Blizzardpaw peered through the long stalks of ferns he was currently nestled in, wide gold eyes following the light, tabby gray pelt loitering about the apprentice’s den. Ivorymoon! ‘H-He’s waiting for me…!’ the thought prompted the apprentice to flatten himself as much as his body would allow, sure to keep his scent downwind from Ivorymoon’s raised head. He held his breath, body tensed when the warrior padded past his cover. His tail brushed absentmindedly against the tips of the ferns, pale blues staring ahead and dead of any actual focus. If his muscles weren’t locked in place, Blizzardpaw would have shivered from having glimpsed just half of his mentor’s unnerving gaze.

Once he was sure Ivorymoon was at least a few pawsteps away, Blizzardpaw breathed out a sigh. It was not unusual for the black and white apprentice to hide when it came time for training, but it was different now! Ever since the announcement of strangers in the clan, his mentor had not been the same… He viewed him in a new, critical light unlike the indifference that usually glazed the warrior’s eyes entirely. The fur along his back prickled at the notion of what Ivorymoon could be thinking of him—of what the whole Clan thought for that matter!
He’d always been self-conscious of his bloodlines, and StarClan’s warning only intensified that sense of uncertainty. The feeling made him that much more aware of his differences; from the awkward white stump he dare call a tail to the mis-matched coloration of his pelt. He did not realize that being able to look like his idol and father came with its consequences … consequences he simply could not glare in the face without cringing. He wasn’t Lightningpaw!

It pained him to continue thinking this way, lest he make himself feel more like an outcast. But there was no way around this bush! StarClan’s warning seemed to be the whole talk of the clan nowadays—well, and the floating rumors about Moonblaze. He didn’t know enough about her to form a clear understanding on the case, but either way it couldn’t be good! ‘If only Whisperblade were here! He’d know what to do!’ Blizzardpaw buried his head in his paws, a small whimper forming in his throat.

The apprentice was too deep in thought to hear Darkstorm’s rumbling meow or anything else, really.
_____

Ivorymoon’s ears pricked at the sound of Darkstorm’s voice. He came to a halt, mere kitsteps from the imposing wall of rock that enclosed the clan. Had he really just walked to the edge of camp in search for Blizzardpaw? The pale-eyed warrior simply shook away the petty thoughts that clung to his senses and focused on the scene that had roused him back to action. Hearing as they shared the same problem, Ivorymoon padded over to the small group, dipping his head upon approaching Silverstar and a brief nod of acknowledgment in Dustpaw’s direction.

“Yes, it seems at least one of them is hiding from me as well.” He added to Darkstorm’s query, not that he felt bothered by the fact. Training Blizzardpaw had come as an afterthought, after all. He’d thought some battle-training would relieve him of the stress that had come from the rumors about his dear medicine cat, Moonblaze. Her home was here … more so than the apprentice he was currently trying to find.

                                      LOCATION: Middle of clearing...?
COMPANY: Ivorymoon, Blizzardpaw, Dustpaw, Darkstorm, Silverstar
                                      OOC:

The dark grey warrior trotted back to Stormclan camp with the rest of the patrol, his tail sticking vertically into the air, betraying the underlying aggression that practically leaked from his pelt as he entered the camp. His ember-coloured eyes were hard and unforgiving, and he was fuming with anger after the missed encounter with Nightclan’s border patrol. He left Thunderflight to make the report to Silverstar, seeing as it would be a deputy’s duty to report to the leader about everything. He doubted the two she-cats would listen to his suggestion about confronting Foxstar anyway. The two of them were too peaceful, too optimistic, and were not willing to be the first to take action so that they would have the upper paw if it was to come to conflict.

