blg difference between society and Jesus 59 Morality and Religion 1/21/15 4:40pm

As you can see in the comments, people are cheering for this star, and easily mock Jesus and His followers as if it wasn't offensive, and try to show that by hating Christians, they are able to juxtapose this situation and appear superior by comparison. Or, rather, to oppose a person who thinks that gender discrimination is acceptable in a certain form of two-party contract (because if it isn ...

Contact your human resources department, quite simply. If HR doesn't do anything, take it to your state's Department of Labor, or local equivalent. The fellow's statement is (since he knows that you're Jewish) directed harassment based on a protected category (religion) and your employer is legally obligated to protect all employees from such. If you're worried about the employer acting a ...

Can somebody explain why Jesus cursed a fig tree? 47 Morality and Religion 1/18/15 6:17pm

And I've responded to that as such. Basically, I'm looking for separate validation of the guy's claims about "taqsh". As for the rest of it, attaching the fig = Israel analogy (and the interpretation that Jesus killed the fig tree as a symbol of Israel being useless) to this incident is adding to the text, whereas the intent of the story is clearly stated by Jesus: with enough faith (descr ...

I agree with Markan primacy, and that Matthew changed elements of Mark to fit his intent and audience. I only don't agree with your original assertion that the two accounts have the same chronological sequence. It's not a possible argument given the textual evidence; and as you're saying now, attempting it isn't even necessary. But a "shower thought" I had on the way to work this morning: ...

You seem to be ignoring the grounds on which I disagree. I'm saying that Matthew excludes the possibility of a full day passing when he uses the term parachrêma in that passage. It's not one motion - by the terms used, it's one momentary event. Also, the reactions to seeing the tree can only indicate that Matthew and Mark are working on different time scales. Matthew's disciples are stunn ...

If an ordinary online Bible counts as a website, then yes; because Bible Gateway is the only site I referenced at all. MATTHEW 1. Jesus makes a humble and meek entry.(Matthew 21:1-11) 2.Jesus goes into the temple and overturns the tables of the moneychangers. (Matthew 21:12-13) 3. Jesus leaves the city and lodges at Bethany for a night, and in the morning Jesus leaves and enters the city ...

Matthew's version (in chapter 21) has this flow: 1. Triumphal Entry 2. Goes to the temple and assaults the merchants 3. Goes to Bethany for the night. 4. Comes back to Jerusalem, cursing the tree which immediately withers. Mark's version (in chapter 11) has this flow: 1. Triumphal Entry 2. Checks out what's going on at the temple, then goes to Bethany for the night. 3. Comes b ...

As a curiosity, since google is overloaded with Christian fist-pumping (and fist-bumping) over this quote... is there corroboration for it? One example of information that I could find is this: http://www.crfg.org/pubs/ff/fig.html http://www.treesofjoy.com/content/breba-bonus-figs-crop It describes a "breba crop" that grows in the spring - but those are not fore-runners of the main cro ...

Here are a few of 7's better known challenges - and they make "no summons" totally casual: IENANENPANLBCMO Initial equipment, no accessories, no escaping, no physical attacks, no limit breaks, command materia only (and at that, no command materia that cause physical attacks.) Challenge starts outside of Midgar. SCIENMNANE Solo character (except where another is mandatory,) initial equ ...

We don't know the girl's side. We know what her mother claims is her side - and that's a rather notable aspect of the story: we don't have any direct quotes from Cassandra herself. In fact, it appears that neither the doctors nor the court could discern her opinion as anything other than a parroting of the mother's. The chemo protocol normally used for Hodgkin's is notable for being much le ...

No Sphere Grid is pretty much a "gateway drug" for self-imposed challenges in FFX. At the craziest, it can take a form like: -No Sphere Grid -No Summoning -No Overdrives -No non-mandatory Blitzball playing -No Customisation (but powering up Ultimate Weapons is ok) -No avoiding or preventing random encounters

Then he shouldn't use bad arguments as the support for his principle, because their badness is of a sort that undermines it. The fine tuning argument does not work if the possible tuning ranges are broad; and just leaving aside the astronomical variables, the history of life on earth has been one marked with rather broad tuning ranges. Is that what it did? Where? I think it is your own bias ...

Nottingham might be good for a multiplayer option; it supports up to 7. Basically, it's a game of building up card combos to play for points, and there's potential for interaction among players with every single play. Since there are only seven interaction types, it's quick to learn and kinda quick to play. Best of all, it's compact. :3nod:

So, by your own admission, the op-ed is presenting obsolete paradigms as necessarily true criteria. That's a major part of the problem here. We can't really state with any level of certainly that the parameter are or are not necessary. We do know with a degree of certainly that life at any level requires sustainability in order for it to continue. Which isn't the matter at discussion. The c ...

First, "credentials" are not necessary here. There are statements presented as fact, that can be argued against to show that they're wrong. And those refutations can be checked; Kepler-47, for example, is in fact a binary star system with at least two planets orbiting circumbinary... which refutes the op-ed's claim that more than one star makes it impossible to have a stable orbit. I thin ...
