A deal with the devil? That seemed to be what this was turning out to be...Xantos was at least intrigued. What kind of boy would he be if adventure and power weren't something that appealed to him? Xantos did not know what sort of power this was. A Faustian bargain maybe? Perfect...it was new. He made a rough estimate of the sound's original point and leveled his hand at an angle to launch the needle down into the darkness.
"What sort of power? What's the catch?" He asked sternly, back down the tunnel and continued his advance. There was always a catch. How was he, a random and unfortunate genin, a gift from the heavens?
"It really is rather simple. I give you this gift, and in return one day, I will appear again and ask you for a single favor. Nothing more, nothing less." It wasn't entirely true, but it would be enough for the young gennin.

xxxxxMasako walked down the dark hallways, passing empty chambers and dead ends as she navigated her way downwards. She moved with a swift pace, almost gliding through the endless tunnels that led to her lab. She at last turned down what seemed to be a dead end. She raised her hand and gently pushed on the wall, which slid open with ease, revealing a small chamber beyond that she quickly entered. The door slid shut behind her with a barely audible click, letting her know the lock had been engaged, meaning it could only be opened from her side now. She looked around the dark chamber for a moment before flipping a switch on the wall. Overhead, lights flickered to life, flooding the chamber in a dim light. It revealed rows of tables and shelves, all covered in different things, ranging from dusty scrolls to jars filled with odd looking liquids, among other things. It felt good to be home after so long.

xxxxxMasako woke with a jolt for a moment. She looked around her small lab, letting her eyes adjust to the light. It seemed she had fallen asleep at some point. She had been awoken by what seemed to be a clicking noise coming from somewhere in her lab. It was odd, there was no way someone had made it through her maze of traps and had found the exact panel along the wall that led to her lab. She turned, and began to walk to a small bed in the corner, hoping to get back to sleep when she heard it again. The clicking lasted for a few moments before disappearing again. This time, Masako closed her eyes for a second, right as the clicking began. Instantly, she pinpointed the corner of the room it was coming from and almost jumped across the room to where it was coming from. She was dumbfounded for a second, when she saw a small, white little being dragging an oversized scroll into the middle of her lab. It looked up to her for a moment before kicking open the scroll to reveal a list of names and bloody finger prints. It walked to the next open slot and began jumping up and down, staring at Masako for a second. It was odd, almost like it wanted her to sign it. She went to the table, picking up a small knife. She knelt down and pricked her finger before righting her name in the open slot and pressing her finger prints to the bottom of the page. Almost instantly, she felt an intense pang in her head as it felt like it was flooded with knowledge. She knew the thing in front of her was a spirit called a Kodama, and that she could summon that at any time, and that there was a myriad of other creatures she could draw forth. She looked up at the little spirit to see him trying to claw his way up onto her shoulder. Gently, she reached out her hand and lifted him to her shoulder, before rolling up the scroll, and throwing it around her waist. She set out for a village, closing her passageway behind her, heading out into the dark forest.
