Oh Jesus ******** Christ. 140 Extended Discussion 9/1/14 2:38am
Times Of War
It's more of what extreme feminism sounds like to my ear (and it's not just one Guardian article, sadly.) I think that most of us who have any ability to think agree that rape is extremely bad and its convicts should - subject to normal review, so that we aren't killing the innocent / framed - be removed from existence. It totally should. And yes, we should attack the problem against the a ...

Oh Jesus ******** Christ. 140 Extended Discussion 9/1/14 2:38am

There's a basic position that you need to understand about Feminism©, which might clear that up for you. ~Women should have no duty to self-defence against any form of attack, especially those initiated by a man. Women should have no duty to risk assessment in any decision; and that any related choice should in no wise be construed as a factor in the attack, should an attack occur. In sh ...

HOLY s**t!!! WE FINALLY GOT A POKEMON FIGHTING GAME I"M HYPE 33 Gaming Discussion 8/27/14 4:58pm

Most of them won't be. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 clocks in at 59 characters, while KoF 2002 Unlimited has about 65. There are some games that push it higher; generally DBZ or Naruto licences, though Tobal 2 (a Square game, of all things!) had 200 characters. I'd imagine that since Bandai Namco is working on it, that they'll stick to using relatively humanoid Pokemon, as well as those that ...

ALL THE YES, right here. I still have a copy. :3nod: Also, it doesn't just take the art style etc. from mecha anime. The mecha are designed by Shouji Kawamori - the same fellow who designed those tons of other mecha based animes.

Christians Believe That Atheists Are Fools???? (Video) 59 Morality and Religion 9/2/14 3:55am

0:35 "If you're wondering why Christians view you as a fool, and someone who is basically blind, deaf and dumb, this video today is going to enlighten you on the subject. You need to respect our worldview; we have the right and freedom in this country to believe whatever we want to believe; and you have to tolerate, love, and accept that." Three problems, and we haven't cleared a minute ye ...

Then at least steer them right at the start, then bring in the "fun" (read: impolite) phrases once they have the basics. Terve = hello, and kuinka voitte = how are you. :3nod:

If Jesus was a comic book hero? 16 Morality and Religion 8/31/14 11:11pm

This actually sorta happened. In '96, Rob Liefeld did a crossover of Avengelyne and Glory called The Godyssey - and Jesus was in the first issue, kicking the collective a** of the Greek pantheon after jumping down off the cross. While it was just a dream sequence... there it is.

Prophecy of Isaiah: Emperor Cyrus 251 Morality and Religion 8/9/14 1:52am

And I think my argument is equally unclear to you. Most Biblical scholarship holds that the part of Isaiah starting at chapter 40 was not written 150 years prior to the fact, but in a world where Cyrus was already building his empire and considering Babylon to add to his collection. The line between chapter 39 and chapter 40 is an abrupt change in style on several levels.

...you do understand that you're claiming evidence against you as evidence for you. The hypothesis divides the book of Isaiah into three periods, with one part written in each period; and the evidence supporting it is the shifts in tone and presupposition. This "prophecy" belongs to the second part, is grounded in an Exilic framework, and referred to things about to happen. The "naysa ...

So let's talk about Isaiah Sure. Where we left off was this: 1. Isaiah is a book written in three different time periods, and reflects the current state of the Israelite people in three distinct states: ---While under siege from Assyria; ---Late into the Babylonian exile, at a time when the Persians were about to make a move; ---After Cyrus's restoration, and reflecting the same tone ...

That isn't a contradiction. I got bread and meat and put it all together, toasted it for 3 minutes, put some sauce on the sandwich and ate it, and saying I made a sandwich isn't a contradiction. One says you made a turkey and ham with ranch. One says you made a turkey (no ham) with thousand island. One says you made a tuna and swiss with honey mustard - and later made a turkey and ham. O ...

Actually, no. It's things I've known about the Bible - and the part of my life in which I was immersed in Lutheran theology - for a rather long time. You can also ask people around here: when I get going, this is what my posts often look like. I can try to simplify if needed. :3nod: Anyway, your first part. You say that the only people who believe this is people who believe in prophecies, ...

The only people who hold that Isaiah was written by one author are people prone to believe in long-range prophecies - and do so in blatant violation of Deuteronomy 18's instruction concerning prophets. We needn't deny that Isaiah 1-39 is of 8th century BCE vintage to establish this, either: Jewish prophecy contains a sign and a message. The sign must come to pass for those to whom the messag ...
