I have heard that zOMG! is not under maintenance starting today? So, what is going to happen?

I don't really know~
There was an announcement that gave a rough time frame of when to expect maintenance, not an exact date. So I think it's all just user speculation running amok about whether or not it'll happen. Not sure though. I just might have missed a more updated message.
I'm not surprised that there is fear. Though the announcement says that zOMG will be placed back up, Gaia hasn't exactly been sticking to its word lately.

I can still get on zomg. But at some unspecified time in the future- most likely near future, but this is Gaia- zomg will be coming down for maintanence. Supposedly for several weeks before hopefully being put back up. The pessimistic cynic in me fears this will be the final nail in the zomg coffin. gonk

I hope not... cause then less people on gaia, more gold at first since it will be a very small amount left of items cause of the wait until everything is sold, then gold will lower in the MP cause 1 part of it is going down and rings are REALLY expensive and so r the materials and some recipes! This is a disaster!

They might be trying to fix some of the time lags. I know I've had some weird stuff happen where I couldn't move or would be floating off the edge of a cliff unable to move while monsters could still attack. O__O

Or maybe they're trying to add more quests to do or something...

For rings....its much easier just to Papa Saw or Shallow Seas farm for ring drops. The only really expensive recipes are the ones from Dead Mans Shadow, in particular the recipe drops from beating Blood Lust. Other recipes you can get from farming- on the zomg forum there are also lists and guides as to what monsters drop which items and recipes.

O: Don't buy rings from the marketplace. Aside from a couple that were sold in the shop and aren't found in game (those have to be brought from the mp), most rings will drop in game. It doesn't seem like it now, but you will get multiples upon multiples of rings as you play. :3 Just do as Madam Chai said. ^^

You've noticed that you can't sell any of your rings that have dropped in game, right? All* rings are soulbound.
There was a short period of time when zOMG was first released where rings weren't soulbound. Some users still have unsoulbound rings from that time. Once you equip those rings in your ring tray they become soulbound. Anyway, those rings are in limited supply and overpriced. :> They would be a quick way to grab a level 10 ring... but not worth it.
*There are a couple exceptions for rings that were sold for cash or part of an event. They will never soulbind.

...And yeah... as you said, those formulas and materials should experience inflation during this time... Mostly the materials and I think some of them are used in Alchemy.

I knew that rings were souldbound but was never sure on how people could still sell them. It's going to stink until zOMG! is up and running again. When did they say they were closing it down for maintenance?

zOMG said that they'd be closing ever since christmas. zOMG is having glitches and bugs they are going to fix the purple mushroom reg and hard is an example. It won't be completely gone like everyone makes it sound, gaia said it will be down for a couple weeks. I laugh at the people who think zOMG is closing for good, and think zOMG items will go into Billions. Trust me It will be a little while when its closed, but dont spend billions on zomg items that will come back in a few weeks

I definitely won't spen that much at all. I barley spend any on materials now unless I am missing some and then I buy as much as I can for cheap and in bulk. I was just trying to understand since everyones reactions were extreme.

I never really got into zong... I tried playing a little & gave up cuz I just couldn't get interested in it... But somehow I've ended up with some of the items so I been selling them in MP...
