Makoto Shinkai is a Japanese anime director, animator, and principal voice actor.
Shinkai has been called "The New Miyazaki," but humbly disagrees with this comparison.
He believes "it is an overestimation."

Memories of the Sky, or 'Sora no Kioku' is taken from the title of his sole released artbook,
a name that ties into the prominent theme of 'distance.'

Thus far he has completed 5 films

Makoto's films gives a realistic view of the struggles many face against time,
space, people, and love, wether it be in a fantasy based world,
or that of one similar to our own.

The title '5 Centimeters Per Second' comes from the speed at which
cherry blossoms petals fall, petals being a metaphorical representation of humans,
reminiscent of the slowness of life and how people often start together
but slowly drift into their separate ways.

So just WHAT is this guild all about?

This guild is a place of discussion for Makoto Shinkai and topics related to his works.
It is with hope that by forming this guild, knowledge of this fantastic artist
and his work can be shared with others.

WHO can join?

Anyone is welcome to join, as long as you hold an interest for some aspect of
Mr. Shinkai's works, be that a literal interpretation, or a personal one,
or you're simply curious and want to learn more =)

It would be great if people could post every now and then to help keep the guild alive,
but as with most things, hypes eventually end, if they even start at all,
and being aware of this likelihood, I have no expectations for this guild,
other than it be a place where those who are passionate about Mr. Shinkai's
and his works can always a special place.

Please mind that you follow the T.O.S. and avoid the 'prohibited conduct'
