This imposing city sits in the middle of east Shadelands, a high wall of heavy sandstone bricks with four sided, obelisk like pillars spaced evenly along it surrounds the city. Keh'Jan is split into two levels, the Under Realm and the Over Realm. The lowest part of the city resembles a massive slum. The buildings seem to be in disrepair, the people appear poor and downtrodden. A massive pillar with a spiraling staircase coiling around holds up the Over Realm, along with several smaller pillars around the bottom of the upper plate's circumference. The staircase is crawling with Kehjani Soldats on their patrols from the Under to the Over and back again. The palace of Keh'Jan stands in the center of the Over Realm, resembling a series of pyramids clustered together.

Tsen'Tenza had landed her ManaMech on the upper plate known as the Over Realm, the huge machine settling on a metallic landing pad that began to descend down through one of the support pillars like a cargo elevator. Tsen stood next to her mech as the elevator went deep underground, the elevator display stopping at B25. As the massive cargo elevator slid to a halt, a vertical hairline crack of white light formed on the wall opposite Tsen, as a massive blast door opening into a brightly lit chamber filled with easily hundreds of the lesser mechs that had escorted her. Despite the bright light coming from the crystal panels along the walls of the hangar, the ceiling was completely pitch black. As Tsen started across the hangar floor, a glowing blue cable snaked down from the ceiling, feeling it's way into the cargo elevator to attach itself to the chest of Tsen's ManaMech. The enormous machine began to walk forward on it's own, moving over to a maintenance pad where mechanical arms wielding various tools and arcane devices began to work on it. Tsen entered another elevator on the opposite side of the hangar, taking it up to an observation deck. As she walked out into the room, a man was standing facing away from her, looking out the wide window onto the hangar floor below. He wore a similar coat with military uniform pants and boots, his hands behind his back. He had a long white ponytail trailing down his back and skin as white as the metal paneling of her ManaMech, several similar blue wires were connected to the man's head and arms. "My Colonel, I have returned.", Tsen said with respect as she knelt behind the man. The Colonel said nothing for some time, simply watching as the mechs and ManaMechs below were outfitted. "Uhm, Colonel...?", Tsen began as the man slowly looked over his shoulder at her. A long fringe of hair covered his left eye but his right was fierce, it's white mirrored iris devoid of a pupil, "Silence, Lt. Colonel.", the man spoke, his voice bearing a slight german accent as well as sounding almost synthesized. Tsen bowed her head as the Colonel turned his head back towards the window. "I trust you've delivered the ultimatum, Lt. Colonel?", the man spoke, his voice seemed devoid of emotion which sent a chill down Tsen's spine. "O..oui, Colonel. The ultimatum has been delivered.", Tsen said, trying to sound as confident as possible. The Colonel scoffed sarcastically, "I would say good job, but no such credit is due.", he said coldly as he turned and walked towards Tsen, looking down on her as if she were an animal. "You and your loose tongue have let far too much intel slip.", the Colonel said with a frightening calmness as he reached down and gripped Tsen by the throat, lifting her off her feet single handed, "You've divulged our tech source, the A.S.V., as well as far too much about myself. Are you really that stupid, Tsen?", the Colonel said coldly, staring into Tsen's frightened eyes without so much as a blink. Tsen struggled for air against the man's iron grip, "F...For...give...me...P..Parallax!", she cried, gasping for air. The Colonel released his grip, letting Tsen fall at his feet, "Forgiveness must be earned, Lt. Colonel.", Parallax said, his synthetic voice chilling as he turned and walked back to the window, his hands behind his back, "I've decided to change my mind. The Bel'tha'gian's no longer get three days. We assault their pathetic plateau at dawn." Tsen pulled in breaths of air, shakily standing to her feet, "But, sir...", she began as an annoyed sigh escaped Parallax, "Are you questioning me, Tsen? Bad enough that you can not keep your big mouth shut but now do I sense insubordination?", he said with a menacing calmness. Tsen snapped to attention, her feet quaking in her boots as a chill ran down her spine, "N..no, sir. Dawn it is.", she said quietly, a fearful tone in her voice. The Colonel waved he hand as a gesture for her to leave, "Wunderbar. Now begone from my sight, and from MY ship.", Parallax demanded, as Tsen exited his observation room.

