Director’s Notes (Pridal Announcements)

Bwana has returned home with new pride members, finding the place in almost total ruin. He and his small band of followers quickly set about re-establishing rules and order within the borders. Having a leader once again- his birthright enough for many of the formerly loyal pride members- seemed to help ease tensions almost right away. But all was not right in Whoville. Many of the pride members had fled, leaving their numbers small and disjointed. The nobles who had become used to their positions in the mountainside would not hear of other non-purple lions returning.

To keep a civil war from breaking out, Bwana retained the color restrictions of his father’s rule for the time being, with the exception of allowing non-purple animals into his den at the top of the mountain to show that they still had some worth in the pride. His war council, adviser set and attendants became a mixture of color and species. Because he didn’t know who he could trust of the remaining royal class, he removed power from almost all previous war council members and advisers, demoting them to elders.

Better safe than sorry.

The pride is still trying to re-bound from its previous mess of a rule, some of the older members a little skeptic that a lion who ran away from responsibility as a cub would now make a good king. But Bwana has brought new members with him who remain loyal, and some of the older lions are just so happy to have a proper king they jumped at the chance to forgive him. He brought back the players, so he couldn’t be EXACTLY like his horrible father.

Many months have passed since his return to power, and the new members are more at home within the pride. A lot of the chaos of the leaderless time has been calmed and things are starting to return to normal. Bwana has started seeking out a queen to bring about some heirs and the royal line, for now at least, appears to be stable again.

And, hey, so far no one has tried to kill him.

Jan 05, 2011: The whole pride has been in high spirits after the recent birth of the king and queen's first, completely legitimate, litter. The colors of the cubs are lovely, and they all seem healthy and very energetic. Perfect little potential rulers of the pride. Indeed, with their birth, a time of happiness and peace seemed to have settled over the Suka'Fumo. The nobles, while pleased with the amount of purple in the cubs, are slowly but surely coming to terms with the fact that their king is not as set on keeping the purple hierarchy of the pride as previous rulers. A nearly completely white queen had been their first hint, naturally. The influx of non-purple lions, jarring at first, has become something tolerable, perhaps even accepted by some of the younger purple pride members. However, not everyone is ready to let this new king change their way of life. Some of the older nobles still resent the groundlings, and the others who don't have purple in their coats. These creatures, with no social standing, mean nothing to them.

Still, even with their bitterness, they, too, are enjoying the time of relative calm within the pride.

Recently, two new groups of lions have entered the pride, neither one connected with the other. The first group was a large band of wanderers, led by a charismatic yellow lion. With him came a brother and sister, a quiet rogue and a strange female. Oh, and another female, who seemed to have taken a fancy to adopting cubs along whatever travels they had been on as a group. This small band of lions brought with them a mini-army of cubs, some older than others, but no two looking quite enough alike to be related. Bwana, though confused as to how these cubs came to be a unit, allowed them all into his pride with open paws. After all, in this time of great joy, how could he not be welcoming?

Shortly after their arrival, another group came to the pride. This one, Bwana couldn't find himself quite as pleased about. Leading the small trio was a former war council member to his father- a cruel, proud lion with not a shred of compassion in his heart for non-purple lions. This lion, who Bwana had grown up loathing, came with a plea, not a protest, begging refuge in the pride he had once called home. Suspicious, the kind did let the other know about the changes in the pride, carefully explaining his position on peace rather than strict obedience. The lion explained that he would do anything to be allowed into his home. He'd even brought back two newcomers, hoping the fact that he was advertising the pride might boost his trust rating a little. It didn't, but Bwana was a forgiving sort, granting him and his purple companions access to the pride as members.

With these two groups now getting settled into the pride, learning and re-learning their ways, the celebrations only grew. Still, there was a sense of foreboding hovering above the joy, waiting for the right moment to strike.

One member of the pride did not want to celebrate. They wanted to rule.

Feb 14, 2011: Remember that crazy lioness mentioned before? The one who brought all these cubs into the pride? Well, she bolted. Once she found out they were accepted into the pride, she took off, leaving the cubs without someone to look to. She had been their substitute mother, each child a product of abandonment or tragedy. Without her, the poor frightened cubs had no idea what to do with themselves.

They scattered like leaves on the wind into the forest, seeking shelter within the darkness from the scary, unknown pride they found themselves in.

Hearing about this, Bwana has decided to enlist the help of his fellow pride members, calling them to action. He is asking for the loving animals of his pride, single or with a mate, who would be willing to find one of these cubs and invite them to be a part of their family. Yes, he's basically asking lions to go into the forest, hunt down a cub, and keep it.

Feb 18, 2011: There is a strange new member of the pride lurking in the shadows. Almost nothing is known about him, other than he seems to have earned the trust of the king and queen.

So far, though, he hasn't been doing much to prove to other lions that he's a good fella. In fact, he seems to be quite a shady, ominous character.

Don't worry, though, I'm sure that new, one-of-a-kind rank of assassin doesn't mean you need to be concerned.

June 13, 2014: Unrest in the pride! Recently, there have been several rumors floating around, which your characters may respond to however you see fit. these rumors include:

1. Nobles are attacking non-purple animals of any rank, sometimes going as far as to kill them. likewise, it is also rumored that purple lions not ranked as Nobles have been attacked as well.

2. Fairy folk are stealing nobles into the forest, where they are never to be seen again. They have been rumored to be viciously tortured with strange rituals until killed.

January 24, 2015: Looots of updates. First off, the IC stuff:

Dromio has taken his place as king, and Bwana has stepped down! there is a big celebration (In the form of an ORP) for all the pride to partake in. Bwana hopes the transition will go smoothly. Prizes and games await pride members and rogues alike!

Meanwhile, the forest continues to be a point of unrest within the pride. Many still hear strange rumors about lions disappearing inside the woods. None are aware that another pride lurks just beyond the forest. A pride that has come to kill them all.

Long ago, when Bwana's father and his fathers before him were in charge of the pride, many lions were mistreated. Those without purple in their pelts were considered slaves, and were tormented daily. Females, too, were treated as inferior. even the ones with purple in their pelts. They lived hard lives. Many escaped into the forests. Some ran beyond the forest- to a place where they could live on their own. Through time, they had their own lion cubs, and their own pride flourished, but their teachings were vastly different than the Suka'Fumo. They were raised to hate the entertainers of the forest- they were raised solely to take revenge for their families and for those who had come before them.

The Ujini'Haragi look only to take the Suka'Fumo down- to destroy everything they hold dear to them. Most importantly, they seek to end the reign of Bwana's family. They want to kill him, his queen, and all his kin. However, like any pride, some grew without the same level of hatred in their heart. Some of the newer generations want peace between the two worlds. Some of the older members have only ever wanted one thing- to return home.

Nonetheless, they wait for the right moment to attack. They are led by the daughter of a former Suka'Fumo pride member, a purple lioness named Oppilan. She is fierce and ready to take the Suka pride lands as her own.

War is on the horizon! And many lions will find themselves going Into The Woods.
