If you reject the doctrine of the Trinity, it's fine, and I'll withdraw my objection to that. :3nod: But if you do accept the Trinity, then it's not possible to argue that the spirit of Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, are the same - that's confusion of substance. I think what you mean is your sect decided what the text and teaching was, instead of the teaching speaking for itself. Is this cor ...

Paraphrasing. You are making the claim that the actual meaning of scripture is incomprehensible to those who don't have the Holy Spirit. And there is no functional difference between the separation of spiritual and natural discernment, and Thieves Cant or similar secret languages. The words are English, but outsiders can't understand what's really being said. Where the comparison to myster ...

The fancy term is parsimonious. But here's the problem. Parsimony means striving to find the hypothesis that best balances simplicity and sufficiency. Simplicity refers to having the minimal number of steps, while excluding black boxes - proposals that are neither supported by evidence nor axiomatic. Sufficiency refers to how completely the hypothesis describes its referent. So in our ...

What you believe is a mystery cult, then; because you are asserting that your book is written in a secret language that resembles English, but is incomprehensible without knowing a secret code only known to insiders. The secret code, in your case, is the Holy Spirit. It is true, the spirit of man does make interpretations, such as yourself. The spirit of man will always make interpretations ...

Choose to believe, choose to adhere, same semantic distinction as faith and doctrine; you don't get to criticise people for not understanding how you are using words, while also criticising people for the words they are using. That said, once again, the Holy Spirit gives the revelation; the doctrine is how that revelation is interpreted by man. This can be readily proven by how many differen ...

The Holy Spirit is not the faith; within your perspective, this is what I meant by "the source of the revelation is not a doctrine." Now, you can say that the Holy Spirit transforms the soul, with an effect similar to brainwashing - and that without this, the person cannot choose to believe... ...in other words, "the people do not decide the faith"... ...but then you are reducing Christ ...

"The people do not decide the faith." This is wrong, as doctrine is simply codified belief - and it is codified by people (generally priests,) not by itself. You can say that the people are inspired and/or had a revelation; but they are the ones interpreting it and codifying it as they understand it. (Just to be sure, the source of the revelation is not a doctrine!) "The faith decides th ...

It's not so much that. If I can try to rephrase the question: For some reason, I want to get involved in a game set in a high school where many of the students have superpowers (eg, X-Men Evolution, Sky High, Smallville, Railgun, etc.) I have several game systems to choose from, and can help the GM add skills relevant to a school setting. Gray Ran wants you to sell your engine considerin ...

AA seems to be suggesting that all that's needed to understand the Christian answer is divine fiat. No background information, no theology, no apologetics, just a flick of a Bic from the third subset of God. Unfortunately, without much or any seeking an answer, people assume almost if by definition that creation cannot be a good model. Thus it is not looked into. Creationism can't be a good ...

You could put the social skills under Spirit; Big Eyes Small Mouth takes this approach, with most social Attributes being governed by the Soul Stat, and the few social Skills that exist at least having Soul as a possible governing stat. As for Combat Charger, I'd advise against using the Trait system to shore up core mechanics in such a direct way. Instead, try this: Make each defence mode ...

:3nod: I've had a bit longer to mull this over. Another round of observations: 0. Your system seems heavily derived from d20 Modern in more aspects than just cribbing Wealth. (Compare the attributes as you present them, to d20's stat modifiers. Perfect match.) ------ 1. If you're not going to be a mage, then there is an ideal generalist build: STR -1 AGI 4 END 4 INT 4 SPI - ...

That's part of a group of situations that isn't covered in the rules. :3nod: The simplest way is this. If the players could be aware of the new combatants, assume they are; give them an initiative roll at the start of the round they enter. If the players would not be aware (such as your patient archers,) then use the Delay rule (or, if it's reasonable, the Ready rule) to set their initiati ...

Yes. touch ac: I guess this is what you use when you're being hit by something that ignores armor, so may something like...your opponent shoots a magical bolt of lighting at you, and because you're wearing metal armor it's not going to protect you much, . "Touch AC" is when you're being attacked by something that could miss, and it doesn't care whether you have armour. For example, a t ...

12 years already? o.o 15-03=12... yeah, I suppose it has been. Anyhoo, I'm one of those silly '03 users who's seen so much go on here that pinning down any single or even short list of memories would do injustice to all the others. Everything from discussing theorycraft for a "battle system," debating the relative merits of western vs. eastern medieval weapons, Ducky Hat and Fairy Wings be ...

I'll have several observations, pretty much for each chapter. Please make of them what you will. 1. CHARACTER CREATION: a) Why are those five attributes, and their fiveness, to be explicitly taken as immutable? b) What are those five attributes? Since this is the point at which a new player will be statting out the character, these need to be defined. As an experienced RPGer especiall ...