Several hours past midnight, Tsen'Tenza found herself walking across the mech hangar once more, having been summoned by her Colonel. The mech drones as well as her Uni-Corps ManaMechs were all standing in parallel lines, all with flourescent blue wires descending from the ceiling and attached to the backs of their heads. As she entered the elevator up to Parallax's command station, static crackled over the intercom, "You're late, Lt. Colonel. I called for you 20 minutes ago, tardiness will NOT be tolerated, understood?", the Colonel's synthetic voice echoed over the speaker. Tsen scowled at the small camera lens next to the audio box, "But, sir, it takes 10 minutes from the officer's quarters to the main elevator and another 5 for the descent, plus...", she tried to argue as an agonizing shriek of electronic sound poured from the audio box, giving Tsen an intense headache, "No excuses! Understood?", the Colonel said coldly, his synthetic tone somewhat frightening. "O..oui, sir...", Tsen said, holding her hands to her ears to try and drown out the noise. The elevator stopped and the door opened, several dozen hologram display screens floated around the room, revolving around Parallax as he stood facing the view window. Each screen showed the same tactical map of the desert, with Bel'tha'go lit up red and Keh'Jan green along with a wide variety of battle schematics on each screen. The Colonel would occasionally reach out and tap a screen, the image disappearing and the wires connected to him flaring up, sending the signals to the mechs to program them with the chosen strategy. "Lt. Colonel, Tsen'Tenza reporting, sir.", Tsen said, standing at attention. Parallax didn't answer her for several minutes, but eventually turned his head and stared at her with his cold synthetic eye, "Has the Umbral Organic Weapon been prepared?", he asked, his sensors reading her vitals and brainwave functions to judge if she is lying to him. Tsen stood stock still, never breaking eye contact, "Sir! Oui, sir, U.O.W. - Alpha is ready, U.O.W. - Beta still needs time, but...", she started, as the Colonel turned his head back to the window, "Beta is of no concern right now. I'm sure Alpha will suffice for the ultimatum that I intend on delivering.", Parallax spoke, his tone cold and calculating. Tsen remained at attention, having not been told to be at ease, "Sir, pardon my inquisitiveness...", she started as Parallax added, "You mean your incompetence?" Tsen gritted her teeth but remained calm, "If you say so, sir, but what ultimatum is that?", she asked. Parallax again ignored her for a few minutes, tapping several more screens to program the battle schematics into the machines, "Simply, that Keh'Jan is supreme. I intend on showing those primitives that our technological conquest knows no limits, starting with the unveiling of my U.O.W.'s", the Colonel said, his synthetic tone sending a frightening chill up Tsen's spine, "Now begone. Prepare your Uni-Corps for a delivery, and instruct Alpha to do what it does best." Tsen saluted the Colonel, "Oui, sir!", she said, trying to hide her fear of her own commander, turning on her heel and exiting Parallax's command station. An unnatural smirk appeared on the Colonel's face, "Oh, Tsen. How inappropriate your fear is, but don't worry, for soon you will never feel fear again.", he said to himself, as his reflection stared back at him with a sinister smirk, his white pupil-less eye flashing with malicious intent.

With dawn creeping ever nearer, a quartet of Uni-Corps ManaMechs stand on the upper plate just outside of the Kehjani Palace. They all face inwards to a large opening where a lift engine hums loudly as a platform bearing a large black steel box reinforced with Caelium bands along it's surface rises slowly up the elevator shaft. Tsen'Tenza stands in front of her mech with three Kehjani officers behind her. "We're all clear on the plan then?", she said sternly to her subordinates, not bothering to look at them, "Yes, Lt. Colonel!", the three sounded off in unison. The platform settled on the deck, the massive box looming over Tsen, "What an eyesore.", she said with an annoyed tone, moving closer to the box. As she neared, a low metallic growl started to echo from within, "Take me. Take me to the slaughter.", the distorted metallic voice growled. Tsen backed away from the box, an unnatural fear of it guiding her steps. Trying not to look frightened in front of her men she put on an angered face and turned to face the Kehjani, "All right, suit up! The Colonel wants the package delivered right to the Bel'tha'gians doorstep. We have the advantage here, their ballistae can't shoot straight up so when we come within range of the plateau...gun it. Understood?", she said with a voice of command. The soldiers snapped to a perfectly uniform salute, "Yes, Lt. Colonel!", they all roared with enthusiasm, each rushing to their respective mechs and beginning the launch process. Tsen settled into her ManaMech, the arcane control panel within glowing a bright blue at her touch. The four ManaMechs eyes all flashed bright blue as the machines began to move, the Uni-Corps horn forming from swirling arcane energy on their foreheads. Each mech grabbed a hanging metal ring on each upper corner of the box, pulling on it to extend heavy chains from within. With a great thrust of white-blue arcane fire from the machines' boots, the mechs hoisted the box into the air, setting their course for Bel'tha'go.

