(A 1000 sorrys if I placed this in the wrong forum)
So here is how it goes. Today i volunteered to work for a few hours at a local festival with a friend. The job was to help set up for the festival. We did that and the owner said thanks here is your pay. Took said pay wondered around for a few hours.
But here's the kicker.
Friend's mom is working the stall. Friend feels like she needs to help said mom, an half hour passes. Finally I have enough and walk away. I didn't leave the festival. I should have at that point.
But my stuff was in her truck and I figured she wouldn't be that long.
A another half an hour passes. I get called back to the stall, friend wants me to help the stall. I would like to go home. She says Well I can't leave. Even though her mother said it was okay for her to drive me home. Why? Not because the stall was busy. because she needed the money.
I say okay fine I will call someone else give me your keys so I can get my stuff. Get keys, get stuff. On my way back she wants me to help. I say no. She gets mad, I leave and oddly enough her dad picks me up.
Should I have stayed?
Do i regret my choice?
Do I seem like an a*****e to everyone involved?
That's my story for today.

So they're acting pissy because you weren't interested in getting in on the family business (so to speak)? Are they perhaps unaware that simple friendship does not equate to blood relations?
