"He is a kind man now but I also think he is a danger. He impaled humans and werewolves as a warning out of impulse. If he hadn't gone to lengths to try and resolve it peacefully we would have tried to kill him." Lucas explained in detail as they drove. Then he returned to the topic at hand. "The bar isn't special. Human owned, one of the few that vampires seem to get away hanging out in all night. We went there when we heard that the impaler was out of the woods." They were going to be nearing the bar soon and when they did they would find the parking lot mostly full. The bar was crowded with attendees who seemed to have come for a square dancing night. It was a weird theme and not remotely Lucas's favorite but it provided a decent distraction for illegal deeds. The vampire targets seemed to know that.

“He impaled them on impulse?” Abby repeated slowly and with disbelief. “I’ve seen some ******** up s**t over the years, but that is another level. You don’t lose control and accidently impale a bunch of people to set up a warning. I understand losing control and acting on impulse better than anyone and this isn’t that. It’s methodical and with intent.” It was clear where Abigail stood on the topic of letting the Impaler live and she was much more lenient than most when it came to the supernatural. She knew first hand how impossible it could be to control herself. Those early years after she had been turned…

They finally pulled up to the bar and Abby couldn’t help but feel confused as the country music from within washed over her. “So…” She began as she pushed the truck door open. “How exactly would Nathaniel have them trapped here?” As far as she could tell none of the entrances were blocked given the patrons were freely coming and going. Maybe they were all down in some sort of cellar or basement, but really that just lead to more questions for Abby. Like how he got them down there when there were a bunch of human hostages on the dance floor.

"Careful who you condemn now, Abigail. You have a long life ahead of you. You will make many difficult choices. You will do bad things. Horrible things. And you'll always justify it to yourself." Lucas seemed to trail off a little bit but was glad that conversation drew to an end until they arrived at the bar. He parked his truck and got out slowly. The country music wasn't the worst thing he had ever heard but it was far from his favorite. He didn't know how a vampire would stand in a place with that kind of noise. "It's perfect for them because we can't bring a gun in. Perfect for Nathaniel because he knows how to scare them into hiding from humans. He knows the right threats to make." When the duo entered the bar they would find a situation reflecting exactly that. Nathaniel was sitting at a table with six others. Well four others were sitting and two were standing. One was behind Nathaniel and had both hands on his shoulders. They didn't attack because they were not provoked. They could wait until the humans cleared out and the bar closed to kill Nathaniel. The twins needed to clear the humans out some other way so they could fight. Or they could try to negotiate.

I have a much shorter life ahead of me than you think brother. Abigail kept that thought to herself. Lucas had enough things to worry about, and he had already sacrificed so much for her, but she wouldn't endeavor to out live him long. Once he was gone there would be nothing left in this world for her, but endless years of loneliness. It was certainly a peculiar scene upon entering the bar. There were few who would be so comfortable having a vampire stand behind them in such a way, both mortal and immortal alike. After everything she had seen so far she shouldn't be surprised or impressed by Nathaniel, yet she was. Despite the seriousness of the situation, and the blasting country music working on giving her a migraine Abby couldn't help but smile slightly at the sight. A smile that faded as she turned to her brother. “Wait by the bar and I'll signal you if we need to get everyone out?” Abby suggested. She had two reasons, one practical and one selfish. Clearing out the bar now wouldn't have much better results than waiting until closing time. Besides a peaceful resolution was always preferable. But it also meant if things did go down hill her brother would be out of the way and the vampires wouldn't know he was a hunter. If Lucas agreed she would approach the table with Nathaniel and the vampires.

Lucas would naturally agree with Abigail and go to the bar to begin preparing a backup plan. Oddly if it came time to fight and Abigail looked back at the bar, Lucas would not be there. But that is a surprise for another time. At the moment Lucas was waiting by the bar and the vampires around Nathaniel seemed to tense up at the sight of an entering Abigail. "Well if it ain't that little leech. Traitor to her own kind." One of the vampires at the table mumbled. Then the one holding Nathaniel's shoulders said "No, her kind is the humans. She's food just like the rest of them."

"One might argue I'm more loyal since I was a hunter first." Abby commented, shrugging off their insults. To her, they weren't really all that offensive as she hated being a vampire. The things her fellow hunters said about her were much worse. "So what will it take to get you lot to leave town without causing any more trouble?" Abigail was no negotiator. She was blunt and straight to the point. If her words failed, often times a bullet or a stake worked just fine.

Nathaniel Korrigan

"We don't wanna leave. We like the town. We just don't like the pushover in charge. Get rid of her and we won't have a problem." The vampire holding Nathaniel's shoulders responded. His name was Elliot. He was probably the leader of the group given that he seemed to be the most physically intimidating vampire among them which wasn't saying much. Nathaniel did not seem all to impressed by Abigail's negotiating but he understood that she was not him. He also recognized where the negotiations were likely to go and began scanning around the room with his eyes. It wasn't clear what he was looking for.

Abigail really wished Nathaniel would speak up. The only response that came to mind was 'if she's such a pushover why haven't gone to kill her yet', but she knew that would do the very opposite of defusing the situation. She looked to Nathaniel, willing for him to somehow telepathically understand what she was about to do next. Likely Lucas already knew how this was going to go before they had even arrived and had started working on a plan to keep everyone safe. The biggest downside was until the place was evacuated she couldn't start slaying vampires. Abby took a couple steps forward towards the apart leader of the group holding onto Nathaniel. She raised her hand a bit, open-palmed as if to shake his hand. Then suddenly she moved to clock him in the jaw.

Nathaniel Korrigan

Elliot didn't buy the hand shake at all. As Abigail stepped closer to him, his grip tightened on Nathaniel's shoulders to the point that Nathaniel seemed to get physically uncomfortable for the first time. She hadn't said anything to him, she had just walked up and raised her hand which was kinda weird without verbal confirmation and agreement first. Probably something Nathaniel would tell her about later. Any who, just as Abigail went to clock Elliot, a massive gunshot went off in the bar and the humans began to panic. They screamed and ran out the door as fast as they could, tripping over many things in the process. Lucas sat at the bar once again with a sawed off shotgun pointed towards the ceiling. The distraction stopped Elliot from anticipating the punch and when it hit, he let go of Nathaniel's shoulders. It was at that moment that it became very clear why he had put such a death grip on this human. It wasn't to intimidate or threaten, it was because he knew what would happen if he didn't hold Nathaniel down.

Nathaniel felt the grip loosen and as it did his arm shot out and swept a bottle off the table. He broke the bottle against the table and jammed it into the forehead of one of the two vampires on his right. The three other sitting vampires slid their chairs back so quickly they tipped over and Nathaniel took advantage "Stool!" He shouted moments before Lucas tossed one from the bar. Nathaniel caught it and turned quickly to break the stool over the vampire who had been standing next to Elliot. Then he picked up two of the broken legs and drove one into the downed vampire's heart. There was so much chaos caused by Lucas's gunshot that no one seemed to care much about the fight. Two down, four to go. The three vampires who had fallen out of their chairs were beginning to stand and Elliot was going after Abigail. He was the biggest so probably the most difficult to bring down. Elliot was counting on his size and intended to tackle Abigail. Meanwhile Nathaniel was dealing with the three who had just stood up armed with nothing but a broken chair leg. He'd be fine. Abigail could focus on Elliot.