Firin rode hard through the desert, the sun climbing higher as the sands began to heat up. "Phew, I forgot how hot the desert gets.", he said to himself as he directed the steed up a large sand dune. Upon reaching the top of the dune, Firin looked out at Keh'Jan sitting on the horizon, "Well, I guess this is it.", he said as he dismounted the horse, intending to walk the rest of the way. As he set foot on the sand, he heard a strange click to his side. Turning to look, he found himself looking down the barrel of a pistol as the Kehjani's camouflage faded, "Well, well. Looks like I just bagged myself a Bel'tha'gian.", the Soldat said, a satisfied grin on his face. Firin froze as the Kehjani pulled the hammer of his pistol back, "I'm not here to cause trouble. I just want to speak with Parallax.", he said calmly. The Soldat's smirk melted away as he swung his pistol at Firin, cracking the Captain across the head with the gun's butt. As Firin's vision faded and he dropped to his knees, the Soldat spit at his feet, "That's Colonel Parallax to you, Bel'tha'gian scum." The Kehjani Soldat grabbed the scruff of Firin's coat, dragging the unconscious Captain through the desert to Keh'Jan.

Tsen'Tenza looked at the holo monitor in Parallax's command chamber, the image showing a brightly lit room in the medical bay with Firin unconscious on the bed. "He came alone.", she said aloud, as Parallax stood behind her with a blank look on his face. "Foolish...", Tsen spat, turning to look at Parallax, "Why would you want this...boy. He's shown himself to be a decent swordsman but there's no such place in the Kehjani world for such...", she began to argue before Parallax turned from her and walked over to a large console built into the center of the room. The Colonel looked down at the screens of the console, showing Firin's brainwaves and vitals, with his cold synthetic eye, "The Kehjani world has room for all, Lt. Colonel. With him, we have yet another opportunity before us. Without a leader, the Templars of Bel'tha'go will have no direction. They are even less of a threat to us now than they ever were.", Parallax said in a chilling monotone. Tsen looked back at the screen, at Firin, "But what of their Highlord? Or the Starborn girl?", she said, focusing her gaze on the young Bel'tha'gian Captain. An amused chuckle escaped Parallax as he entered several sets of data into the console, accessing Firin's memory banks remotely to create a hologram of Ra'Sha and Selene over the miniature holo deck situated over the console itself, "They are of no concern. The Highlord rules, true, but the Captain is the might of the Bel'tha'gian military. He is their soul. As for girl, well...", the Colonel said with sinister intent. The holograms of the Highlord and the Starborn begin to mimic their individual move sets, the abilities that Firin had seen them perform with his own eyes, "I think it's safe to say our Soldats shall be prepared to deal with these two insignificant annoyances, especially with their new Commander.", Parallax said with a malicious glance over his shoulder at Firin on the holo monitor. Tsen's muscles tightened at what her Colonel had suggested, "A-are you serious?! Just how do you plan on making him fight for us? You know he's not here to join us, this has to be a trick!", she growled, flustered. Parallax turned away from the console and walked back to the monitor, "That's where you come in, Lt. Colonel. I'm assigning him to you as your squad's Captain.", the Colonel said, drawing Tsen's flustered glare to him, "You mean, I have to babysit the prisoner....AND let him boss my soldiers around?! Are you mad!?", Tsen ranted, obviously against the idea. Parallax gave her a sharp look, his electronic eye flashing with streams of arcane data as he slowly walked closer to his subordinate, "Watch your tongue! You will do as commanded, without question. I will NOT tolerate insubordination, do I make myself clear?!", Parallax said, his synthetic voice adding a twisted distortion to his already angered tone. Tsen took a step back, a cold sweat forming on her brow as an unnatural fear filled her heart, "O-oui, sir...", she muttered, as Parallax glared at her, the images of arcane runes moving across the Colonel's electronic eye filling her with unease. "Good. Now, go and wake him. He's your responsibility, so put those feminine wiles of yours to use and make him see our way....", he said, his distorted tone leveling out as he turned to walk back to the main console, "And Lt. Colonel..." Tsen looked back as she was about to exit the command station, "Failure is NOT an option.", Parallax said as he began to study the hologram's moves, the fluorescent wires connected to him flaring with newly gained data. "Oui...sir...", Tsen muttered as she left the command station, a mixture of thoughts filling her head, ranging from bitter hatred to unexplained intrigue.

