Hello everyone!

Your, hard at work, guild captain, Echo Penn, is here bringing you another fun topic about manga. A few days ago, I walked into a Barnes and Noble to purchase a cotton candy frap, lol. I was accompanied by my best friend. After we had our beverages, we wanted to check out the latest fantasy books, comic books and mangas. While tumbling through the steam punk design section, eventually finding the manga section, we chat with fellow manga lovers about anime, and books we have read. That's when one of the customers introduced me to the manga called " Doubt ".

Doubt is the first volume in a two part volume Omnibus series. I am going to write what the small description on the back of the book says, just so you guys can get a general understanding of what the story is about.

"Rabbit Doubt - A mobile phone game - has taken Japan by storm. In it, players are rabbits who must uncover the wolf in rabbit's clothing before falling prey to it's wiles...as well as it's teeth. When a group of players decides to meet offline, the last thing they expect is to lose consciousness and wake up trapped in an abandon building, mysterious bar codes, tattooed onto their bodies, and a corpse strung up in front of them. To stay alive, they have but one option - to sniff out the living wolf in their mist. Will these virtual acquaintances be able to pull it together in the real world and avoid ending up the wolf's dinner?"

So that was the summary of the manga, Doubt. I guess you can categorize this manga as a thriller. In the first chapter, all of the character's are thrust into the deadly game of Doubt within several pages after meeting each other. If I had to give advice to anyone who is interested in reading this manga, all I can say is, do not get attached to any of the characters, lol.

Now I haven't read volume two of Doubt. I already saved the second book onto my amazon wish list. I am going to order it as soon as I get paid from my job. For those of you who are interested in Yoshiki Tonoga's other works, you can check out the two book series called," Secrets ". There is also Yoshiki's six volume series called, " Judge ". Both series I am very interested in. "Secret" and "Judge" are two stories that are told in a similar fashion to Doubt. The characters in Yoshiki stories are fighting to survive in a game of Death. Doubt volume one is a pretty good read and it kept me interested at the end of chapter one.

Rabbit Doubt! I read that a long time ago that my mind can't remember most of what happened in the story. :p so don't worry, I don't think I can give you any spoilers.

As for me, I just read it online. There's a bunch of websites that offers free online reading. Or watching. But if you're thinking of collecting the whole series, then it's up to you wink

What hooked me up about Rabbit Doubt is that the killer murders everyone as he/she wears a bunny suit! Isn't it cute? whee Cute and somewhat scary and bloody and gory.

But I'll just say that I somehow don't like the ending. confused Not that I think it's way too sad or way too happy for an ending. I thought it was unrealistic. But hey, I don't remember most of it. But the same thought still burns in the back of my mind, it just scarred my memory, telling me that it was unrealistic. So yeah. That's all. biggrin

Oh wow, really?!

See, I only have read volume 1 recently and I am waiting till I get paid to read volume 2! And based on the little bit I have read, I was hoping the characters would incite a little bit more fear into their emotions. I know they were afraid when they all woke up in the abandon building, but the way they try to handle their situation is a little too organize. For example, the only character, who was a med student ( forgot his name) they first met him when they all woke up inside the building. His entire demeanor ruins the eerie-we're-all-trapped-in-an-abandon-building-with -one-of-us-being-the-possible-wolf-killer-vibe. You see what I mean? I don't know, I just don't like the med student character so much.

The genre of the book isn't new. There has been plenty of other books, movies, even TV shows that uses Doubt Rabbit, The Killer Is Trapped Among Us, storytelling method. Reading the manga was suppose to give me an interesting new perspective on this genre. But I just can't immersed myself into it. I don't know, maybe I have just been spoiled by TV and movies that already did it, lol.

Although I do like the idea that the killer is dressed as a rabbit is murdering everyone, lol.

lol I get you. If it's reality and that happened to me, I'd be crying the whole time and panicking a lot since being trapped in an unknown place without no one to rescue you like in the movie Saw is really scary! Then you have to play games and putting your life on the line.

I like stories like that. If you lose you die.

Right now, I'm reading Darwin's Game and Blackout manga. All about games wherein you die when you lose. Though it's more of an adventure rather than horror/suspense/thriller. Plus it's still ongoing and Rabbit Doubt is already completed. I made an account in kissmanga.com to bookmark mangas that I read and to keep me updated.

The other two books you mentioned, Secrets and Judge, are they manga? Did you buy them, too? I'll search it when I have the time smile

Yeah, the saw movies were more cringe-worthy, uncomfortable slasher gory, lol. But, the fear the characters felt during that situation was immense fear eek ! Especially the first Saw movie that introduced the audience into that type of fear for your life, lol. Darwin's Game and Blackout? I haven't heard of them, I need to google those two stories and see what they are all about.

As for the manga's Judge and Secrets, yes they are manga books by the same author who does Rabbit Doubt. Secrets is just another two part smaller story where the killer (wolf) is a among the people who survived a bus accident. So I am interested in what that story is all about. Judge is the same senerio where the killer passes Judgement on a group of people who did horrible things in their life. And each character dies one by one based on the severity of their crimes. Or the killer would say " their sins", lol.

Judge is a longer manga series though. I think at least 6 books. I'm gonna try to get all six. There not very expensive. They have been around since 2013, I believe.

How much is one volume? I don't know where you live in, but our money here is pesos. And 1 dollar is equivalent to 45 pesos. And I only get 150 pesos for my allowance each day... And I can't save any for myself because the rest is for school waaaahhh totally sucked. Goodbye, mic. Maybe in the next life?

Anyway! xD that's why I only read online. I think there's this one bookstore who sells manga, but not the latest mangas and there's no update. sweatdrop

When you finish the story let me know of what you think about the ending wink
