I finally got to play my first game in over a year! Yay!

1. Ultamarines

2. Space Marines

3. 2000

4. Eldar (different person this time)

5. Relic

6. Vanguard Strike, the worst one. Again.

7. Eldar won 3 points to 2 I got first blood by destroying a Wave Serpent and then got the line breaker when my Legion of the Damned deep struck right behind most of his infantry. However he took the Relic at the last minute for the three points and the game ended on turn five.

8. His friends kept heckling him about being a douche bag and using his Wraith Knight against a new person, but his Wraith Knight did ******** all to me until the last turn when he FINALLY managed to whittle down my Land Raider and cause my three Centurion Devastators to come spilling out. Which would have been...Devastating? For him...
bad joke had the game not ended that turn because I made their pinning test. I managed to pretty much wipe the board of all his infantry units, I looked over at his casualties and realized the gravity of how many I had actually killed. But he pretty much killed everything I had as well, my Legion of the Damned had quite a shining moment though, I got them just painted enough that I could put them together and play and they did not disappoint. They Deep Struck and chewed through his back line with the Heavy Flamer and the regular Flamer, and might have killed his warlord had he not turned the Avatar of Khaine on them.

The Sergeant ended up being the last man standing because he pulled some bullshit with his Psyker and was able to reroll his perils of the warp and he made it so my Legion had to reroll all their successful saves. Which ended up being the only reason they all died or else they probably would have shot then assaulted into his Warlord on my turn because they all have Slow and Purposeful. I pretty much ignored his Wraith Knight because it's toughness was just too ******** high and with Six wounds...Meh...I killed all but one of his Wave Serpent though so that was neat. I only took the Land Raider and the Predator this time and it worked out pretty good since that was a majority of the reason I took out his tanks. I had a pretty bad deployment zone with not a whole lot of cover which ended up being the reason he managed to kill one of my Devastator Squads in an assault, but I nearly killed both of his Scorpions when they assaulted and then I killed the other squad with my Tact Squad with the flamer and the frag missile launcher then just a salvo of bolter fire, the Liberian didn't even have to use his Vortex of Doom.

However, I would never play this person again, he was kind of a d**k and was very impatient and snippy with a person whom he knew wasn't really savvy with the game because it has been a year since I played and one game isn't going to make me an expert. He also would not ******** SPEAK UP so I hardly ever knew what the hell he was doing so I had to hope he wasn't a douche bag that would cheat.

9. I was kind of sad I didn't just blitz my Land Raider right into his armor and unload my Centurions, but I was afraid of his Wraith Knight blasting it into oblivion. My Centurions would have ******** all his armor UP because they all had Grav Cannons and Grav Amps and then missile launchers. I really need to get some more Assault Units, I should probably pick up another five assault marines and make a ten man jump squad to put in a Rhino and Blitz across the board and ******** up any Eldar on foot. And for some reason everyone keeps telling me I need to pick up Marneus Calgar so that I would have my chapter master in my army.

How many turns were the Centurions boxed up in that Land Raider? That's a crazy-expensive unit to sit in a transport all game...

I was never able to unload them, they got forced out on the last turn when the Land Raider wrecked. I never got the tank close enough to his armor and the turn before he wrecked it it got crew shaken so they wouldn't have been able to do anything if I had managed to get them out the previous turn.

It was the person I played the first time, not the one I played the second time. The guy I played against my first game back was really chill and fairly new to the game but I've been playing against Eldar players since I got back into it and it is beginning to make me resent that army...

I keep hearing that the Eldar are the new OP army of the season... Nids certainly don't look like they're going to break that trend either. There are ways to break every list though, maybe next time you play Eldar you can take down their list? I can take a look at it, I've played Eldar for a while and maybe I can give some pointers on how to counter it.

It's the Wave Serpents and the Walkers that keep killing me, they have the ability to destroy a Land Raider with that armor lowering lance thing he takes a lot of shots during his turn and if I don't blow up his Wave Serpents and the Fire Prism I usually get ********. I'm also pretty bad at setting up my army and then prioritizing and focusing fire on one unit at a time. On the plus side though, this last Sunday I lost once against Necron, and for that very reason in fact, I should have focused everything on one particular unit...BUT I won my first game in a loooooooong time against the Dark Eldar.

Nice! I know Dark Eldar are glass cannons, but regular Eldar can be a lot more durable...

War Walkers are great, and I use them a lot, but they're a bit more vulnerable to massed mid-strength fire such as plasma or autocannons. They can shrug off heavier shots with that cover save, but if they have to save multiple glanced or penned hits at once, they're more likely to go down, and you can save your heavy stuff for the grav-tanks.

The thing about grav-tanks, particularly Falcons and Wave Serpents, is that because of their relatively short-ranged weaponry, high speed, and need to drop off troops, they are generally in-your-face very quickly. This means you can drop some of the expensive, long-range weapons like Lascannons and swap them out for meltaguns. Also, skimmer have no bonus in assaults, which means if you can pack some Assault Marines (which aren't all that expensive), they can be pretty easily taken down by assaults, which automatically impact their vulnerable AV10 rear armor.

Eldar are amazing at taking down heavy armor. Fusion guns, bright lances, and even massed Shuriken cannons and scatter lasers can make short work of expensive tanks. Try dropping some of that heavy armor in favor of more troops, Rhinos to protect them and get to objectives under a minimum of attrition-withering firec, and assault marines with melta bombs to try and counter those tanks.

Might as well post these here then.

1. Enginseer Claire's Cohort
2. Horus Heresy book 4 - Conquest
3. 200 pts (Kill Team - Enginseer with Volkite Charger and Refractor field, 3x Thallax with phased plasma fusil and heavy chainblades)
4. Farsight Enclave
5. Secure the High Ground
6. Standard
7. Me!
8. From turn two onwards the game devolved into a bitter melee between three Thallax and three Crisis Suits, while the remaining Tau suit blew away the Enginseer before also getting stuck in the melee. The melee raged for three turns until a single Thallax, reduced to its last wound, remained standing on the hill.
9. We were more or less evenly matched modelwise, with four models per side, though my opponent certainly had an edge in firepower and armour save, while I had one in terms of a high toughness and strength in assaults. It was quite a nail biter to play through, right up to the last throw of the dice.

1. Van Diemen's World Devils
2. Astra Militarum
3. 400 pts (Combat Patrol - Veterans with Forward Sentries and Harker, 3x Ogryn, 2x Scout Sentinel with missile launcher and a Wyvern)
4. Tau Empire
5. Recover the Officer
6. Standard
7. Me!
8. Ten Kroot outflanking and coming up right besides my Wyvern, rapid firing at it, but only managing to remove one HP from it. The next turn the Kroot sadly ceased to exist and rapidly devolved into a fine pink mist.
9. Again, we were evenly matched, though the Tau player took a great risk by keeping his harder hitting units, a large unit of Stealth Suits and ten Kroot, in reserve, while his Piranha and four Pathfinders had to weather my shooting for a whole turn. In the end, due to dodgy rolls on his part and me being lucky I survived with most of my units intact, aside from three dead veterans and both Sentinels lost.