Firin awoke to the blinding fluorescent lights of a strange room, a pounding headache causing his vision to spin as he sits up. The room was covered in white metal panels, similar to the panels of the ruined ship under the Obelisk, "What...happened?", he asked himself slowly, an unexpected shock to him when he received an answer, "You're in the Med Bay.", a french toned female voice said, drawing Firin's dizzy gaze to the doorway. Tsen'Tenza stood leaning against the open door frame with her arms crossed, "May I suggest, calling ahead before you drop by?", she said, her voice soft but her gaze sharp. Firin blinked the vertigo away, trying to process everything, "Right, I wasn't aware you greet all your guests at gunpoint.", he said cautiously, rubbing his head to try and relieve the headache. Tsen chuckled lightly, trying to smile sweetly, "Well, when a Bel'tha'gian steps on Kehjani territory, we have to be cautious. Even if you've been invited by the Colonel himself.", she said, as Firin moved from his prone position to have a seat on the edge of the bed, "Duly noted. So, I came here to speak with Parallax...sorry, 'Colonel' Parallax.", he said, getting straight to the point. Tsen sighed, looking through her sapphire tinted eyepiece at the young Captain, "And here I thought you came all this way to see moi. Unfortunately, one doesn't just 'pop in' on the Colonel. Don't worry, he'll see you in time. For now, how about I show you around? If you're going to be part of the Kehjani vision then you should probably get acquainted with the lifestyle.", she said sweetly, although cursing herself on the inside for having to speak to a prisoner in such a manner. Firin felt uneasy with the way Tsen addressed him, but didn't object, "Alright, Miss...", he began as Tsen walked into the room to hold onto his arm as he stood, the vertigo slowly setting back in. "Lt. Colonel Tenza, but you can call me Tsen.", she said softly as she led Firin from the Med room. The unease Firin felt only increased as Tsen held his arm on the walk down the Med Bay hall, "Is all this necessary, Miss Tsen?" he asked, a bit freaked out at the strong signals the Kehjani woman was giving. Tsen giggled lightly, "But of course. I wouldn't be a very good hostess if our guest got lost or something.", she cooed gently. Firin nodded silently, "What is with this woman?", he thought, something about her gentle innocence not sitting right with him. Tsen led Firin on a tour of the open facilities, passing up any rooms with a cardkey lock and any halls with sealed blast doors, "That b*****d really got me this time. Damn you, Parallax, for making me resort to this.", she thought to herself, all the while keeping her outside appearance pleasant.

Clarice was walking around the ruins of the Citadel when she bumped into something, the device activated and Clarice was transported to Kehjani high command, chard marks on the floor and smoke coming from Clarice's body. Clarice fell to the ground, her body stinging with pain. Clarice looked around as much as she could, seeing similar technology and a man.

Parallax sat at the holo console in the center of his command station, his elbows rested on the device's surface with his fingers laced. The sudden burst of energy and fire didn't even startle the synthetic Colonel as he looked at the female across from the holo console over his laced fingers. "My, my. What have we here?", the Colonel said in a serious monotone, his german accent mixing with the synthetic tone to give a chilling sound.

