"Mm, not really. I'm given the privilege of looking of seeing you in them. Besides, I need to get out more."
The latter was quite true, as there really wasn't much to do on the island besides menial tasks, and he'd rather not be cooped up in his room doing mission reports, god forbid.
"Well, rather than more stuffed animals and pillows, I think I'm satisfied with this sleeping companion right here."
He pulled Sherry down on the bed, holding her tight.
"After all, she cuddles back, is warm, and smells good."
He sighed, and nestled his face into her hair.
"Sorry again about the present. If you want, maybe we can head out again sometime later, if you haven't used up all your portal privileges."

"Well if that's what you want then I'll be sure to drag you along next time I go shopping for myself." It was said with a smirk.
"Oh," she laughed again, sinking into the snuggle, "really? Glad to hear I am satisfactory." She nestled up against him. "And to know that I smell good. I think you smell quite nice, too."
Leaning against him, she closed her eyes. "No, I don't need any other present. My boyfriend is cuddling with me and telling me I smell nice. It's really quite wonderful. Best sort of gift." The tiniest of sighs. "But if you did want to go out, I do have more off time I use. Not that we need to. I'm serious, Jake, you don't need to get me anything other than yourself. Just a bit of your time, a little bit of you. Let me see you smile and I'm happy." The last was punctuated by more snuggles.
After a few moments, she asked, "Is there anything you want that I need to be getting you?"

He wasn't sure if she was just saying that because she didn't want him to feel bad, but it did make him feel a little bit better about not getting her something, and he sighed, holding her close.
"No, not satisfactory. You're perfect, Sherry. Absolutely perfect."
It was times like these he wondered if he even deserved it. There were times when he treated her terribly, not accounting for his memory gap, and yet she stayed by his side, satisfied with someone like him. He really didn't deserve it, but he was happy. For once, things were going well, and he only hoped it would stay that way for a bit longer. By now, he didn't dare get his hopes up, especially considering their streaks as hunters, but still, all he wanted right now was to hold her and never let go.
"Are you really happy with such a thing?" he chuckled. It was a mundane question, because it was exactly what he had wanted also. "All I want is to hold you and know that you're mine, to stay like this a little while longer..."
He closed his eyes and sighed.
It was a selfish wish, since he knew she had things to do, but just a little while shouldn't hurt. Just a little...

"Flattery," she said, amused. The type of thing Armagnac loved to hear, but Sherry was not her weapon. She knew she far from perfect, but it still made her happy to have him say she was. "Flattery, but I thank you for it." Her smile carried in her voice.
"I am. I'm happy right now, you know." She really was. All the poets and writers and grandparents that had ever said the best things in life are free, or that it's the little things, the quite moments that matter... Sherry couldn't agree with them more. Especially not right then. "Very happy. And I suppose I don't need to be in a hurry to leave." She found his hand and pulled it up to her lips so she could kiss the back of it. "I'm yours and you're mine, and I'm warm and safe... " She let the sentence fade out with a sigh. "This is- you are my kind of perfect," she whispered.
"Though I might fall asleep at this rate," she added, still whispering. "If you're free later you could join me for errands...then we could see about putting in for a weekend off island..." She was most certainly going to fall asleep.

Jake chuckled, and pulled her closer.
"I don't see anything with wanting to compliment my beautiful girlfriend."
For him on the other hand, he was far from perfect. Scars marred him physically and emotionally, but little by little, he was learning to let go. He couldn't keep dwelling on the past. It was time to love on, and time to accept the fact that there was nothing wrong with being a little selfish. Everyone deserves some happiness in their lives... even someone like him.
"Ah, we can't have that."
He got up, pulling Sherry up with him so that her back rested against his chest.
"I wouldn't want you getting in trouble. What kind of boyfriend would I be if I can't even help you keep your good reputation?"
Truth be told, it was probably tarnished the moment she accepted him as her boyfriend, but selfishness outweighed reasoning. If she was happy, then so was he.
"Mm, a weekend off the island sounds nice..."
He leaned down to kiss her neck and sighed.
"I'll be looking forward to it."

"I suppose if my sweet and wonderful boyfriend wants to compliment me, I should let him." She honestly liked the compliments. And the cuddles. Really there was no reason they couldn't just stay there all day--
"Oh," she said with a laugh as he pulled her up and awake, "I don't know. But if spending time with you damages my reputation, it's worth it." She liked leaning on him like this. Warm, safe, comforting in her soul. She liked the little, soft kiss on her neck, too. "We can put in the paperwork for it later, make sure everything is squared away and proper."
Sherry sighed, happiness warming her over. Unbidden, her mind recalled a Christmas before this one... How many winters had she had with Jake? Three? Where had they been last year? And the year before... he didn't even remember.
Maybe it was because she'd been sleepy a moment before, but Sherry found tears welling up behind her eyes as emotions did a little bit of swelling in her chest. The only way she could see to deal with said emotions was a hug. So she turned, wrapped her arms around him, and pulled him close and tight.
"I love you." It seemed the best phrase to sum everything up. But being Sherry she had to say more. "I love you, you're wonderful, and I want to put my errands off for a little while." She was happy in that moment, and she wanted to savor it for as long as possible.

Jake was never quite sure how to interpret a women's tears, as seeing them often made him feel guilty, as if he were the cause of it. Well... in this case, he guessed he was, but he hoped they were good tears, if... they could be called such a thing. He didn't want to think about how many times he had actually made her cry.
At those three words though, he smiled, and sighed, holding her close.
"I love you too."
Part of him wanted to say something else, or compliment her further, but he was at a loss for words. Sometimes silence was the best response.