He was about to head to the forest to do a bit of hunting, when he spotted his brother padding towards Silverstar, Dustpaw and...Darkstorm, or Thor as he was previously called, back when he was still a rogue. He pointedly ignored the much larger tom, giving only a curt nod to Dustpaw and Silverstar. He then realised with brimming satisfaction that Ivorymoon had done exactly the same. Good, it seemed that his meek brother was finally starting to think for himself and stand on his own four paws, and finally starting to show a mind of his own. ”So apparently everyone in this clan thinks that we should sit here and wait for Nightclan to make a move, even though Foxstar’s been so overly bold with his patrols lately. Mousedung, I say!” He spat angrily as he walked up to his half-brother, his dark grey coat contrasting with Ivorymoon’s silver tabby one. ”In the meantime, I’m going to look for my apprentice. It’s high time I teach Glimmerpaw (is that his apprentice? lol) some fighting techniques. Ivorymoon, where’s Blizzardpaw? You should bring him along so the two of them can spar.” He raised his head to look around for Blizzardpaw, but didn’t see him anywhere nearby. He couldn’t seem to spot Glimmerpaw anywhere either. Trust apprentices to choose the most crucial moments to hide from them.

Silverstar blinked at the apprentice, her green eyes glimmering with understanding. "I know what it's like to feel helpless during troubled times. As an apprentice, I always wanted to go out against my mentor's orders and help. Right now, there isn't much we can do. We just know that StarClan has warned us."
She glanced beyond him, into the cloudy sky.
"I think they're warning us about future strangers. I've always consulted with them about letting a strange cat into the Clan, and they have approved everyone who has the hearts of warriors. That's what's important. It is now that we have received warnings, so I can only expect that now is when we should be wary of strangers to the Clans."
She flicked her tail, adding, "You can keep an eye out for me if you see anything strange out on the territory, okay? And listen to your mentor. Do your best. That's the best you can do, and I'll be happy if you do it."
She licked behind the apprentice's ear, standing up. "It seems that my deputy as returned from patrol, so I must bid you goodbye. Take what I said to heart."
She waits for a response from Dustpaw before she sets off.

Darkstorm glanced over at Ivorymoon, narrowing his eyes. He surely didn't like the warrior's brother, but he always felt mixed about Ivorymoon. Ebonysun's influence on him was evident sometimes, but Ivorymoon didn't have as much malice, nor hopefully as much hatred for Thunderflight and her kin.
"Perhaps they are worried," he mused, "and they are hidden in thought. If I see my grandson, Blizzardpaw, I will be letting you know."
As soon as he'd finished speaking, Ebonysun charged in, spitting meaningless dribble as usual. Darkstorm said nothing in response, but gave the warrior a hard look, twitching his tail.

Glimmerpaw poked her head into the elder's den, about to ask if anyone wanted something to eat when the scent of prey hit her nose. Shaking her head, she backed out of the den and turned around, her tail sweeping the ground behind her as she thought. Bringing the elder's prey was her last resort of having something to do. She had scented her mentor earlier, but it was somewhat faint and she couldn't catch a fresher scent. When she'd caught her mother's scent in the same way, she'd located Dawnsky to ask and the she-warrior informed the apprentice that her mother and mentor had joined Thunderflight on a border patrol.

Skywhisker padded into the camp along with the rest of the patrol, her thoughts swimming as she wondered what they would do about Foxstar. Because a lot of what Ebonysun said had truth to it - Foxstar was being dangerously bold; she just didn't want unnecessary conflict. For her, she didn't care all too much, but she didn't want her kits to experience it quite yet. So as much as she found herself sometimes disagreeing with the dark pelted warrior, she didn't actually dislike him as much as some - he was a good warrior, loyal to Stormclan; she just hoped his strong views didn't influence her daughter negatively.

"Glimmerpaw, I think Ebonysun is looking for you." The orange and white tabby apprentice brightened at her mother's comment. "Okay. Thanks momma." Glimmerpaw meowed, taking a few pawsteps before she located the scent she was looking for. Walking carefully to the clearing, she flopped down beside who she hoped was her mentor. "Ebonysun? My mom said you were gonna look for me?" She offered up shyly.

