So I whent to my first therapy session today with a gender therapist. I was prepared for a long drawn out process. So were my parents. (BTW I'm 28, live on virtually on my own with a roommate but I am very close to my parents and live near them.)
So I was actually amazed that after talking to the therapist she wants me back next week to start talking about my next steps. The legal name change, hormones, and finding a doctor.
I have lived as my chosen name online for many years and in public for going on 4 years. I have also stopped wearing cloths spacifically set for a female since I was 7 and my mom let me pick out my own cloths at the store. Before that I always stole my older brother's cloths lol.
So the therapist felt I had done my research, knew where I was going and that i was ready for the next step.
It took me this long to get to a therapist because for the longest time the nearest gender therapist was about 80 miles away and I don't drive... Legally any way lol.
So it wasn't until last month that I was pokeing aroudn nad found there was a gender therapist that also had an office in the next town over. The same town that I will hopefully be moveing to this spring and go to for shopping and hanging with friends a few times a month any way.

So all of my family (the ones that I care to talk to any way, and the ones that live the closest to me) are already aware of all this. Friends have been working on the proper pronouns and name for the last 4 years already.
Aside from binding my chest I have not yet done anything else physically for transitioning. I pass pretty well as male as well as passing for a lot younger than I actually am. I tend to pass as 14-17 most the time.

So pretty much going to post when I can on how my journey is going and keeping people updated. I already know it's not going to be an overnight thing and I'm ready for that.
Anyone who wishes to add me as a friend, awsome. I'm chatty and friendly and love to talk to people. So feel free to ask questions or just chat.

mrgreen I always dress in non-girly stuff too, although because my folks wouldn't approve, the closest I can get to wearing guy's clothes is unisex stuff. Whatever works right? wink Anyways, it sounds like things will go awesomely for you! Good luck! razz

Yeah do what you gotta do. Another friend of mine who just came out as trans just recently baught his first men's shirt. So I know some are unable to dress as they wish until they are ready to start transitioning.

Awesome, your friend is lucky. Though I don't ever plan on changing my gender, I still prefer men's clothing. It's just more comfortable, you know? Looks better too.

Some women look good in men's cloths too. I dig the androgonys look. Some men look better in drag too lol.

Yup! I remember for Halloween there was this kid at my school who wore basically his normal clothing, except with a mini-skirt on and everyone kept saying he "matched". The clothing he wore totally fit how his personality is, plus he looked pretty good in it, not gonna lie. smile

Takes real balls to wear a skirt in school lol. Thats awsome.
I went as Batman for Halloween when I was 9, and mom kept saying "No your Batgir."
I argued with her that I was Batman. First time ever argueing with my mom over such a thing lol.

I'm kinda jealous. Good luck with it! I'd love to hear how it goes; most of the stuff I've been able to find online is a little outdated. (Like ten years or so.)

Same here, thats why I was expecting to have to go to therapy for a year before we talked about doctors. But I guess things changed and the therapist can use their own disgression and move things along after 3 sessions. I'm on my 2nd session this friday.

I got the green light to start testosterone. I need to set up an appointment with a doctor for my physical and get that ball rolling. Also once I can afford it I can do the legal name change thing. I'm super excited.
I have to go tell my parents now and talk with them. Get them ready for all this too. Afterall they are loseing their daughter in a way (even though I never acted like a daughter and more of a son) but I know it has to be hard on them. they just arn't saying anything about, only that they are happy for me. dad cracked his first set of tranny jokes the other night so I know he's come to terms with it. Thats how dad handles stuff, if he's cool with it, he jokes about.
Mom is the type to talk it out, straight to the point , then change of subject. Over done with gone kinda thing.
I know they are willing to help me out and even help me pay for some of this stuff so I'm thankfull for that.

That's awesome! Super-exciting.

Technically I'm already on hormones-- just the wrong kind :/ because once a month (or more) my body decides "nope, you're not moving for a week." So.

Good luck, and keep us posted please smile

Wow I'll update this now. Now I'm 30 and finally got a doctor who knows her stuff and is going to help me start my transition. I hope my cholesterol is down enough when I go for my next blood test in another month so I can start T.
Still single and pretty much decided that I'm more comfortable dating females. For various reasons, but yeah pretty much sticking with females. I enjoy being single and having my freedom, but don't mind chatting and all that.
I got a new job a few months back at Wal-Mart and they allow me to use my preferred name on my name tag and most the people I work with that know whats up use proper male pronouns and all that.
Theres probably a ton more between post 1 and now but I can't think at the moment lol.
