"Yeah?" Reed replied as he closed the door behind him. He caught Alan's expression and moved to be next to him. "You okay? Need something to drink?" He was prepared to get the alcohol out, knowing that that would help the most tonight.

He shook his head, moving closer to Reed and wrapping his arms around his waist. "Just hold me," he whispered, closing his eyes and resting his head on the man's chest.

Reed hesitated at first, then put his arms around Alan and held him close. He opened his mouth to try and say something reassuring, but stopped. There wasn't anything he could say right now that would change anything, was there? He closed his mouth and placed his chin on top of Alan's head, holding him for as long as he needed.

"Your music will live on."

After a few moments of silent reassurance, Alan pulled away a little, then looked up at Reed. "Come on," he muttered, taking Reed's hands and starting to walk towards the bedroom. They probably weren't going to have sex, but he didn't mind either way. in times like these, all that made him feel better was seeing that look on Reed's face.

Reed allowed Alan to lead him to the bedroom. If it was sex the scientist wanted then he'd have to wait. Reed would give it to him, but right now he wasn't in the mood, and he was sure Alan felt the same way. He sat down at the edge of the bed and leaned forward until his forearms were resting on his knees, looking at the scientist to see what he wanted to do next.

The physicist shut the door, then walked over to Reed, standing right in front of him. He leaned down, pressing his lips to Reed's in a sweet, simple kiss. It lasted for about a minute before he pulled away, then moved to sit on the bed beside Reed. He tilted to the side, resting his head on Reed's shoulder and setting his hand on Reed's leg. "I love you," he said very quietly.

"You were my everything."

After returning the kiss, Reed put an arm around Alan's shoulders and rubbed his arm. "I love you, too." he said. He still couldn't believe it. Alan gave up his safe haven for the musician's sake. He didn't lose it, he had it taken from him, and from a stubborn, unfair, and miserable man. Reed wanted revenge. He wanted to find a way to make that man pay for cheating like that, but right now, at this very moment, he wanted to comfort Alan.
They might stay this quiet and still for the rest of the night, and he was fine with that. He'd do whatever it'd take to make Alan smile again.

Pulling his feet up, Alan let himself be comforted. It was so easy to pretend that he didn't feel anything, like he did when he was alone, but he couldn't bear to close himself up again. At least, not with Reed. He wanted to be as open as possible with him. With a small sigh, he relaxed against Reed's side and breathed slowly. "I don't want you to dwell on this. I offered to give up my lab, I wasn't forced into it." He kept his eyes closed, his voice still quiet and low.

Reed shook his head slowly. "I just don't get it." he said softly and looked at Alan. "I could've gotten another job, I would've visited you as much as I could. Why would you give that up just so I could stay a teacher?"

"Because I'm selfish." was Alan's whispered reply. He opened his eyes and turned his head to look at Reed, sitting upright and setting his hands on his lap. "I don't want to be somewhere where you aren't within reach. The lab was my security blanket, but I don't need it. I was alone and isolated in that lab, and I was convinced I liked it that way. But I don't want to ever be alone again." Alan reached for the musician's hand with both of his, his thumbs stroking the back of Reed's hand. "Maybe it makes me childish, but I couldn't bear the thought of you being so far from me for so much of the day." He blushed, looking down at their hands.

Hearing the reasoning from the timid scientist, Reed smiled softly and reached out to caress his cheek with his free hand. "Al..." he murmured and leaned in to kiss him. If he had lost his job as a teacher then he knew his visits to Alan would be limited, and he knew it would be annoying and hard to get things back to the way they were, but to know that even the smallest visit meant that much to Alan meant a lot to the musician.

Alan tilted his head up to meet Reed's, kissing him back sweetly. His hands held tightly to Reed's, as if he were afraid to let him go. After a few moments, Alan pulled away for a second to look over the handsome man in front of him, his eyes tracing the tattoo that he hardly noticed anymore. "You shouldn't let me depend on you so much," he scolded gently before leaning in for another kiss.

"I don't know about that." smirked Reed as he wrapped an arm around Alan's waist, hoisting him up to straddle him. "I kinda like it." He kissed the scientist again. Slowly he could feel the dread of earlier fade away. All he was focused on now was this sweet man in front of him and his overwhelming love for him.

Alan's arms slid around the man's neck as he was moved, the movement so easy and natural to him that he was a little surprised. With a smile of his own, he couldn't bring himself to come up with a biting remark. "I kinda like it too." He opted to say, slim body arching just a little as they kissed again. Each kiss brought fire to Alan's skin, a glowing warmth that he was addicted to.
