Town Square

Dahn’s admission had Charney genuinely shocked. Her eyes were wide and her brows were knit together in a puzzled furrow. “Good gracious. I do hope you’ll forgive me for my astonishment, dear Dahn’Yul. You seem such a nice sort. Not at all anything like her usual type…” she shook her head, still trying to wrap it around this information. “You seem so…emotionally available…”

Hmm. Perhaps it was possible to change. Such an idea usually reviled Charney, but more and more she considered it a possibility. Why, if her dear Nia could change her normally self-destructive stripes, then why couldn’t other miracles exist?

She murmured soft pardons as she weaves through the crowds, and was visibly relieved to see the crowds thin as they approached the edge of the square.

Dahn chuckled a little as they neared the Tavern entrance.

"I don't know about all that. We enjoy each other's company and so spend time together. We really aren't trying to make a big deal of it right now, savor the moment as they say."

Now, of course, none of this was Charney's business. She was well aware, far more than some, of just how hard her friend had struggled to find stability in her relationships with...well, with anyone. But there was just something about this that didn't quite sit right with her. 'Not making a big deal' and 'savoring the moment' really wasn't her forte...had she really changed so much? Perhaps losing that marriage of hers had really done a lot of damage after all. Again, none of her business. But that didn't change that she was intensely curious.

"Hmm," she uttered sharply, doing her best to hide it. "Well. Good for you two, then."

As they left the town square behind, Charney looked out over the landscape ahead of them and tried to find any points of interest that would make better conversation topics for the rest of the journey, lest she begin to needle poor Dahn'Yul for dirt and details.
