The suns warm rays cascaded down through the mighty tree branches..warming the slowly awakening stallion's pale white form. Birds chirped in the trees, creatures big or small moved through the forest, making it come to life. Lifting his head the male gave a small shake of his mane..smirking when two unhappy chirps filled the air. Within the inky black tresses slept two colorful birds "Time to get up and eat, play nice together. Don't get hurt." Tone serious but, soft Mikasi rose to his feet..shaking his mane again till the two birds came out. Watching them until they had landed a few feet off in trees to 'hunt' the male began his usual daily things. He checked the pelts he'd been working on..checked their supplies and looked to make sure there would be food waiting for his beloved mate when she awakened. Astraea's slumbering form made his heart skip a beat the mare that had stolen his heart so completely..made him feel like home was where ever they were together. However the stallion caught sight of their new bundles. The ones they had found while exploring, the ones that were a gift from the heavens. When a large leaf of berries had been pushed near his mate he began realizing their 'home' was not much protection...with two little foals soon to be part of the world..he felt an overwhelming urge to build a nest. A nest up in the trees where they could all be safe. Like the ones the flock had built but, when they built them it was more of a community effort and stallions didn't typically help unless it involved heavier lifting. Glancing around the clearing and tapping his claws against the earth Mikasi turned to start looking over the trees, bumping against them to check for strength. To find the sturdiest one. How hard could it be to build a nest and a simple ramp up to it? A ramp his mate without claws could use..would she like it? Frowning, brows furrowing he moved to begin gathering large branches, the largest he could carry without help. Perhaps his father would come assist. Honovi seemed to know a bit more about home building than Mikasi.

Opening her eyes slowly at the sounds of chirping birds above her, she looked around for a moment before her eyes fell on her mate. A small smile appeared on her muzzle as she rose, stretching as much as she could to get all those annoying kinks out of her body. She walked over to his side wondering what he was up to today and thought about everything that had happened to them in such short time. She glanced over at the baskets that were quietly nestled in a little makeshift nest the two of them made and even though it wasn’t great it was still something. Something they made together for their children. Blood related or not they were still theirs no matter how anyone looked at it. They were going to raise them until they grew up. She was always hoping for more children though. Her father always wanted a big family and now that he had eleven kids, adopted and his own, he still wanted more. She felt she was that way as well. Wanting to adopt as many as she could and then give birth to as many as she could. She wanted to be a mother to all. A mother that wouldn’t abandon a child in need and would be there for them no matter what breed they were or how different they were to her.
“What are you up to?” She asked curiously seeing that he was determined about something today. She nuzzled his neck gently and nipped his mane making sure he didn’t have anything stuck in it that would give him further problems. He was probably the best thing that happened in her life. Something that she wouldn’t want to trade for anything else in the world and he was the one thing that made her the happiest. He was the one thing that made her want to be a better made for herself, him and the children. “Have you thought of names for our two new members of the family?” She asked as she rested her head against his neck feeling a sense of pride take over as she looked at the two baskets. She wondered what was inside and wondered how they were going to act. She was ready to be a mother and felt more mature then she had felt in a very long time. “I have a couple names in mind, but I really like the name Chosovi for a girl. You know to give a kind of homage to your father.” She said to him with a small smile. She couldn’t believe they were a family now. One that was going to grow so much in the years to come and she couldn’t wait.
