I love Gospel and contemporary Christian music. But I also like metal. It doesn't bother me at all, honestly ^_^
If it doesn't threaten my inner peace and doesn't take away my joy, I don't see how it can be bad. I'm pretty sure most of it isn't Satanic since the lyrics are about glorifying God and making others aware of the truth.
divineseraph Listen to Rage Against the Machine, Protest the Hero, The Human Abstract, He is Legend and Slipknot. Christian music is usually mediocre, listen to something with some kick to it. Harmony, Divinefire, Believer, Pantokrator, Immortal Souls, and Extol are much better! =D

SinfulGuillotine I don't listen to Christian metal simply because I don't like metal...not for any moral or religious reasons, it's just not my genre. I don't see why any one genre of music should require any more spiritual reflection as to whether or not it is "bad" than any other. It's like back when the tritone was considered "demonic" just because it sounded "scary." It's just an augmented fourth, it sounds dissonant because it's neither major nor minor, it's just two notes, let's move on. Metal is just a genre, just because some of it may sound dissonant and scary because it doesn't adhere to typical key and time signatures of most western music doesn't mean that it summons the devil. Let's move on and focus our concerns on more important thing than what music someone listens to. Take a music theory class that explains it all and move on with your life. If the music does not glorify God, it is considered ungodly. From my experience, listening to a lot of secular music does in fact draw me away from God spiritually. Music can influence the mind subconciously. My pastor also did warn us to be careful with the type of music we listen to.
Metal music draws demonic influence into your life. So it's a big no. A fellow church member of mine was demonically possessed because he listened to a lot of metal and rock music. Not to say that everyone would have that kind of experience, but it's certain that metal will have negative influence on the listener's mind.

Music can influence the mind subconciously. My pastor also did warn us to be careful with the type of music we listen to. But define what it means for music to "glorify God." Does that mean that a song has to have overtly religious lyrics, or simply not have lyrics that are anti-God? And if so, where does that leave music without lyrics?
Saying whether or not music "glorifies God" isn't really as black and white as many people seem to think.
Quote: Metal music draws demonic influence into your life. So it's a big no. A fellow church member of mine was demonically possessed because he listened to a lot of metal and rock music. Not to say that everyone would have that kind of experience, but it's certain that metal will have negative influence on the listener's mind. Proof of bold? Because I know plenty of people who listen to metal and are perfectly lovely.
Also, why metal? I've never understood why metal gets such a bad reputation in religious circles. Is it because some metal has lyrics that could be considered by some to be offensive? And if that's the case, let me remind you that there is plenty of metal that is not offensive to those of a religious persuation, and plenty of metal doesn't even have lyrics.
I draw your attention back to the same principle of all the hype surrounding the tritone back in the day. Just because something sounds scary and/or dissonant doesn't mean that it's bad. Dimished and augmented intervals and chords are not demonic. They're a natural part of chord progessions in the major and minor keys in which western music is based. The chords that metal music uses were used by Bach and Beethoven and Mozart and plenty of other composers and musicians centuries before metal as we know it existed...it's the same notes and chords and scales and progessions, and yet those aren't considered bad or demonic (by most...I'm sure there's someone out there who wants to boycott Mozart because they think he was Satan incarnate or something).
If it's lyrics that offend you, then obviously just don't listen to songs with lyrics that offend you. Everyone is going to have a different limit when it comes to that.
But if it's the music itself? Like with most things, music becomes considerably less scary and mysterious once you understand it. Music is music, notes are notes, chords are chords. They're all just vibrations at various frequencies. Nothing more, nothing less.

They're all just vibrations at various frequencies. Nothing more, nothing less. 1. Secular music are considered ungodly, songs that have no mention of love of God. My current perspective on secular music is it's okay to listen to them once in a while, but one must be careful not to get obsessed with them.
The ability to judge music in terms of its effect on one's faith depends on one's spiritual level and maturity. For one, I did consult several ministers before on this matter. But the most important point for me is when I was convicted by the Holy Spirit on this matter.
2.1 Correct. Many metal listeners are very friendly and nice people. They don't go around hurting people or doing bad things. What metal really does is draw your spirit to the dark side without you even knowing it. Many metal/rock lovers like to associate with the darker side of life like goth, darkness, death, vampires, blood and so on. This is what I realised recently happened to me over the years. These things mentioned should have no place in a Christian's life. Note that God not only judge people by their actions, but also what is in their mind and their hearts. It is not a coincidence that rock and metal music are becoming popular in our time. We are living in the endtimes. This is a evil ploy by Satan to cause people to sin unknowingly, twarting their chance of making it to the Rapture, and also to prepare them to receive the Antichrist.
2.2-2.5 It has all to do with God. If I wasn't a Christian, I would probably listen to anything I like.

Genesis of Faith OneWithDunamis I don't listen to Christian metal, but if it's really Christian music, why would that be bad for your spirituality? If the music is demonic in any way, how is it Christian music then? Can you give some specific song samples? Music: Screaming vocals, metal guitar riffs = demonic The vocals were almost inaudible in most of them, making those music sound not so different from typical metal. Christians who listen to them unknowingly listened to metal that were disguised as Christian music. Christian = Of Christ (Jesus Christ) Anyone can label a thing or product as Christian if he or she wants to and market or sell it as a Christian item. But the thing may not necessarily be something that Jesus would approve of. Where in the Bible does it say that screaming vocals and metal guitar riffs are demonic? How can they be demonic if they're an expression of a Christian's human soul (which I believe all music is, Christian or not)?

Where in the Bible does it say we can't look at porn? What about masturbation? Lesbians? Yoga? Meditation? Martial arts? Pork? Violent video games?
When things are not mentioned at all in the Bible, the church has to decide which are right and which are wrong, discerning from a spirit driven perspective and drawing guidance from the Words of God. But I fully understand that different churches/denominations may teach differing doctrines. Which brings to the important question - what is your church's stand on metal music?
1.5 - 2.0 I have prepared the answer to the second part of your reply, but I need to know your church's stand before I dive deeper into the topic.

So your opinion is based on stupid stereotypes surrounding people who listen to a kind of music, and some retarded bullsh*t about loud and fast music automatically being demonic that has no base in reality whatsoever.
I'm done.
