[Wolfs Heart]

She was mature and beautiful and wise. She was a grown up. Well, sort of. No, not at all. Pippin, like most teenagers, had gotten it into her mind that being a teenager was the same as being an adult. It didn't help that she had spent a small portion of her childhood taking care of herself, but her streak of independence was stronger than ever now. The other children in her adoptive parent, Hjortur's growing family were still 'babies', but she wasn't. It had been nice being his little princess for a while, but she had grown out of that silly phase of her life (mostly).

Pippin was near the palace, currently braiding her hair while she sat on a rock at the bottom of the lake, contemplating what to do with her day. Her fin was flicking at small pebbles as she worked her hair, making some form of music. It was hard to live with Hjortur without picking up some music even if she wasn't skilled with any instruments. Her options for the day seemed to be hunting or causing trouble in the palace. Perhaps she could even adventure to the surface, it wasn't something she was likely to do though.

Chaetodon was on her way back from the kelp forest she was taking population counts on. She easily glided through the water with her woven seaweed bag secured over her shoulder, and she paused to enjoy the gentle glittering of particles moving through the water, catching the light to shine for a moment before giving way to another. She sighed, looking at the rays that were born from the surface water's ripples. She couldn't believe that, at one point, she'd been so fascinated with what was above the surface. She really had been a child then.

Now, her interest was what she could discover here in the 'home' waters, and out in the lagoons and bays and coastal waters of the island. She was enthralled, really, by how everything worked together in the end, and it was comforting to think that eventually things smooth themselves like the jagged rocks that eventually turn to softened sides after the work of the ocean.

As she swam, she noticed the bright red young naiad, sitting there with what seemed an absolutely bored expression. A small smile came over Chaetodon's face and she swam over and stopped in front of the younger lady. "Good day!" She greeted brightly.

Kira of Flames

Pippin hadn't really noticed the other naiad approaching her. Being that she was sitting so close to the entrance of the palace, she was used to naiad passing her as they went about their business. She was mostly staring off into space anyways. When the other pae addressed her, she tucked the braid she was working on behind her ear fin as her dark green eyes jumped to meet the other's. "Hey," she said in a cool, less formal way than the other had greeted her. She was a teenager after-all.

"How are you today?" Pippin took notice that she was coming towards the palace instead of going away. So she was coming back? Or her business was at the palace. Pippin was curious, perhaps whatever the adult had been doing would give her some inspiration. She wasn't really sure how to go about asking though. It wasn't like she was still a child and could blurt out whatever she was thinking. "Where are you coming from?" She tried to say it in a way where the question didn't sound rude, but she felt that she had failed horribly at that.

Chae kept the chuckle to herself, immediately recognizing the typical adolescent behavior. She could see a flicker of curiosity go through the young naiad's eyes. Tucking a strand of dark green hair behind her headfin, she pulled a stray blade of kelp from her hair. "Oh, I wasn't doing too much, just taking some population numbers from the kelp forests on the urchins. I'm thinking of taking a trip out to the island coast pretty soon to do a numbers survey out there as well. At least for part of the coast."

It wasn't the safest choice, but she liked to occasionally check in to see how the habitats along the coast were doing. It was a good habit to keep an eye on things, just in case.

"By the way, my name is Chaetodon, but it's a mouthful. Chae is just fine. What is your name?" She offered out a hand to shake with.
