Miles couldn't help but feel a pang in his chest whenever he looked around at everyone at the wedding and realized that there were two people missing that should have been there. It wasn't a sharp one, but more dull, like a wound that had scarred over but still ached. He guessed he couldn't exactly fault anyone for that feeling. His parents should have been here, his dad should have given him all of the bad advice that Jason had tried (unsuccessfully) to give him (he had been the first one to point out to the older werewolf he had never married before), his mother should have been welcoming Newlyn into the family with a critical eye but a warm smile. He hadn't realized how much he had actually missed his parents, but he figured they were somewhere in Heaven, just watching the events of the day with nothing but happiness for their only son.
He leaned back and observed the whole scene with a wistfully goofy smile on his face. He was glad that nothing catastrophic had happened during the event, though he wasn't discounting Jason's sour mood or Morven's tendency for sharp words and an even sharper tongue. So far, however, they both seemed to be behaving, which was a testament to their patience, he figured. He just hoped that no one drew the connection between werewolves and the people assembled. He looked over at Newlyn as she made the comment about neither of the more volatile members of their odd family doing anything untoward and grinned wryly. "Nah, lass. I have a feeling that will probably be after the reception when they discover that we set up doggie bags for giftbags and put a squeaky toy in the ones for the pack." He knew it was a bad joke, and no one outside of their strange family would even realize the joke, but still. He kissed Newlyn on the cheek and squeezed her hand as he looked over toward her. "Now all we have to do is survive the reception and we're good to go."

Light reflects from your shadow- It is more than I thought could exist! You move through the room, Like breathing was easy; If someone believed me- They would be as in love with you as I am.

Elsie, as a rule, enjoyed weddings, and seeing as she'd only been to three or so weddings before this one, of course her sister's was her favorite. She loved Newlyn and she loved Miles, and she was happy they were happy and together like this. Besides, her own wedding had been a quick elopement, not that she minded, so she was pleased that at least one person in their family was making more of an event out of it. Somehow she couldn't see Morven and Benjamin tying the knot anytime soon, and for that she was relieved- she still saw them as immature teenagers, not adults.
Did she like the cold? No, but she could tolerate it for the sake of her sister. If Newlyn wanted to have a wedding in November, on the beach, well, more power to her. She'd gotten married on a rainy April morning. At least the reception had begun and she could shamelessly cuddle up to her husband (she still got a thrill out of saying that, even in her head, despite them having been married since April).
Dave didn't seem to mind her nestling up against him, and she was almost surprised by his good mood, having expected him to look as if he'd rather be anywhere else throughout the entire event. "You're not half as pouty as usual," she teased him, resting her head on his shoulder.
She felt him shrug. "I just realized something."
Elsie glanced up in amusement. "What?"
He looked thrilled. "Now that they're finally married Morven will have to shut the ******** up about it."
She snorted, and moved his arm around her shoulders.
And everyday I'm learning about you... The things that no one else sees! And the end comes too soon- Like dreaming of angels; And leaving without them... Being as in love with you as I am.

Morven had only ever been invited to one other wedding- Dori's- so it wasn't as if there were some high standard to hold this one to, she thought sarcastically. At least she didn't have to suffer through the ceremony for any longer; she despised this dress, and Newlyn had told her a million times she was free to burn, rip to shreds, or do whatever she wanted to it... after the wedding. Had this not been her sister's wedding she thought she would have skipped out with Seymour and not bothered with the reception at all, but if Jason was still here, she was determined not to leave. She could out stubborn the old b*****d any day, she thought in annoyance. She was supposed to be the bitchy guest, not him. But to her ire, she was less angry about the whole thing now that it was over than she had thought she would be. To be honest it was hard to stay furious with Miles for very long, not with that stupid face he always made, and Newlyn's complete lack of caring over it hadn't made staying angry at her any easier, either. Like it or not, her eldest sister was going to do what she wanted, and Morven begrudgingly accepted it. She still reserved the right to freak out whenever they announced they were having a litter or puppies, though. She had her standards. "As soon as they cut the cake, we're gone," she vowed to her boyfriend, not even checking to see if he was listening or not. She was a little surprised he'd wanted to even come, but then again, if he'd attended Dori and Jess's wedding, who he barely knew... She glared down at her dress for the umpteenth time, then sighed. She'd never actually say it aloud, but thank the gods Elsie and Rat Face had eloped.
There I go jumping before the gunshot has gone off; Slap me with a splintered ruler! And it would knock me to the floor if I wasn't there already. If only I could hunt the hunter... And all I really want is some patience; A way to calm the angry voice.

