Triples Cup, or Triples, How Do They Work!?

Triple Battles. Of the formats we've done in our tourneys, this is the only one we've never done anything with yet and plan to fix now. Join us as we try to give this format a shot and see if we can't learn a bit in the process. As announced earlier, we'll be holding this on August 31st, 2016! Signups are officially open until then, and as usual, our rules can be found below!

-----

Battle Format: Triple Battle, Normal Battle rules. Six (6) Pokémon per team. Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire may be used to participate. Bracket is a two-stage Round Robin.

Rules

1. Most Pokémon may be used, with the exception of those banned from use in the Battle Maison. Up to one Legendary AND one Mega Pokemon may be used, and either can be freely swapped for another in-between battles.

2. Held Items are allowed, but no more than two of the same item may be used. Soul Dew is banned from use.

3. No two of the same Pokémon species may be used.

4. Hacked or otherwise altered Pokémon outside of the game's normal means are strictly forbidden. Anyone found out to be using such Pokémon will be disqualified from this tourney and all future tourneys at once.

5. Any player automatically loses if they knock out their last Pokémon through the moves Self-Destruct, Explosion, Destiny Bond or Perish Song, even if the opponent's last Pokémon was also knocked out.

6. Have fun, be a good sport, and play by the rules set forth above.

Prizes

1st Place: Arceus serial code.

2nd Place: Darkrai serial code.

*Codes will be given out privately to whoever wins the code.

Don't know why I haven't posted in here yet. Probably should have long before now. I'm game.

So, updates! As everyone knows, there are three weeks before the tourney begins. While I know at least one other is likely entering, please make sure you post or let me know in some capacity if you plan to enter before we begin on the 31st. Also, due to the current number of expected participants being a weird number, this tourney will be done as a Round Robin.

Apart from that, I'd also like to talk prizes. In the past, we used to give out Gaia Gold, but well. The Gaian economy's kinda tried to do its best impression of Zimbabwe, and so Gold's pretty worthless. We've also had a case or two where a Pokemon was given out, one that was bred. So, to work off that idea, I've managed to get my hands on a serial code card from the currently ongoing Arceus event and will be offering this as a prize to the winner. I'm also going to try and get a second one if I can, as well as offer a Darkrai code when Pokemon.com's September newsletter comes out. Should everything go well, things will look like this:

1st: Arceus code
2nd: Second Arceus code
3rd: Darkrai code

Of course, things can be shifted as needed since I know these codes aren't the hardest to acquire and someone who wins it may already have one. At the very least, though, there will be one Arceus and one Darkrai code that I'll be giving out that will go to the winner and runner up respectively.

I think that sums everything up. The prizes will be added to the first post of this thread, or at least what should be the case. Note that things may still be subject to change, but right now, this is how everything is looking so far. Thank you for your time!

UPDATE: I wasn't able to secure a second Arceus code, unfortunately. However, the one code that I've got and the Darkrai code will still be up for grabs,

Hey, one final update!

Due to the number of participants, as mentioned earlier, this will be a Round Robin tournament. However, there'll be a slight twist to it this time around, in hopes of the tournament being a little longer. So, this will actually be a two-stage tournament! Here's how that works: Basically, the Round Robin happens as usual, and everyone fights everyone else. Once that concludes, however, the top three will battle in a second Round Robin before concluding proper. There's a couple of reasons for that.

First, as I've said, it'll allow the tourney to run a little longer. Second, it means that the first stage ends up as a sort of "meet-and-greet" while the second gives those who advance a chance to temper their strategies even more and learn from the initial battles. With that said, signups are officially closed and battling has begun!

Also, if it's possible, please try to save replays of the battles, if only for others to view after the tourney has concluded, should they wish to.

Due to circumstances that arose shortly after the tourney's start, it has since been decided to cancel it. As I wanted to confirm things, I hadn't formally mentioned it and apologize for not doing so sooner. Codes, however, will still be raffled off; I have one for Arceus, as well as two each for Volcanion and Genesect. As I'll be doing these privately through random.org, I'll inform the participants of what the results end up being.

Regardless, I'm glad for the turnout it did get, however small.
