Vincent made his way to a small lake and knelt down beside it as he began to fill his water pouch. It didn't do much for him, but it fought off his urges to feed a little bit that made it worth doing. He heard a twig snap as he looked around trying to see if anything was targeting him. He ignored it and waited to see if anything would come out to face him.

Rivette saw someone emerge from the forest and her heart quickened. It was a man, he looked seemingly normal...she wondered what kind of humanoid he was, she tried to crane her neck to get a better look, and carelessly let a tree branch snap underneath her hoof. She winced to see if he had noticed but he made no sudden movements, she was sure he had her it though.

Her mind was abuzz, "What should I do?? Do I run?? How do I know he won't try to kill me if I do reveal myself??" her gut twisted as her instinct told her to flee, but something stopped her, maybe it was her curiosity but non-the-less Rivette creeped out from behind the boulder, revealing only half of herself and resting a hand on the bolder, saying nothing, waiting for the man to make his move.

Vincent grinned slightly as he noticed where the person was. He disappeared from he was and appeared behind her. He saw she wasn't human, but something different. He turned his head and grinned at her. "Quite rude to stare isn't it?" He asked her as he drew his sword from the shadows. It's long, black blade pointed at her as he took an attack stance. "Who are you and why were you looking at me?" He asked her curiously as he waited for an answer.

Rivette's eyes widened as she saw the man disappear right in front of her eyes. She whipped around as she heard a voice coming from behind her, meeting face to face with the unpleasant feel of a blade. Rivette let out a gasp but quickly smothered it with a pale hand. Large tears welled up in her eyes and the Moonflower vines on the boulders began to writhe and come to life with her will, snatching and twisting around the unwelcomed visitor of the forest.

The vines moved in the blink of an eye, growing rapidly under Rivette's distress, they attempted to entangle the man completely in their leafy cocoon. It was a complex enough distraction for Rivette to try and make her getaway, her powerful hooves voted her off the ground carrying her swiftly through the darkness of the forest, her eyes blurred with emotion and fear.

"Well, this was unexpected." Vincent said as he disappeared from the grasp of the vines. He stayed inside the shadows as he looked for the person. "Where'd you go?" He asked as he looked around for her. "Run all you want, but you will answer me."

Rivette ran until she was gasping for breath and her legs could no longer carry her and collapsed by a nearby oakwood. She hoped she was safely stowed away from the creature in the forest but she could not be certain. The fireflies floated softly through the trees and watching them drift slowly through the branches calmed her pounding chest. She knew there was no more running. Their soft blinking lights lulled her into sleep as she leaned the back of her head onto the hard trunk of the tree.

Dryllarin always warned her that her curiosity would get her into trouble one day. Maybe now it would finally catch up with her.

Vincent walked towards the area he saw the woman run and tried to find her. He eventually saw her passed out against a tree and decided to study her for a few moments. "A horse and woman, what were those called I can't remember for the life of me." He said as he looked down. "I'm sure it's blood taste similar to that of a human." He said to himself as he watched her.

Rivette shivered in her sleep, feeling the predatory gaze upon her, but fatigue pushed her animal instinct aside leading her deeper into the welcoming arms of sleep.

"Looks like I already scared her, better find something else to feed off." Vincent said as he looked around. "Time to look for shelter I suppose." He said as he began walking around near the woman and finding anything to hide from the sunlight coming in a few hours. He found a huge tree that had a deep hole inside the trunk and he studied it to make sure sunlight wouldn't touch him while he was asleep.

As Rivette slept the root of the Oak she was resting on began to twist and form it's own shape, it cradled her head and shoulders and lowered her to her side to make for a more comfortable resting place. Her hair glimmered even in the dark night as it shifted across her shoulders with the movement but she stirred little.

The moss of the ground raced to cover up the roots forming a soft cushion for her body and head making a small bed of the niche. Vines and leaves creeped around her as they covered her body in a loose blanket of shrubbery. The tendrils of the nearby saplings weaved together to form a canopy, shielding her from the elements and leaving her to dream in peace.

Once he was secured, he fell into a deep sleep as he waited for the day to run it's course. As soon as the sun set, he would be free to venture on to a new area or perhaps find someone to feed off.

Rivette woke up just as dusk was falling and the sky was turning a flushed pink towards the skyline. She stretched and groaned, looking around she tried to remember where she was...the breeze touched her cheek and the trees swayed comfortingly as she ducked out of her niche. She remembered watching the fireflies...and running from something.

She stood up in alarm, her tail pointed upwards looking around for signs of the creature from the night before but she found none. Seeing that the cost was clear Rivette relaxed and looked at her surroundings. She wasn't sure if she had even been in this part of the woods...She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, something sweet caught her attention, she followed her nose to a throng of creamy white flowers all growing in a cluster just above shoulder height.

Rivette smiled. She remembered when she was a child and used to drink the nectar of these plants. Her mother had bent down pulled them to her lips. She could almost remember the taste. A playful smile tugged at her lips as she cupped one of the soft blossoms in her hand. She stood on the fronts of her hooves and brought the flower to her lips, tilting it and waiting for the nectar to roll down the petals. She closed her eyes. It tasted so sweet and brought back countless memories of sunny days spent in the forest. The nectar was so syrupy it made her tongue tingle with the flavor.

Rivette smiled as she smacked her lips, Dryllarin would scold her for acting like such a colt but she didn't care. She released the flower, now in a better state of mind than before and went searching for some sweet smelling flowers to weave into a necklace. She bounded into the meadows and picked flowers of all colors, purple, pink, white, peach, of all different sizes. Once she was satisfied with her spoils she trotted off towards the edge of the pond, her bundle in hand. It was not far from where she had slept but far enough away from the place she had met that creature.

Rivette flopped down contently and started braiding her flowers together while humming a small tune. She loved days like this; peaceful, unended and uninterrupted. Once she finished the last few knots of her necklace she wove the two ends together thus completing it. Then something caught Rivette's ear, like an echo of her song. She stopped humming and listened. It was....music! Standing up cautiously she investigated the sound. It was on the other side of the pond. The sky was getting darker now and she could just make out the light of a fire. Rivette raced back to the tree she had slept by and saw a sight what made her heart catch in her throat.

The thing that was chasing her last night had curled up under a large root of the oak she had been so near to, he was sleeping away the last remaining hours of sunlight. Her first instinct was to run without looking back, but again her curiosity got the better of her. She leaned in trying to get a better look. As she examined him he appeared more like a man than the vicious beast she had seen before. He looked so cold and lifeless, if she had not noticed the almost imperceptible rise and fall of his chest she would have thought him dead. But the expression on his face was soft if not a little pained. She wondered to herself what was the cause of it...Rivette wished not to stay any longer but found it strange to leave him there, so she bent low and placed her flowered necklace at the rim of his abode. She backed away silently not wanting to wake him and went off in search of the music that wafted through the trees so merrily.

(Sorry, since Rivette has all day and part of the night I have to write more for her to do. ^_^' I apologize for the novel. )
