Keke cuddled his sister, purring happily because he had finally figured it out. Light! His sister didn't like light. So he would protect her from the light, because he was a good brother.
---
Suluksati moved the light ball back before dismissing it, as it was clear that not even Kekeovonnai would be distracted. For now, anyway. It was very cute the way he was treating his sister. “Ooo!” she said, approaching. “Did you just use magic?” she had seen the little squirt of darkness hit her light ball before vaporizing, and she felt an absurd sense of pride in these Orakoi who weren't even her own. “Very good, Vazarri! Very good!” she tilted her head, “Can Keke use his magic too?” she asked in the third person, inviting Keke to show her.
---
Keke didn't know, and he was – unintentionally – ignoring the feathered lady for his sister...

Eating the magic? Sam could only shake his head and hum in amusement. Really, it wasn't that much of a surprise. Grrel had eaten their first taming attempt together too, so she was obviously a very hungry individual.
he turned to beam at her as he spoke of his young, though. "Their names are Kekeovonnai and Vazarri, a little Gaili boy and a Diabi girl. We found three abandoned eggs on Soudul, so we adopted them for ourselves. Oblivion, that's my mate, brought them to me after saving them. He... told me he left one with his mother, but...” He trailed off uncertainly. Perhaps this was too much to be getting into with Grrel. He wanted to be excited talking about the young he did have, not concerned about the well-being of...
He shook his head to clear his thoughts. "Well, we're almost there, now. So you can meet them for yourself!”
~~~
Vazarri sighed softly. Good. At least the woman wasn't taunting them with her powers, anymore. How could Pappy leave them alone with someone who just wanted to torment and belittle them? It wasn't fair. If she was big like Pappy, she'd take her kids with her, rather than leave them with a suspicious light-wielder.
But at least she had Keke.
Keke wouldn't leave her. And the female was easier to ignore when she wasn't flashing them with her magic. Her annoying coos went unanswered as Zarri huffed and nudged her snout beneath Keke's front claws. She rumbled her appreciation for him and his presence and flicked the tip of her tail along his flank. Hopefully Daddy would be home soon. Daddy could surely handle this situation better than Pappy could.
It was then that a shadow appeared at the entrance to the cave. With her nose tucked beneath Keke's claws, Zarri hardly noticed it. But she did hear the scrape of claws against rock. Claws too heavy and many to belong to just one feathered white woman. the Diabi girl wrenched her snout out from beneath her brother's claws and swiveled toward the sound. "Chichichi!" She squeaked in delight as she recognized Samael's frame on the lip of the cave. She gave Keke's side an excited nudge and then galloped over to greet her Pappy.
Sam cooed softly, fluttering his wings as Zarri scampered up to him. "See?” He purred at Grrel. "Here they are. Aren't they beautiful?”
An uneasy notch rose in Sam's throat at Grrel's words. He hadn't personally been that concerned with how well he'd do... Even if there were three eggs, he'd assumed everything would be fine... And if even the prickly Kiandri female that that was true, then... He swallowed and choked the negativity down. Levi still hadn't returned for questioning. There was no reason to be upset when his young ones were scurrying about his feet. Sam stooped down to collect Zarri up in his arms, and she clambered around carelessly in his grasp, scratching her claws along his arms and chest as she desperately turned to get a look at the new female. The orange one who'd called her 'lovely.'
Her tail lashed beneath Sam's hold, and a low rumble slipped from her maw as she scrutinized the woman. Unfamiliar, but mayhaps not bad. Not like the white feathered witch that stood off to the side. Zarri even thought she may have sensed a looming tension between them, though she could be wrong. She hadn't much experience with such things. Hesitantly, she settled her claws on Samael's arms, righting herself across them so she could lean precariously over to give the orange female a sniff.
Sam held himself stiffly, giving Zarri a small grin as his daughter huffed in what he'd come to recognize as 'acceptance,' or as close to it as she could come. He slowly extended an offering arm to Grrel for her to take the smaller orakoi before he moved apologetically over to Sulu. "Sorry I was gone longer than expected,” he hummed quietly. "Some things came up, and I... was hoping you could spare a little more of your time to spend with us while we sort some things out.”
