As soon as Vremea heard it was Odette, Vremea felt her breath go shallow. No way... no. She-- the hand... with wild eyes and a pump biscuit thumping loud, Vremea let out a feral snarl, immediately digging through the vines and the rocks. No, no no no NO! She needed to heal her, yes, she needed to heal her again!! It didn't matter if she was tired, she needed to be healed...!! As tears slid down her face, unnoticed by the yellowblood, the yellowblood let out a small whine. "Keionx! I need you to go f-find Milieu! Go, please, go!" Milieu was stronger than her, they could help her together-- where was Athene?! She could help too, yes, they needed to help her, to save her-- "ODETTE! Please, please...!!" She screamed, tearing at the rocks and vines, finally managing to get her body at least somewhat uncovered.

Placing a hand on Odette's side, Vremea closed her eyes and concentrated, focusing on healing her morail, body shaking from over-exertion. She couldn't needed to save her, to help her, she was mortally injured and Vremea was fine, honestly, she just needed some rest, just a little, she needed to save Odette, please, Odette, please... The more she focused, the less she paid attention to her surroundings, squeezing her eyes shut as tears slid down them, body pushing all the energy she had into hers... but... suddenly, overexertion caught up with her. As her body relaxed and the rest of her meager amount of energy slid into Odette, Vremea's head felt woozy, and when she tried to move again-- a wave of dizziness slid over her, body instantly falling to the floor and passing out.

Vremea's cry tore at Keionx and the girl jerked her hands away from the vines, nodding emphatically at the request. She staggered to her feet, fighting the dizziness that came as she sought around for a hint of teal. Yes. Milieu – the tealblood that had stood in to protect her as well.

Keionx thought she saw her amidst the chaos and, desperately clinging to the task and its gracious reprieve from her despair, dashed off after the mirage. ”Milieu!” she called, ”Milieu! Help!”

If Vremea thought Milieu could help Odette, then Keionx had no reason to believe otherwise. She needed Mili to help. She needed Odette to be helped.

Otherwise... Otherwise...

Otherwise was unthinkable.

Kabukidad was a white spectre, slipping down the wreckage on all fours. His skin was stained with blood of all colors. It was so saturated, that he dripped, sagging onto the ground that he tread on as he made his way to his charge. After a while, the pigments began to melt away. The evidence of this would be gone once again from the lusus, who chittered as he spotted Tamiya amongst the rubble. His voice was a chorus. Harmonies of hooting, barking and honking accompanied each slinky step. Disgraceful. The troll had fallen unconscious in the water. She could have drowned, but as luck would have it, she was face-up. Her lips and nose were just above the surface of the water. Her make-up was a mere pale smear on her face now -- the elements had completely wiped it away. Tamiya had a peaceful expression. Her masculine features were revealed under her make-up, a strong jawline and brow relaxed in her state.

Not only did you ********' disobey me, but you shame the Messiahs. I expected more from you, my kit b***h. Wake the ******** up.

The vulpine lusus announced. He stepped up onto Tamiya's chest, sitting on his haunches as his mitts pressed against her torso. He began to knead, tilting his head just so to peer at her from an oblong angle.

The results were immediate. Kabukidad's mitts bit into her like the jaws of skulls pressing through suede. The shock immediately made Tamiya start, gasping for air and swallowing water and oil from the cave floor. She spat and sputtered, hyperventilating. Kabukidad sat still, his paws in the center of her chest.

This rebellious shiteating teen phase of yours has to stop.

Tamiya convulsed. The pain was immense, and she was surrounded by her own blood. As she whipped her head up, she had nearly lost consciousness again. Everything was hazy and white. The paws on her chest tightened, and she gulped. "C-cannot... Breathe..." Tamiya sputtered. Kabukidad gave her a look. What do you have to ********' say?

Tamiya wheezed and struggled, the veins in her neck tensing. She nearly cracked her horns on the cave floor in the commotion, and her long hair had fallen completely out of place. Everything was falling apart. Kabukidad finally removed himself, and stood by her side. Tamiya deflated. She whimpered, finally feeling the results of her wounds after his pressure had gone. Was this his punishment, or was more to come?

Odette. No. Tamiya sat up in a flash. Her hair stuck to her face and she scrabbled at it with bloody fingers, freeing her vision. Where the bladed seeds were were now raw cuts - they burned. The marks of the vines searing her burned. Everywhere her clothes had been shredded felt like it was covered in ice, stinging but not yet numb. Worse still, the cavern was collapsing. She didn't have time. Tamiya hoped she could walk. Grimacing, Tamiya pleaded with Kabukidad. "Where is she?"

That was not the tone Kabukidad was looking for. He had raised her better than that. The lusus got down on all fours and paced around her form, hopping with capricious mischief.

'Scuse me, ******** where is she? Did I goddamn stutter?" Tamiya roared. She pulled herself up and lunged at Kabukidad, who strafed backwards easily. Tamiya fell onto her hands and knees, shrieking from her wounds again. The tactic was effective. She soon was on her feet again, focused and furious. Kabukidad was satisfied.

Better. This way.

He slipped ahead, bounding from rock to rock and over knots of plants. Wreckage and blood were unavoidable. Tamiya stumbled and tried her best to stay close to her lusus, but he would not wait up just as he had in the caves. He had surely been testing her then, too. It never seemed to cease. Just like life - you can easily go down a wrong path, if you're not alert. Every night is a test of strength. Stay on the Messiah's path, and you'll achieve Paradise.

