"Probably where it all started.." said Steve, his eyes scanning the bright room. Natasha wouldn't have recognized any of this technology, though he did. Together, the two walked through a door at the fat side of the room where they came face to face with portraits of past agents of SHIELD. Howard Stark and Peggy were the two that Captain noticed first. God, she looked so beautiful. From her ruby red lips to her beautiful dark hair that hung just past her shoulders and her twinkling blue eyes that always used to light up whenever she looked at him, like Natasha's do. Caught up in all the memories, Steve found himself staring at the photo and quickly shifted his gaze to Howard's for a second or two.
The duo continued their venture down the narrow hallway, past bookshelves that were dowsed in disgusting cobwebs. He noticed two bookshelves that were oddly spaced apart. "If you already work in a secret office, why should you hide the elevator?" Steve murmured mostly to himself as he gripped one of the wooden bookcases firmly before yanking it across the floor, effortlessly. And there stood a pair of large metal elevator doors.

Don't think I'm helpless.. ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢ ◢
The two walked across the empty and dusty room,after a moment they entered into another room. Portraits of past agents of SHIELD was hanging on the wall in front of them,Natasha walked closer to take a good look of the portraits before she noticed Howard Stark. "Stark's father.." She said,glancing at Steve. She noticed that he was staring at the portrait with the female,she looked beautiful and Natasha was curious about her. "Who's the girl?" She asked,turning her face to look at Steve who stayed silent and walked away.
The red haired female glanced one more time at the picture before she walked after Steve quietly,her bright eyes looked around but Steve was the first one who found the hidden elevators. Natasha used her small machine to scan the numbers,it didn't took her a long time before she pressed the right code and the elevator's door opened. Once it was open,she walked inside and waited for Steve to get in. The elevator moved down and Natasha stood quietly until it finally stopped,the doors opened and revealed a very dark room. She walked slowly forward,turning her head to the sides to see something but it was too dark. Suddenly,the lights flickered until it was turned on and showed the old technology in the room. Natasha looked around,furrowing her eyebrows. She just couldn't belive that it was the right place.."The technology is too old..it can't be this place.."She mumbled,looking around with confused expression. The red haired female moved a few steps forward until she saw the USB machine,she took out the USB from her pocket and glanced down at the machine before she connected the USB to it. The big machines around them started to move and make noises,Natasha took a step back to look around the place. Noticing how all the old machine began to work. It was interesting to see how everything was suddenly working,after all the machines were very old and to tell the truth it surprised Natasha. The main computer that was in front of them was turned on,asking if they wanted to initialize system. Natasha leaned forward to the keyboard and looked down at the keyboard."Y-E-S." After a moment she raised her head back up to the screen,smikring slightly."Shall we play a game?" She thought that Steve probably didn't understand why she said that so she turned around to look at him."It's a part from a movie.."She explained with a small smile,glancing back at the computer.

Steve followed Natasha into the dark room and when the lights flickered on, it revealed very old technology. The boxy computers were set up in an orderly fashion around the large room and Steve looked around as he followed Natasha. After she plugged in the USB, the computer screens lit up and began to make strange noises. Captain stood behind the redhead with his hulking arms folded firmly across his chest and was staring at the computer screen when Natasha spoke. "Yeah, I saw it." he interrupted, rather rudely. Truth be told, he was just annoyed with people constantly assuming that he knew nothing about today's technology or entertainment. He had been around for about a year now for god's sake.
"Rogers, Steven. Born 1918." the computer spoke. "Romanoff, Natasha Alianovna. Born 1984." Steve recognized this voice almost instantly. "This is not a record. I would not be the man that Captain made prisoner in 1945, but I exist." Captain began to walk around the computer, eyebrows knitted as he studied the various wires that were attached. "Arnim Zola. A German scientist who worked for Red Skull. He's long dead." he explained. "First error, I am Swiss. Second error, look around. I have never been so alive. In 1972, I was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Science could not save my body, but my mind deserved to be saved. You are in my brain, Captain." Captain made his way back around to Natasha and stood beside her. "How did you get here?" he questioned. A clip of the events that occurred after WW2 appeared on the screen. "After World War 2, SHIELD recruited Germans with strategic capabilities. I thought that I could help their cause, and I did. HYDRA died along with Red Skull. Cut a head and two grow back, no?" This didn't make any sense! Steve had shut down their entire operation many, many years ago. "Prove it." he ordered.
"Accessing archive." the man spoke in his thick German accent. A clip of Red Skull began to play as he went on. "HYDRA was founded on the belief that humanity could not be trusted with its own freedom." Steve stepped closer to the computer. "What we did not realize was that if you tried to take that freedom, they resist." A black and grey clip of Captain was shown. He was leading his soldiers into battle, dressed in his old Stars and Stripes uniform. On his arm was his shield and in his opposite hand, a gun. "The war taught us much. Humanity needed to surrender it's freedom willingly." Yet another clip of Steve was shown, this time he had a smile on his face as he walked alongside his old friend, Bucky. He pressed his lips together and fisted his hands, jaw tensed. "After the war, SHIELD was founded and I was recruited. The new HYDRA grew a powerful parasite alongside SHIELD." he went on. "For seventy years, HYDRA has been secretly feeding christ's, weeping war. And when history did not cooperate, history was changed. HYDRA has created a world so chaotic that humanity is finally willing to sacrifice it's freedom to gain security." The hellicarriers that Fury had shown him appeared and everything made sense
- HYDRA was going to target Earth. They had assassinated Fury because he was catching onto their plans. "Once the purification process is complete, HYDRA's new world order will arise." Steve's heart began to pound against his chest and he felt his temperature rise.
He tensed his jaw as he looked over at another computer. This one showed a newspaper article of him, one that was headlined 'ROGERS DISAPPEARS'. "We won, Captain. Your death amounts to the same as your life: a zero sum." he hissed. That did it. Steve clenched his fist and with a grunt, punched the screen as hard as he possibly could. Zola only appeared on another screen and continued. "As I was saying... Project Insight requires knowledge, so I have written an algorithm." he continued. Captain furrowed his eyebrows. "And what will it do?" he questioned. "The answer to your question is truly fascinating, but unfortunately you will be too dead to hear it."

