That sounds really fun. What goes on during the parade?

I've always loved the energy of the holidays, and all the traditions that go along with family gatherings and celebrations. Thanksgiving has never been huge on my holiday list, because I'm the only vegetarian in my family and no one gets it. They'll cook collard greens with pork fat in it and expect me to eat it.

This will be my first Christmas away from home... smilies/icon_crying.gif smilies/icon_crying.gif smilies/icon_crying.gif I can't afford a plane ticket home, and I'll most likely be working anyway. I'm hoping to just have a nice little celebration with some new friends in the city, starting my own traditions. smilies/icon_3nodding.gif

Hmm, well we don't have a lot of stuff happening before new years. We have the independence day and then christmas. I like both of them but I celebrate more the christmas. I love all the christmas food. smilies/icon_heart.gif Christmas is usually a family gathering in here like I suppose in many places. We give gifts, eat well and spend time with the family. The biggest difference between ours and for example the stereotype american christmas is that we give gifts on the evening of the 24th and we eat ham on the the christmas feast. smilies/icon_4laugh.gif

Do you look forward to the holiday season?

I dread the holiday season for the most part, it puts too much strain on me across the board and does irreparable damage to my esteem and confidence that compounds each year.
Camwen Wrote:
Which ones do you tend to celebrate the most between now and the new year?

I only celebrate New Year's really.
Camwen Wrote:
How do you celebrate them?

Usually, my best friend and little sister all chat online in a group session, looking back over the previous year from midnight on the east coast to midnight on the west coast. Then they b***h me out about it being 3AM there and go to sleep. hehe. It's stupid and not really a celebration, but it is something dear to me. I hope to be out there in Florida this year for it... but it does not look like it will happen. smilies/icon_cry.gif

I don't really celebrate the holidays anymore being single and living very far away from family. I mean I do spoil myself for the holidays but I really don't see the point in celebrating them at this point in my life.

I always look forward to holidays. Fourth of July is my favorite because it's my birthday ;]
And Christmas is also a huge favorite because all of my family gets together. We spend Christmas Eve together eating a s**t ton of food, we open presents, then have an ornament exchange. Then I spend Christmas day with my best friend and her mom.

The holidays are fine (for as much as I celebrate anymore). I'm usually working over most if not all of them. Thanksgiving is barely celebrated with my mom, sister and grandma. Christmas is usually done at some point between the 20th and January 5th depending on when people make it back to Michigan from across the country.

Have you ever gone on a blind date? How did it go?

Many many years ago I went on a blind double date. My friend, who had been dating this guy for a while, set me up with her boyfriend's friend. The four of us went to a party together. The actual date was so-so. Not great, but not a disaster... that is until the end when "my" date ended up hooking up with someone else at the party, and my friends boyfriend made a pass at me. smilies/icon_gonk.gif That was the first and last blind date I agreed to do.

I went on a blind date once. She told me I was hideous and disgusting and left all of 10 minutes into it.
