Is there an easier way to knit a sweater?

I know there's steeking, but that only works with wool and wool makes me break out. Knitting it in the round confused me, too. I don't want to make a boatneck raglan sweater forever sad

The method I came up with sounds easy, but I dunno if it would work. sweatdrop It sounded like it would when I thought about it. Basically, I thought about knitting a huge square and then picking up stitches for my shoulders. After that, pick up stitches at the shoulders to make the back of the sweater.

Once that was finished, I'd seam the sides just enough so I have armholes and pick up stitches around the armhole and knit in the round for my sleeves.

Hmm, I've never heard of steeking only working for wool. Maybe it depends on which method you use? As for your idea that will work, just keep in mind it will be shapeless. Try looking at kimono style patterns, they're basically rectangles that are knitted separately and then sewn together. Any shaping present will be minimal, and the kimono style will flatter a wide variety of figures. Anything aside from that...well I'm not sure what to recommend, as it would depend on your particular figure and what kind of fit you want.

If I remember correctly steeking works well with wool, but it's not limited to just that fiber. Uh, that's if I remember correctly heh.
