Sorry for the unexpected hiatus, guys. The new job has been surprisingly demanding. There was a general plan of me learning certain aspects of the job, but a new program started which has drastically increased our workload. I've learned that pretty well but I haven't had time to really focus on the parts of the job I was intended to do, which has meant a lot of extra overtime to get things done because I don't know them well enough to get them done quickly yet. WIP.
On average, I've been leaving the house around 7:30 am, and getting home about 7:30 pm, and working full days Saturdays too for catch-up. My average day has been: Work, get home, relax a bit, have dinner, and go to bed. I haven't had time to go out with friends, and the D&D game I was DMing IRL has also grinded to a halt because I don't have the energy nor prep time to run it right now.
For my department, it's an especially busy time of year; they have to get final reports done for the previous year, and then immediately focus on inventory requests for the following year. Having only been there for 8 weeks, I don't know what else will happen in the year that might create excessive work, but I think this time of the year is ultimately the busiest for the vacation industry.
Definitely looking forward to when we get caught up! My department has a manager, supervisor, 3 analysts, and a specialist (me, since I'm newest). Originally the plan was to only hire me; with the new unexpected workload, they are now hiring 2 more people just to cope. They haven't even figured out where they're going to put them, since there are no available desks. X_x
So, yeah, my life in a nutshell. This will continue when I'm less overworked, promise.
