"The red carpet day"
So I joined this forum that's for mature/adult role players. Which of course means there's gonna be smut.

I joined the site because I was looking for more mature rpers and Gaia isn't cutting it much anymore. Not to say that its a kiddie site, but the rps here are either too elite or too newbish.

So I joined the site, and found some role plays. Now some are really great, there is a wonderful mix of plot driving goodness with smut sprinkled in. It's the ones that are all about the sex that turn me off and make me feel dirty.

My question is, as a Christian who is on fire for God, is this an ok thing to do? It's role play, so its not real. I am waiting till marriage to have sex. And I am just looking for more mature role players. I did feel dirty when the whole role play was just focused on the psychical, so I dropped the ones that made me feel uncomfortable and just stuck to the ones that have good plots.

I do enjoy the site, and like role playing with the people on there. And if I must leave the site, then I will, although I will miss the mature atmosphere.

I ask you fellow christians [and even non.] what I should do, I need your help in making a decision.

Thank you

Not having looked at the site, I can't necessarily tell you straight up whether or not it's something you should be involved in; but I can try to offer a few general guidelines to help you make the decision. I hope it's helpful.

If you need to ask if something is okay to do, then that is often a good sign that it isn't. If your conscience bothers you about something, it's usually better to listen to it, rather than to ignore it and press on until your conscience is desensitized to it. Your conscience is given to you by God, and because you're a Christian, it's strengthened by any knowledge you have of the Bible. So I wouldn't readily dismiss anything that it tells you. Be sensitive to its warnings.

Remember that the Holy Spirit dwells in you, and he can also work in a way similar to our conscience. Also remember that you are part of the body of Christ. So whenever you wonder whether something is ok to do, ask yourself if it's something that would be fitting for Christ to be doing; because in a sense you are subjecting his body to those actions. Ask yourself if it is something the Holy Spirit would guide you to do.

Brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. - Phillipians 4:8. When deciding whether or not to get involved in or think about something, this verse is a helpful guide. Do any of the words in this verse describe whatever it is you're deciding on? If not, it should be avoided.

Also, as Christians, everything that we do should be done with praise to God and for his glory. Everything, in a sense, should be done as an act of worship. It can be surprising how many things we really can glorify God through doing. When questioning any action, ask yourself if you can do it as an act of praise and worship to God, and if you can bring God glory with it. That is our purpose for living, so we should attempt for all our actions to be toward that goal.

I thought this passage from Ephesians is another good inspiration for these kind of decisions:

Ephesians 5:1-21
Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says,

“Awake, O sleeper,
and arise from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.”

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

I really recommend the whole book of Ephesians. It's short, only 6 chapters, and it's very helpful and motivational as a guide to living. Reading the Bible, along with prayer, should be a foundation for any decision making in a Christian's life.
