SloanSage It really depends on the church and the denomination. There are the Protestant churches and the traditional churches and the liturgical churches. The liturgical and the traditional will have ceremony, and traditions, and a constant pattern. In ways, that is good. Some of the newer mega churches are not great. Really it depends on your level as a Christian. New? Maybe a mega church is okay because then you will begin to grow and maybe get plugged in because many have great Bible studies. HOWEVER! I will warn you and tell you this: THINK FOR YOURSELF! Too many young believers fall off course because of faulty theology. They have great intentions, they just might not be right. Make sure you examine passages they cite (and if they do not use the Bible as a source, get out now!) and the ones surrounding them. Make sure you know the context for those verses. I personally have left a mega church for a smaller church and I love it. It was just what was right for me at the time, and I am very happy with it. find a home that is right for YOU and not everyone else.
I belong to a megachurch currently. So far I find that it is alright for me. One important thing I feel is whether one feels the presense of God in the church itself. My current level biblical knowledge is still inadequate for me to interpret difficult passages. It's hard to say whether I will leave my current church one day. What you have said does make sense.
