Hey Everyone just curious if their were any musicians who play Contemporary Christian like myself? Or any worship leaders?

For about a year or so, I played bass in my church's contemporary worship band. I lost the opportunity when the worship leader quit and got replaced.

Now that I've moved and now attend a new church regularly, I'm trying to get into the worship band there. But the problem is, there's a bassist already there who refuses to give up his spot. I'm told that I'm first in line if he's not available, but in the past three months, that hasn't happened yet.

Thats a really odd way of running a worship team? I'v had to run three worship teams for a number of years and it's always good to run a different member for each position each week eventually everyone learns the songs and you always have a replacement who doesnt need to learn anything new for the band. But I'v seen it and been in your spot I once wanted to the drummer for a certain worship at a church and I had to wait and wait because they depended on this one guy every week but when he decided to move away then they seeked me and other talent, I felt like they tonly wanted me when they needed me :/

Here, here. I sing melody and harmony and improvise on my violin in the praise team. I am also wondering about trying piano/keyboard.

My wish is that there will be more instrumentlists, such as flutists or saxohpone players to join the praise team in the future.

I'm a musician, but not a worship leader.

I play mostly church hymns on my acoustic guitar, but not in a band or anything

That reminds me -- did you know "Silent Night" was originally written for guitar? And yet so many people think it's supposed to be played with an organ or some other "churchy" instrument.

I'm not a worship leader, but I do sing with a worship band sometimes. I'm their deepest alto, so I sing a lot of backup. And if the song calls for it (thanks, Rend Collective!), I play the mandolin. 3nodding

On an unrelated note, if you like playing the mandolin, I know that the band Kaizers Orchestra uses the mandolin (and a few other uncommon instruments) in their songs. Check out their song "Rullett": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy5yC8Ou3KM