Tzen'Tenza escorted Firin into the Mess Hall, "And this is where our tour ends, mon amie.", she cooed, forcing a smile. Firin looked around the room as many of the Soldats looked up from whatever they were doing at him. Tzen let go of Firin's arm and held her arm out as a gesture for him to explore the area on his own, "Please, make yourself at home. You must be hungry after your trip. I will return shortly.", she said nicely, turning on her heel to exit the mess hall. Firin looked around the room of enemy Soldats, a good portion of them glaring him down with resentment. "This ought to be interesting...", he thought as he started to walk through the cafeteria. As he was about to pass a table with a group of glaring Soldats, one of them on the end of the table closest to him stood in his way. The man wore a standard issue tech coat, similar to his, only with a silver trim and a red tinted eyepiece. "Well, well. If it isn't the Lt. Colonel's new pet. And a Bel'tha'gian at that.", the Soldat sneered, turning his nose up at the young Captain. Firin remained calm, not showing any hint of fear towards the man, "I'm sure I have no idea what you're on about, I'm not here to cause any trouble.", Firin replied to the Soldats comment, trying to walk around the man. The Soldat placed his hand on Firin's chest as he attempted to walk by and shoved him back, "That's a shame, because I was really looking forward to the trouble. Just who do you think you are? Coming here where you are most unwelcome.", the man growled, cracking his knuckles and taking a wide stance. Firin narrowed his eyes at the Soldat, sliding his left foot back to adopt a sturdy stance himself, "For your information, I was invited here by Parallax. So, why don't you just back off.", Firin said calmly, as the Soldat's face showed an angered expression. "Why you insignificant worm! No one talks to me like that or uses the Colonel's name in such a manner!", the man roared, throwing all of his weight into a right hook. Firin brought his arms up to block as the Soldat's punch flew for his face only to stop in mid swing, the man's arm shaking as he tries to push his fist forward. "Now, now. Is that any way to treat one of the Colonel's honored guests?", a calm, airy male voice spoke. Firin and the enraged Soldat looked over to a nearby table as a man wearing segmented caelium plates over a matte black biosuit stood with his arm extended, a pulsing blue glow emenating from his open palm as florescent blue wires connecting his bracer to his breastplate flared brightly. The Soldat withdrew his hand and spat at Firin's feet, "You're lucky the Technomancer saved you, Bel'tha'gian scum.", the Soldat growled, sitting back with his comrades with a violent glare at Firin. The Technomancer waved Firin over to his table, his reflective silver visor rising from his tech helmet to reveal the man's yellow eyes swirling with blue arcane energy. Firin sat across from the man, eying him cautiously, "Thanks for the assist, but I could have taken him.", Firin said politely. The Technomancer chuckled and sat, "I don't doubt it, Squad Sergeant 'Fireheart' isn't the greatest hand to hand combatant, preferring his submachine pistols over his fists. But I didn't want there to be an incident with our honored guest already.", the man said with a friendly smile. Firin examined the Technomancer's face, detecting no ill intent in his smile, "Again, thanks. My name's...", he began as the man cut him off, "Firin'Rai? I know. We have a dossier on all high profile persons in Bel'tha'go. Pleasure to meet you, I'm 1st Lt. 'Magus Epsilon'.", the Technomancer said, holding out his hand to Firin. The young Captain smiled, relieved that someone in Keh'Jan didn't want him dead, "The pleasure is mine, sir.", he said, shaking Epsilon's hand. 'Magus Epsilon' cocked an eyebrow as his hand made contact with Firin's, feeling a familiar resonation in the Captain's grip. "If you don't mind, I would like to ask you a few things. Our dossiers only have intel regarding military statistics and I'd like to get to know my new comrade.", Epsilon said. Firin nodded, "Shoot.", he said with a friendly tone.

Parallax leaned back in his chair, his fingers laced over each each other before him, "My, aren't you the bold one. Normally, I'd be the one asking the questions...such as...who do you think you are, intruding within my command center? But, since you seem baffled, much like the rest of these pitiful organics, I'll give you this one grace and answer your question.", the Colonel spoke in a chilling monotone, his cold electronic eye staring daggers at the mysterious being. "You are within the heart of the soon to be greatest empire this pathetic little planet has ever seen. You stand within, or should I say...under...the great gem of the desert, Keh'Jan. I'll even be kind enough to introduce myself, I am this city's chief commanding officer, Colonel Parallax. Now, I expect some answers myself....", Parallax spoke with an eerie calm, as the door from the elevator opened. Tzen'Tenza stepped out into Parallax's command station, clicking her heels immediately with a Kehjani salute, her left hand behind her back while her right placed over her chest with her fingers angled vertically, "Sir! Lt. Colonel Tenza reporting...", she began, as her gaze broke from her Colonel to the woman, "And who is this?", Tzen said, looking back to her Colonel.

