fav game soundtrack? 48 Gaming Discussion 11/10/14 7:53pm

While I'm very much a fan of video game music in general, I'll just leave two games here. This is not to say that there aren't other games - because there are a lot I could name - but the OSTs for these two certainly stand out without being obvious (Megaman series, Guilty Gear, Final Fantasy, etc): 1. Soul Edge / Blade (note, not so much Soul Calibur.) PSX. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9 ...

"Justin Bailey" is a reference to Metroid 1: if you beat the game fast enough, she would become unarmoured, wearing typical 80s workout gear (long-sleeved legless bodysuit) with combat boots. The colour scheme was red with brown hair (without Varia,) or magenta with green hair (for Varia.) You would then be able to play as Samus in this form. You could also access unarmoured form with pas ...

Why are FF fans so happy about FF 15 ditching the turn based 109 Final Fantasy 11/26/14 4:44pm
Magma_Zeuhl
Mega Man X features most of those things - or, at least, versions of them (refillable sub-tanks instead of pots, for example.) Yet it's not typically counted as an RPG, even an action-RPG. So there must be something other than finding (or grinding an unlock for) upgrades, reducing damage taken, and contingently regenerating health. It also can't simply be levels, or else a beat-em-up like ...

Personally, I don't like the genre distinctions as they stand - the difference between an adventure game and an RPG is quite fuzzy. Even people that sort games into genres can be remarkably inconsistent: according to Gamefaqs, Zelda 1 is an action-adventure, but Zelda 3 (LttP) is an action-RPG. How in the no-filled juffo-wup does that work?

Strong characters can also be sexualised while remaining strong - consider Aya Brea if someone simply replaced her appearance with that of Mai Shiranui. The obvious sexualised appearance makes no comment as to her being strong otherwise. (Then again, it makes no comment concerning Mai's own ability.) This is why I say that being sexualised (that is, having male gaze attracting looks for the ...

So you agree that sexualised appearance does not intrinsically speak against a character's ability to be strong. ...and then you go on to disagree because your position requires it. Do you understand the problem here? Or, in short. You: "X is the case" Me: "Not necessarily." You: "Yes, necessarily, except when..." --IT IS NOT MY JOB TO GOOGLE FOR YOU. --IT IS YOUR JOB TO DEFINE YOU ...

Here. And yes, Samus needs this. Including the non-ponytail green hair. (The difference with non-Varia is that she has brown hair and a slightly lighter shade of clothing.)

You will be able to buy Mewtwo on either version, if you didn't get him as a freebie. Pikachu and Jigglypuff are twice the size they should be - they should only stand as tall as Samus's knees, rather than be fully half her size. Scaling can be worked around.

Found out something else. Sheik's Water Shield (YX -> X) does not protect against Barrier Damage - the damage inflicted by keeps that you need a fairy (or to take the keep) to dispel. I'll be trying to do a comparative analysis on character agility as well. For example, Fi has a very quick dodge with good range and a slight speed boost after the dodge; but she is PAINFULLY slow on the trans ...

"Sexualised" is a subjective viewpoint; your line is not my line. "Sexualised" does not have any influence on whether a character is strong; and you appear to be pretending otherwise. Also, you said characters, and only added (leads? no lol, not many) as a side comment. I googled the percent. It's 48% and not 50% so I'm expecting STRONG female characters that are LEADS for about 50% ROUGH ...

Ships happen; while it started with X-Files, it's more accurate to blame Pokemon for it; the Pokemon fandom ships everything if it can be construed as being even possible, canon be damned.

Let's pretend that a subjective viewpoint actually influences unrelated subjective viewpoints in a somehow objective manner. show me proof that strong female characters (leads? what leads? oh. heather from SH3) in games = 50% and I'll stop complaining about misogyny. Besides the calls to identify what is "strong," please identify what you mean by 50%. Lay out the ground rules for your cha ...

Square and Enix weren't one company back then; and Square was virtually a Nintendo second party, so it's probable that Nintendo at least implicitly approved of the easter egg.

Close. That was only done in translation; the original read: "RINKU koko ni nemuru" (Link sleeps here.) Interestingly enough, there is a "Here Lies Erdrick" in another game... in Zelda II. In Saria town, there was a gravestone that said "Yuusha ROTO koko ni nemuru" (The hero Loto / Erdrick sleeps here.) This was, however, removed outright in translation. Elfheim's "Here Lies Link" is ...