There she was.

The slender body of the dancer, half uncovered in the wreckage. There was a yellowblood, too, still on the ground. Dead? She seemed to be. She vaguely remembered a well-dressed yellowblood during the WACKY expedition. This very well could have been her. Tamiya needed to sanctify her, but she had no time. She couldn't check - she couldn't stop and do her rituals. She would pray for them later. Odette had to be saved. The purpleblood stepped near Odette and held her. Somehow, she was alive. A warm, healing glow was present around the girl. Thank gog.

With the remainder of her strength, Tamiya dug Odette out of her tomb. Her legs seemed to be in proper order, her body as it should be. Tamiya stomached the sight of the wounds and released a shuddering breath. This was horrific. She needed to bring her back to health, but first - they needed to get out.

"Father! Help carry Odette. We are going to my moirail's hive immediately."

He conceded. With help from her lusus, Tamiya stumbled out of the main cave. Through the jungle. It was a bizarre sight, wandering backwards out of hell itself. Who knew it was so verdant? It didn't matter. What mattered was that the two were safe. If they could make it out of the caves and to Sinter's, Tamiya could fix everything. She longed to solve her ails, like she had before. Like she always did. Tamiya's grim expression was desperate, amplified by her clear face. Her faith told her to "follow what was all up in her pump biscuit", but at what risk? Tamiya had not yet decided what kind of omen Odette was. Her father had seen her cleansing, yet he was still doubtful. The ritual had been foolproof. And yet now, Odette had exerted some kind of power over her. Was that what it was? An unseen force that caused her to cure her, again and again. A soul link, like that between her and Larque. Tamiya reflected only as long as she could, before thoughts of her own suffering drowned out her confusion over the redblood.

Regardless of what it was, it would prove to be the reason for Tamiya and Odette's survival.

All around the cave cracked and heaved as if, in the throes of death, Aendal was using the last ounce of his energy to give birth to a plant based monster. Milieu ducked and clutched at the ground, and while she herself was not able to cry in terror, her mute, gaping mouth echoed the other cries of the cavern. Large chunks were falling down, breaking and crushing those who opposed their might. Milieu felt an abrupt rush of warmth and wondered, in her state of shock, if she had been impaled by something and had gone so numb to not notice.

It was the dripping jade blood, that pooled from her head and dribbled down the bridge of her nose that said otherwise. Grimacing, the teen stood and averted her eyes from the dead Aendal. Did it always end like this? Violence, blood. Misery, Crying. Panic, Madness. It was just like the Old Hemisect City battle. A cold shudder ran down her spine.

Odette! Odette-- Vremea's voice? How, in this chaos, the teal troll could pick up that was beyond her. Maybe it was less heard, but felt. A soul connection plucked like a string, vibrating all the way to Milieu. Both her friends, in sorrow, crying for help. Milieu shook away the idea and moved. Staying still and moaning over the pass was not an option. They survived OHC. They lived. By god, they would live again.

Picking a way across the debris and bodies, Milieu sought any sort of familiar shade. Yellow, Orange, Red, Green... Yellow... Orange... Not either of which were hers. Red? No, a different red. Memories of a sweet little red blood, with wild fluffy hair, and an innocence too pure to be fighting, stopped her in her tracks. No... it... It wasn't that shade. Milieu swallowed down the bile and continued to move. It was slow going. As well as the falling ceiling and unsteady ground, the wounds received from the battle were painful. Traveling was not easy.

"Milieu!" "Milieu! Help!"

Keinox? Milieu jerked in the direction of the voice. There, a flash of orange and black. And Yellow. HER yellow. With renewed vigor she began to run, as best as possible, towards the little one. There was no time to ask questions on the white board, or even pantomime or wait for Keinox to explain. As soon as Milieu made it to Kei, she nodded, gave the little troll a tight quick hug, and move in the direction of the yellow glimpse.

And there she lay, her princess. Milieu felt teal tears well in her eyes. Vremea. God, what had happened? And Where was Odette? There was a puddle of red near them, so large that Milieu had to avert her eyes. Odette's red. Gagging, the troll turned and dry retched a few times, the stress overwhelming her as well as the powerful scents of death, oil, fire, plant, and blood.

Biting her lower lip, she looked back at Vremea and scooped her up in her arms, carrying her bridal style. It was easier than lifting the dead weight over her shoulder and going fireman. How the hell she even had the strength to do this was beyond the matchmaker. Magic? Science? Love? Maybe the last. When they weren't in mortal danger she'd be sure to contemplate it more.

Nodding to Keinox, she gave the little troll the most meaningful, "We must escape NOW" look possible.

The scene was becoming too convoluted, too horrendous, too terrible. The stories never ended this way. The villain was destroyed, but now... but now...

Keionx felt cold, horribly cold, as she returned with Milieu to behold her friend – the kind, older troll who ran the library, who she had every reason to look up to, downed on the ground. Her throat clogged at the fact that Vremea could be dead too. She did not see Odette, but she didn't need to to know she had failed.

She had failed.

It was her fault.

Not all of it she admonished herself, but that didn't matter. It felt like it. So, at Milieu's nod, Keionx was happy to leave. She ran. Though she honestly was only moving as fast as Mili, she was running, she was fleeing and she hated herself for every moment of it.