And I'm grindin' 'til I'm tired, Cause they said you ain't grindin' 'til you tired, So I'm grindin' with my eyes wide, looking to find A way through the day, a light for the night
Dear Lord: you done took so many of my people, I'm just wondering why you haven't taken my life? Like what the hell am I doing right?
Crash Ghoul Task Force
[Fall, 2033]
It had been chilly throughout the reception, despite all of the charms. He tried not to shiver from where he stood at Miles' side, along Uriel, the Best Man, and Dorian, the other groomsmen. Unfortunately, that meant he couldn't be with Alexandria seated with the rest of the guests, but the longer he stood there, watching Newlyn and Miles present their vows, exchange rings, and kiss, he couldn't help but envision himself there with Alex, making that promise and saying those words. But it was scarier, than anything. And Crash was left in a daze as he thought about what the rest of the future held for him. Crash had been one of the first to say congratulations to the groom and bride as he clapped Miles on the shoulder. Then nodding politely, he moved on to let the newly married couple enjoy each others company for as long as they could, at least, until the next wave of congratulations crowded around them.
Navigating through the small crowd of people, he searched for the familiar dress of his girlfriend's. He trudged lightly through the sand, enjoying the salty sea breeze until he finally found the dark head of hair through the crowd. Sneaking up behind Alex, he curled his hands around her waist and leaned down over her shoulder for a trail of soft kisses up along her neck and to her cheek. ”Hey gorgeous, you missed me?”

Staring blindly through a blizzard, Chasing after your restless heart. Mind is buzzing like a helicopter... Cutting quickly through the dark! Smoke is pouring from my windows, And I'm reaching out my hand... Hoping someone's at my fingertips; That can help me understand!

Uriel had almost been surprised when Miles had asked him to be his best man, despite the fact that they'd been close friends for a long time. He just... didn't think he was much of a best man type. He'd never been very outgoing, despite being sorted into the friendliest house, and honestly, planning a bachelor party made about as much sense to him as calculus. That was to say, not really any sense at all. But the ceremony had come and gone and he hadn't lost the rings, so he was counting that as a success. He'd much rather have been able to sit with Lyv during it, though. They'd moved in together over the summer, and living with someone else as an adult was not as much of an issue as Uriel'd been worried it might be. He and Lyv were very similar; they kept a very similar domestic life. There'd been no major fights over who did what or whose things were where- living with his girlfriend, he'd cautiously admitted sometime around September, might have been the most comfortable living situation he'd ever been in. He did feel a bit bad that they were at yet another wedding. Half of weddings were basically his fault, but at least his siblings were done getting married for now, right? But the more weddings they went to, naturally, the more Uriel thought about marriage, and the more he thought about marriage, the more nervous he managed to become. He and Lyv would be dating for two years come next month, and they'd known each other since they were eleven, so it wasn't so much that they were moving too fast that he was worried about... But was getting married even something she'd be interested in? He wasn't completely sure of her views on any of it; marriage, kids, the whole idea of starting some sort of family... Uriel had known that was something he'd wanted seemingly forever, but he was quick to remind himself that he and Lyv hadn't exactly grown up in the same situations. Yes, they were both orphans, but he'd been adopted at birth by two loving, good people. Lyv had grown up with a shitty dad and, as far as he'd ever known, no mum. Her older sister had basically raised her, which, even if he had no love for Michelle, he'd give her kudos for, because Lyv was a kind, strong person and she was probably at least partially responsible for it. It'd be great, he thought sarcastically, if he had the balls to actually ask her about it, but instead he said, "It's probably terrible but I hope no one we know gets married for at least another decade. Eloping I could probably handle."
The stars are bound to change. Hold on, hold on, wait for another day. Hold on, hold on, the future's not that far away. Yelling for the sun as the water rises- Feeling like smoke, filling up your eyes! Swinging at a ghost, go and lock that door, Leave that wreckage, let it wash ashore. Go save yourself up, it's a hell of a ride...

Olyvia was enjoying what felt like their 100th wedding date. She would never admit how relieved she was that Grace and Dom had decided to suddenly elope. She wasn't sure how many more weddings she could endure before she snapped. She loved Uriel, and she loved living with him, but seriously she was beginning to wonder if he actually wanted to spend forever with her. Okay sure they'd only been dating 2 years, but they'd known each other since they were 11, and all their friends were already married, and she had dreamt of the perfect wedding ever since she could remember. She wanted to marry Uriel and have cute little blonde Uriel babies, and wow she was hopelessly in love wasn't she....?
She snorted at Uriel's comment and nodded her head. "When Gracie and Dom suddenly skipped their own wedding I was so happy honestly. Everyone can just elope from now on." She paused wondering if that sounded terrible. Did that make it sound like she didn't want to get married? That would only scare him away if he did want to marry her. Crap crap how did she back track out of that. She stared at him with deer eyes for a few moments. "Um... you know besides um.... me.. I mean.. us... I mean... sorry....." She was definitely blushing like an idiot now. God how did she always make a foll of herself. She quietly took a sip from her drink, wishing she could just erase everything she'd said. She was apparently still a ball of awkward. She blinked for a few long moments, and nervously brushed her hair behind her ear. "So did you ever think Newlyn and Miles would actually get married?" She asked, casually trying to change the subject.