'Magus Epsilon' looked at Firin with his arcane infused gaze, intrigue clear on the 1st Lieutenant's face, "So, the dossier says you were born to nomads. Tell me, which tribe do you hail from?", Epsilon asked with a polite tone. Firin thought for a moment, "It's been so long...but I believe they were the Celestius tribe.", Firin answered, trying not to remember Black Venom's assault of his people. Epsilon ran his fingers across his chin in contemplation, "Intriguing. Intel says that tribe was composed of a majority of shamans and mystics. May I ask, were your parents one of these?", Epsilon asked, a confused look appearing on Firin's face at the strange question. "Hmm...My mother was a herder and I don't remember my father. Most nomadic children are lucky to know even one of their biological parents. My mother always spoke of him though and she did mention the mystics more than a few times.", the young Captain replied. 'Magus Epsilon' nodded, intrigued by Firin's answer, "I see. So you never knew your father but have reason to believe he was involved with the mystics? Intriguing.", Epsilon said, a calm smile on his face. Firin cocked his head at Epsilon, confused by these questions of his parentage, "I hope this doesn't come off as rude, but why exactly are you asking all of this?", he asked as Epsilon rested his hands on the table, "I don't believe it to be rude, it is only fair you know my reasoning. I believe you are a mystic. Your grip had the telltale resonation of dormant arcane power. If it is true, I would like to recommend you to the Colonel for the Technomancer program.", Epsilon explained. Firin sat with a blank expression for a moment before chuckling with amusement, "That's a good one. You think I'm a mystic? Sorry to disappoint you, but I'm a swordsman.", he laughed, Epsilon politely joining the festive chuckling. Epsilon's facial expression went serious in an instant, "But I believe it to be true. When 'Fireheart' was about to swing on you, I saw the look on your face. You were calculating his next move based on his stance, correct? Based on that, you show a lot more mental capability than the usual brutes claiming to be fighters. Tell me, our dossier says you wield an arcane blade, who forged your blade?", Epsilon continued. Firin thought back to his promotion to Lieutenant, "It was given to me by my predecessor, Captain Vas'Kaa. He forged it himself for me when I came back from the front lines of the civil war.", Firin explained, his tone sounding somewhat saddened by the memory of his mentor. 'Magus Epsilon' thought deeply, "The dossiers say that Vas'Kaa had no ties to the arcane, how was he able to forge a magical blade?", Epsilon asked quizzically. Firin simply shrugged at the question, "I don't know. It was pure Caelium, with a silvery reflectiveness when he handed it to me. But I did notice it took a bluish tint when I gripped it...", he said, the idea of his father's mystic heritage living on through him becoming a bit more plausible. Epsilon nodded with a polite smile, "I see. Thank you for answering my questions, Firin'Rai, that's all I needed to hear to confirm my suspicions. I truly believe you have arcane blood, and with our arcane amplifying technology you'll become a fine Technomancer. All we need now is Colonel Parallax's approval.", Epsilon said, taking an apple from his tray and sliding it across the table to Firin. The young Captain took the fruit, not wanting to seem rude to the only Kehjani who wasn't hostile or downright weird.

Parallax's stare was constant, his expression cold and blank, "Geth? I would hope that's not an insult, not within my domain. I control everything that goes on here, the systems are all under my influence...even the very air you breathe. So, with that in mind, explain yourself.", the Colonel spoke, his synthetic voice a distorted monotone. Tzen cleared her throat to get her Colonel's attention, "Sir? The captive?", she input, drawing a sharp glare from Parallax. "Tell me, Tzen. Were you ever subtle in your youth? Or were you always this ignorant?", he snapped, his distorted tone sounding somewhat annoyed. Tzen felt her blood boil by the comment, but kept her opinion to herself as she didn't want to anger the Colonel, "Apologies, sir.", she said through her clenched teeth. Parallax chuckled in amusement, "Well, now that it's out in the open, I have no choice but to see to the matter. For once, do something useful and entertain our...I'll say guest for now.", the Colonel said with heavy emphasis on "guest", as he stood from his console and silently walked out of the station. Tzen glared as the Colonel left, growling under breath as the elevator door closed, "What am I, a maid?", she mumbled before looking to the intruder with a sharp glance.
