Do any girl here enjoy kicking guys in the nuts 75 Lifestyle Discussion 8/23/14 5:56am
Tony Troubble
Speaking as a guy - if a guy is physically threatening a girl, she's justified in kicking him below the belt. Hell, I'm a guy, and if I'm in a fight and see an opening, I'm planting a kick there, because it's a potentially incapacitating hit. The key phrase there is "physically threatening"; as in, he's displaying physically aggressive behaviors that would lead a reasonable person to believe he ...

Coming out to your parents as any religion besides theirs 15 Morality and Religion 8/23/14 5:31am
The Forbidden Soul
If you've got the means to support yourself (a job, a place to stay, etc), then come out to them. Their reaction will tell you whether they're worth actually having in your life from that point onward. It may sound heartless to say, but only a heartless ******** would disown their own child simply because of a difference in beliefs and faith.

Can have my cup of science and slice of religion to? 51 Morality and Religion 8/23/14 12:30pm

It's possible to be spiritual, or be a theist, and still accept scientific facts as the truths they are; many scientists are spiritual (Neil DeGrasse Tyson, for example, kind of hinted at himself being at least somewhat spiritual in Cosmos). Organized religion, however, has this nasty tendency to discredit or dismiss any scientific facts that disprove, or fail to prove, their dogma and beliefs, be ...

Best Dark Side of the Moon song 7 Extended Discussion 8/23/14 5:13am
Veto Wolf
I kind of consider Dark Side of the Moon to be a single, just-under-45-minutes-long song that just happens to break down into segments. I honestly can't listen to any part of it without the rest. That being said, though, "Us and Them" is honestly my favorite part of the entire album, partially because of the great experience I got the first time I heard it. I was camping near the Umpqua River L ...

What do you think about what's going on in Ferguson? 157 Extended Discussion 8/23/14 6:19am
IVovacane
Considering the ******** of misinformation, half-truths and biased opinions that always follow any incident like this, I've been staying away from this issue. I honestly don't trust anyone to be unbiased enough to give me a proper recounting of exactly what happened (so far all I'm aware of is a white cop shot a black guy who allegedly committed a crime, and Ferguson's black community is rioting b ...

If I can only pick one (because I'd like to nominate the entire black metal genre), I'd have to say Brokencyde. Favorite movie composer?

Name a major Christian rock band from the 1990s and early 2000s, and I've likely seen them in concert. Charlie Daniels KC and the Sunshine Band (long, long ago) Metallica (twice; once as an opening act and once as the headliner) The Rolling Stones (Metallica was the opening act) Megadeth Slayer Testament Lamb of God (opening act for Metallica) The Sword (opening act for Metallica) Arct ...

Blind Guardian and Other Tolkien Metal Bands 27 Lord of the Rings 8/23/14 4:21am
spoonybard111
Blind Guardian isn't really "Tolkien metal"; they do have a lot of material about Tolkien, such as the aforementioned Nightfall in Middle-Earth, but they run the gamut for fantasy sources in most of their work. And no conversation about Tolkien-influenced music can be complete without Led Zeppelin. "The Battle of Evermore" is a great song; I actually saw Heart cover it in concert, and it was am ...

The Return of the King > The Two Towers > The Fellowship of the Ring > An Unexpected Journey > The Desolation of Smaug > a power drill to the skull > the animated LoTR and Hobbit movies from way back in the day (I bet you forgot about those piles of s**t, didn't you?).

Blind Guardian is the standard to which I hold all power metal, which is why it's so hard for me to find power metal I actually enjoy.

Favorite band is currently Blind Guardian (as it has been for a while). Favorite songs (and their albums) are: 1: "Sacred Worlds" - At the Edge of Time 2: "And Then There Was Silence" - Memories of a Time To Come (remastered version of a song from A Night at the Opera) 3: "A Voice in the Dark" - At the Edge of Time 4: "Wheel of Time" - At the Edge of Time 5: "Valkyries" - At the Edge of Tim ...

Anyways, I used to be a fan of Evanescence in middle school, and like pretty much every other band I used to listen to in middle school, I outgrew them. They've got a decent singer paired with a mediocre band, and even Amy Lee is pretty underwhelming compared to other female metal vocalists like Sharon den Adel or Tarja Turunen*. *Or the sixty ******** million female metal vocalists who all s ...

My god, why are people SO sensitive when it comes to people expressing their dislike of a band they enjoy? Comments whining about people being so negative are not necessary answers....if you can't handle people expressing criticism of a band you like, why not just stop posting in public forums?

A friend of mine told me a story about a player whose character was wooing a princess, and decided that pissing on a shrine dedicated to the god of spite would be a good idea. The next day, a giant dragon flew overhead and dropped a massive turd that landed on the guy, crushing him. The princess's crown was sticking out of the s**t pile. That's the kind of punishment I like to go for in my game ...