Dustpaw bowed his head in turn to each warrior as they joined the group, glad to be acknowledged by his elders. The patchy tortoiseshell apprentice looked up at Darkstorm, Ivorymoon, and Ebonysun. Darkstorm and Ebonysun intimidated him, he had to admit. The way Ebonysun moved with such aggression made him uncomfortable. He often teased the other apprentices and warriors (in a friendly way), but never these warriors. Dustpaw didn't like being solemn, but he couldn't boost his mood since the earthquake. He listened to the comments of Ivorymoon, Darkstorm, and Ebonysun looking for Blizzardpaw. He knew the apprentice was jumpy and self-conscious. With the suspicion of strangers and outsiders, it was no surprise that the apprentice was hiding. Dustpaw couldn't care either way what Blizzardpaw's origins were as long as they could be friends.

"Yes, Silverstar," Dustpaw said, perking up slightly. He wanted to say more, but knew he couldn't hold his leader from speaking with Thunderflight. He looked up to see his friend, tail twitching. He wished he could spend some time with Thunderflight. It had been so long since the deputy had spent time with the apprentice. Dustpaw knew she was busy, but he couldn't help but start to wonder if she was deliberately avoiding him.

"Ivorymoon," Dustpaw said, addressing the pale eyed warrior. He could meet the warrior's eyes without fear, but he felt curiosity towards his elder. "I could look for Blizzardpaw, if you like." He offered. It could give him something to do, besides, he was sure he'd seen his fellow apprentice earlier.

Featherheart drew her paw over her face as she looked around the camp. It seemed the clans couldn't get a break. She didn't quite know what she thought about everything. On one paw, she liked Thunderflight and knew that she would do her best to raise her kits as loyal Stormclan warriors, but on the other paw - they weren't full blooded clan cats, she knew they were just apprentices; but one couldn't help but wonder what they'd be like when they got older, became warriors. Where would their loyalties lie? She'd thought about talking to Skywhisker about it, but she knew that the she-warrior would without a doubt defend their deputies children as well as the father - so that wasn't an option; the white she-cat had spoken with Whisperblade when he first arrived. She liked him. And thus, she was left to ponder the thoughts on her own.

Shaking her head, the ginger she-cat rose to her paws and gave her pelt a shake. Maybe she could take Dustpaw hunting, it would get the two of them out of camp - distract them from the tension that was present within the clan. Padding over to the small group that was gathering, she overheard Ebonysun mention taking Glimmerpaw out and Dustpaw offering to find Ivorymoon's apprentice. Tail flicking in thought, she wondered if it was a good idea for her and Dustpaw to leave camp as well. She could run it by Thunderflight and Silverstar.

The ginger she-cat nodded to herself, that was what she would do. Looking around for the two she-cats, she spotted them a few tail lengths away and sighed. They were most likely discussing the patrol Thunderflight had just returned from so it wouldn't be a great idea to interrupt, especially if it was important. Looking over to Dustpaw, she flicked his shoulder with her tail.
"You up for hunting if Thunderflight and Silverstar give us an okay?" Maybe it wasn't much of a question, because if she told him to join him on a hunt, he should because she was his mentor - but she did like to give him a voice in things. Featherheart turned her eyes to Ebonysun for a moment, he'd gone on the patrol, hadn't he? "Ebonysun? Did anything happen on the border patrol?" If it hadn't been anything big, then she could interrupt the two she-cats for a brief moment.

Ivorymoon turned a passive ear to Silverstar’s conversation with Dustpaw, taking careful note of the leader’s insight on the subject. He had not thought to change his perspective when the warning about ‘strangers’ could be taken in such a general light… Was this admonition for only the upcoming times? Or was this StarClan’s retribution for tainting their ancestral lines? He was more inclined to believe the former, partially due to Silverstar’s assurances that their warrior ancestors had approved of her choices. ‘Then, what exactly does it mean to have the heart of a warrior?’ The silver-gray tabby mused, eyes beginning to glaze in deep thought. This should have come to him as easy as swallowing a minnow, but ever since that time … he felt as if he was still groping for the meaning.