Watching Newlyn and Miles exchange their wedding vows on the beach in November annoyed Alexandria. Maybe it was because she was cold, maybe it was because she had attended a shitload of weddings in the past couple of years and was completely over them, or maybe it was because Crash was up there with them instead of sitting next to her. The only wedding the twenty one year old wasn’t over was her own – and who knew when that would happen. Whenever the topic came up, Crash and Alex would end up in an argument about something else – anything else just to not have to talk about potentially getting married. The thought of committing herself to him for the rest of her life through marriage scared her. She could do that no problem while dating, but taking his last name and being his wife was a whole other level, and she wasn’t quite sure if she was ready for that step in their relationship. However, weddings didn’t turn her off as much as they used to – especially after seeing how non traditional they could be.
As soon as the reception ended, Alexandria trudged through the sand (as quickly as she could in her heels) towards the food and placed various appetizers on her plate. Besides, Newlyn and Miles were about to be crowded with people who wanted to congratulate them, so Alex figured she’d say it later on in the night. Just before she was about to shove some food in her mouth, Crash slipped his arms around her from behind and trailed a few kisses from her neck to her cheek, causing a smile to stretch across her lips. ”Of course,” she answered before turning to give him a quick kiss. “Want some sushi?” she asked, offering a piece from her plate.

A clouded dream on an earthly night- Hangs upon the crescent moon. A voiceless song in an ageless light- Sings at the coming dawn. Birds in flight are calling there... Where the heart moves the stones. It's there that my heart is calling; All for the love of you.

Newlyn glanced over at Miles to get a better luck at him, and then her stomach flutter slightly in happiness at the look on his face. Not that she'd hadn't seen that ridiculous grin before, but it seemed especially prominent today, and one thing that hadn't changed was the effect his smile had on her. Miles had always seemed singularly talented at cheering her up just by being Miles, and she was sure her smug appearance was only worsened by the beaming smile forcing its way onto her own face as well. Similarly, his joke made her giggle- giggle!- which wasn't exactly uncommon for them either, but it still seemed especially humorous today. "You didn't forget the frisbee, did you?" the brunette asked devilishly, and pecked him back on the lips, squeezing his hand in return. "Shouldn't be too difficult- I'm half convinced Morven's going to slip out while we're not looking. Jason too." She briefly scanned the guests, both seated and standing, and made an odd sort of tutting noise when her gaze fell upon Uriel and Lyv. "When is he going to ask her?" Newlyn was aware she was being a bit hypocritical, seeing as her and Miles had been in no great rush to get married, but she couldn't help it now that she'd joined the terrifying legions of the no-longer-just-dating.
A painting hangs on an ivy wall- Nestled in the emerald moss. The eyes declare a truce of trust; And then it draws me far away. Where deep in the desert twilight... Sand melts in pools of the sky- When darkness lays her crimson cloak... Your lamps will call me home.

Morven smirked when he asked if she didn't want to at least try the cake. She was half convinced Newlyn had made it herself- she had always been frugal and had always been a good cook, so it was at the very least plausible. "We can take it to go." Of course the moment she mentioned leaving he started in on his place; it was sort of cute, not that she'd ever admit it, whenever he referenced his flat so proudly. As if he hadn't blackmailed his cousin into helping him buy that and the shop. Then again, Morven could respect her boyfriend's pragmatism, even if it was extremely immature and petty. She wasn't exactly a pinnacle of maturity herself. Hence seriously considering skipping out on her sister's reception to shag her boyfriend and drink her worries away. It wasn't like she had work tomorrow. "Sometimes I think you enjoy shagging on an awful excuse for a bed," she said bluntly.
His immediate attempt to smooth over his reference to marriage didn't pass her by either, but she was more caught off guard than annoyed. He'd been mentioning it more often lately- all in joking, of course, but still. Morven was a bit concerned. Her main concern being that he was going to be an idiot and try to propose a year or so from now, and she was going to turn him down, and it was going to be an enormous waste of effort on both their parts. He'd feel humiliated and resentful, and she'd feel- she didn't know what she'd feel, but it probably wouldn't be good. "Timothy will get up the nerve to ask Mira to marry him the day the earth stands still," she said dryly, because mocking his best friend was easier than confronting the actual issue. "And why the hell would you want to get married when we could just live together in sin?" It came out more serious than she had meant it, and she flushed slightly.

Uriel had just snorted and not read into his girlfriend's comment anymore than what it was, but he knew she thought he had when she paused, eyes going wide. Wait, did this mean she wanted to get married soon, or did she just not want him to think she didn't want to get married? Now he was even more confused. But he was tending to think it was former and not the latter. If she hadn't wanted to get married she wouldn't have bothered to correct herself, right? Even if she wanted to just elope. Honestly, he didn't think he'd even have an issue with eloping, so long as it was Lyv he was marrying. There was no need to inflict his family on her if she didn't want to bother with an elaborate ceremony and reception. It wasn't as if he were particularly religious; he'd be fine with going down to the Ministry tomorrow and signing papers. Although, as sick to his stomach the thought made him, he did really want to propose, too. He wanted to hear her say yes. Maybe it was a pride thing. "We could get married whenever we wanted," he shrugged in a horrifically falsely casual way, and took a sip of his own drink, which he almost wished was doing more for him, because at least he wasn't worrying when he was buzzed. "I mean. It definitely wouldn't take us as long as Miles and Newlyn." Oh, God.