Natasha was staring at the screen,her face was very serious. It was even more strange when the computer started to speak,it knew the year Steve was born. Plus,it even knew the year she was born! "It must be some kind of a record..." Natasha mumbled but then the computer spoke and told her that it's not a record."Steve,you know this thing?" She asked,turning her head to look at him. Natasha stayed in her own spot,confused. She turned her head from the screen and looked around the whole room.
"It was Operation Paper Clip...After World War II." Natasha shook her head slightly. She glanced at Steve then looked back at the screen,crossing her arms under her chest. Clips started to appear on the screen,at first it was a clib of Red Skull. After that another clip was showed,this time Captain showed. He was leading soldiers and dressed in a stars and stripes unifrom. The red haired female stepped closer to the screen and watched the clips quietly.Natasha furrowed at the screen before taking another step forward."That's impossible.." When Steve punched the screen,Natasha took a step back then turned to look at the other screen. It still spoke to them! Unbelievable! Suddenly the metal doors closed themselves and Natasha quickly took out a small machine that beeped."Steve..We've got short-range ballistic missile.. 30 seconds at the most." Natasha raised her head up to look at him with a concered expression,knowing that they won't be able to escape on time."It's from SHIELD..." It was even worse than she thought. Natasha quickly ran to grab the USB stick.

"Steve.. we've got a short-range ballistic missile.. 30 seconds at the most." she informed. The doors to the elevator were beginning to close and Steve quickly turned on the spot and whipped his dominant arm, sending his vibranium shield flying a mile a minute toward the doors. Unfortunately, they closed just as his shield hit them which caused it bounced back. Captain caught it out of the air with an aggravated groan as he looked back to Natasha. "Who fired?" he questioned. "It's from SHIELD..." she answered. Natasha ran to grab the USB just as a loud beeping noise filled the room. "Admit it, it's better this way." Zola hissed. Captain glanced around for a moment before he spotted a caged section of the floor and in two long strides, he bent down and ripped it out of the floor effortlessly and tossed it carelessly to the side. They only had seconds by now and once Natasha retrieved the USB, he grabbed her by the arm and forced her to jump in first and followed in after, holding his shield behind his back just as the building began to explode. Steve quickly wound a muscular arm around her back, crushing her against his torso as he raised his shield above their heads, letting out loud and pained groans as the building slowly began to collapse on top of them...

Everything slowly grew darker as the building continued to collapse. After a few minutes, with Natasha still gripped in his arm, Steve clenched his jaw and shoved his shield upwards with a loud grunt. Above ground, flames were spreading and flashing lights were visible. Agents of STRIKE were roaming the ground, searching for them. "Natasha.." he let out, his forehead creased with concern as he looked down at his unconscious girlfriend. Captain scooped up her legs and supported her back to lift her up with ease, his dirtied up shield attached to his forearm. He carried her safely up to ground level, careful not to make any sound as to not catch any unwanted attention.
He took a short pathway that lead through the forest to reach their borrowed vehicle which was parked on the other side of the towering gate. Steve sat Natasha into the passenger seat and buckled her seatbelt before hopping into the drivers seat and speeding off. He used the sleeve of his coat to wipe away the black ash from around his bloodshot eyes, leaning back in his seat with both hands gripping the steering wheel firmly. Surely STRIKE had seen his footprints and were probably searching the area for them by the point, which meant they needed a place to lay low and Steve knew just the man who could help them.

Steve drove as fast as he possibly could with Natasha's GPS to help guide his way. He had just left New Jersey when Natasha began to mumble. "Ugh.." he heard, yet Steve kept his gaze fixed on the road. He swallowed the bit of saliva in his mouth and rubbed his thumbs against the wheel. "Where are we heading Steve?" Natasha questioned. He finally looked over at her to see her brush a hand through her unkempt hair.
"We're going to see a friend of mine, I think he can help us." he said, voice raspy and hoarse from the excessive smoke inhalation. "You may know of him, goes by the name Sam Wilson." he spoke questioningly. "He was in the military." He was certain that Natasha knew him. She did seem to know everything about everything, after all. Steve licked his chapped lips when he registered how thirsty he was. Too bad they ran out of water bottles. "I met him running one day. He's a good guy." Steve commented, nodding his head a bit. Captain knew nothing else about Sam Wilson, how he was specially trained in aerial combat and such. Only that he was a veteran and had his wingman killed in action, two similarities that he and Steve shared.