                                                            “Perhaps they are worried
                                                            If I see my grandson….”

He was vaguely aware of a response in his direction. Although he heard his voice, Ivorymoon had already begun tuning out the words... That was until an angry rant of a meow startled him out of his thoughts. “Yes.” he responded absentmindedly to both Darkstorm’s guarantee and Dustpaw’s offer, raising his gaze from the floor—only to stop mid-rise when a trace of burning amber entered his peripheral range. Ebonysun had returned. The warrior flicked his tail in greeting and listened to what he presumed as his brother’s version of the border patrol’s outcome. ‘You were always the action-oriented one of us…’ Ivorymoon reflected on the conflict of their history, which had only begun when Ebonysun started prodding for the truth…

“Perhaps, with tensions rising in the clan as it is, Thunderflight opted to exclude any outside factors.” He meowed quietly, staring at said she-cat and the leader from across the clearing. “Why, we are already dubious of our medicine cat’s loyalty to StormClan. Moonblaze of all cats…” he added the end comment to himself.
It was rare for Ivorymoon to ever voice his opinions, especially when it came to Ebonysun’s judgment. However, he felt strongly against instigating any more conflict. There was no need to fight when they were already at each other’s throats over clan-bred blood. He stole a glance at his brother, but lacked the courage to meet those haunting amber depths.

He nodded in reply to his brother’s question, eyes scanning the clearing once more.
‘Would it really be fair for Blizzardpaw to be sparring with a blind cat…?’ It was no rumor his apprentice was the worst off when it came to battling anyone, and perceiving the cat’s empathy … could he really raise even one claw against already blinded eyes? The silver-gray warrior dare not speak the thought aloud though, or else indirectly offend Darkstorm. And the last thing he wanted to do was make enemies out of any cat.

His attention was drawn to the apprentice herself as she came ambling over, seating herself beside him instead of his brother. Ivorymoon took the liberty to push Glimmerpaw the rest of the way to her respected mentor and spoke nothing of it.
“I will see what I can do once he is found.” In all honesty, he did not feel up to pinning his apprentice against Ebonysun’s. Not only would he probably regret the choice later, but if he remembered what Darkstorm had said, perhaps Blizzardpaw needed this time to collect himself. And of course, Ivorymoon understood the need to take sanctity in the subconscious.

((OOC: Forgot how sexy this graphic is =v= Thx again Echo~ Also ieawgiwe I didn't mean for this to take so long to post--I was waiting for Lightningpaw and then it all went down hill from there @~@))

Dustpaw flicked his bushy tail in greeting as Featherheart, his mentor, approached. He'd had enough of this tension, but listened all the same to what had to be said. Excitement at Featherheart's suggestion of going hunting bubbled up in the patchy apprentice. It felt like moons since he'd left came and been hunting! Perhaps they could even bring another apprentice along, maybe! He looked up at pale eyed Ivorymoon as the warrior gave him permission to find Blizzardpaw.

"I'll be right back, Featherheart," he chirped to his mentor and turned, bounding in the direction of the apprentice's den. He was sure he'd seen Blizzardpaw somewhere over here earlier. Maybe, just maybe, if Silverstar gave them permission to go hunting, they could bring Blizzardpaw with. It was obvious that the self conscious apprentice was hiding and likely didn't want to have battle practice. Honestly, though, Dustpaw couldn't blame him. Having battle training with Ivorymoon and Ebonysun wasn't easy nor was it fun. Ebonysun's gaze made Dustpaw feel clumsy and slow, as well as foolish, and Ivorymoon's glazed expression made him feel awkward on his own paws when he trained with Either mentor and their apprentices. It must be far worse for poor Blizzardpaw.

Dustpaw put his nose to the ground and sniffed, picking up the stale scent of his clanmate. Blizzardpaw hadn't been near the den for some time now, but he wouldn't have left the camp without permission. Dustpaw wove slowly away from the den, sniffing the ground and unconsciously moving closer to Blizzardpaw's hiding place, unaware of his fellow apprentice's location.
