Lolita coats from Bodyline? 8 Lolita Fashion 12/29/13 2:07am
Keally212
I haven't owned that particular Bodyline coat, but in general BL coats are worth the $100 price tag. They're not the most amazing-quality coats out there but they are about on par with something you could pick up at the mall for the same price. I used mine in winter temperatures of 30-40 degrees Fahrenheit (no snow) over a cardigan, blouse, and dress and I was quite warm. With that said, I'd be ...

That PARTICULAR Malco Modes petti will give you the correct bell shape, it's one of the most popular pettis for lolitas. They have a lot of other square-dancing ones that do give a weird shape, so if you opt to go that route be sure to ask for model number 582 c:

Feel like crying... 18 Lolita Fashion 1/18/13 8:21pm

Please be careful buying from that group. A lot of people who have been banned from other communities sell there. I have bought about six items on there. One was badly inkstained and is essentially unwearable. A second was described as in like-new condition but came massively pilled with pulled seams. And a third was literally COVERED in blood. I screamed when I saw it, it was so gross. The othe ...

A cutsew is actually just any top that's made out of a knit material ^^ They can be pretty extravagant (like this one) and sometimes even look just like blouses (like this one)! You can wear cutsews or blouse with any style, it's more about the details of the individual item than it is about the item type.

A cutsew is a top made of knit t-shirt material. Sometimes they're t-shirts with puffy sleeves and a cute print, but they can also be very elaborate. Blouses are just pieces made out of a stiff material ^^ As for your earlier question about replicas, I personally would stay away. DoL has notoriously low quality. Oo Jia's quality is a little below Bodyline's in my experience. Both will cost yo ...

Vintage and dance stores are the best place to start. I have three vintage petticoats that give amazing poof (I only have three so I can have different color options!) and they cost between $20 and $25 apiece. Dance stores often carry the Malco Modes 582 petticoat, which gives a stellar shape for lolita. If they don't have it in-stock they can usually special-order it for you and it usually runs a ...

I'm gonna wear uggs with lolita to a meet soon ;) 41 Lolita Fashion 1/20/13 8:37pm

I personally hate Uggs, but hey, do what you want u_u I think if you're going to do something a little offbeat, though, you do have to be aware that it might not be lolita. Lolita's separated from other fashions by the fact that it has rules and guidelines, so by breaking them you might be breaking away from the fashion, too! But there's nothing wrong with that c:

I'd like some advice please! 11 Lolita Fashion 1/14/13 4:22am

1. Just start buying ^^ To make an outfit, you generally need a blouse, a dress or skirt, a hair accessory, legwear, a petticoat, and shoes. You can usually get legwear, headbows, and shoes at "normal" stores for pretty cheap, to help save money when you start out. Petticoats are also easy to find for low prices at vintage shops, and even on eBay. The blouse and dress will probably look best if yo ...

Using brand items in non-lolita outfits? 4 Lolita Fashion 1/15/13 2:37pm
cynicalshortca...
I do it pretty often ^^ I tend to buy a lot of brand items that don't really look lolita, so it's easy to work them into non-lolita outfits. This cardigan, for instance, is from Meta and I wear it with jeans often since it's too long to wear with most lolita. This skirt and this salopette are shorter than traditional lolita fare and lack a full skirt, but they look really cute in casual outfits an ...

Then please don't make assumptions about my character or participation in online forums, either, if it has you so upset! You were the one who clearly called into question my experience with extended discussion on online forums, not vice-versa. I feel I'm pretty well-versed in communicating online, and contrary to your initial implication I don't think I suffer some inability to comprehend the pr ...

Considering I've been on the site much longer than you have, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say yes, I have, in fact, engaged in as much extended, heated discussion as you have. Hell, I will even say that I have engaged in much more extended, heated discussion than you have. So I understand what you're saying- that it can be difficult to follow the flow of a thread if content is missin ...

Velvet in Lolita 12 Lolita Fashion 1/16/13 1:11pm
Bunny-Lolita-C...
Velvet's actually a pretty popular fabric in lolita. Some of the most sought-after prints out there (e.g. Angelic Pretty's Carnival and Puppet Circus series) are made out of velvet ^^ Every brand puts out at least one velvet item per year and while it's not the most common fabric due to its higher price tag, it's pretty accepted and you can usually see a few velvet items every winter. I would s ...

Lolita Sites- Suggestions/Help 11 Lolita Fashion 1/14/13 7:48pm
Butter and Jam
If you want to buy secondhand from Yahoo!Japan and mBok, I would advise against using Celga. I used to use them and they grossly overcharge for shipping (they tried to make me pay $90 shipping on a 1-pound package once!), often forget to bid on items, and have even lost many users' items altogether- and their fees are some of the more expensive fees out there. For Yahoo!Japan I've found Noppin t ...
