My baby got spayed and microchipped today! Note: She doesn't have any funky eye issues, the picture just makes it look that way.

Nerds who name their cats 25 Pets! 12/26/14 11:02pm

I named my cat growing up Marlin, after the character in Harvest Moon A(nother) Wonderful Life... Hazel (my Havanese/Poodle) is named such because she has brown eyes, and some light brown streaks of fur dispersed within her white fur.

Views on spaying and neutering your animals 34 Pets! 12/1/14 4:06am
Fallen-Pottery...
That's fine. In my experience and the experience of my coworkers with years more in the field than I have, intact male dogs are more difficult in a veterinary setting. -Oftentimes- more difficult to restrain, and quicker to start snapping at us. Are there intact male dogs who are sweet as pie and easy to work with? Absolutely. I think being intact makes them more likely to be difficult/aggressi ...

Spaying/neutering always. Always. I work in a veterinary hospital where we see specialty cases during the day, and ER cases nights and weekends. Open 24/7. Intact males are more aggressive, have tougher skin (which really only matters because venipuncture and catheter placement are way difficult lol). Also "fun" fact, intact animals are harder to regulate certain disease processes in (such as co ...

That moment when your dearest have to go for good 6 Pets! 11/29/14 7:59pm

There's a genetic* factor to hip dysplasia for sure, but there are other factors that can lead to it as well. Also, there are a couple different surgeries one can do for it. What breed of dog and how old is she btw? As far as "neck constriction" I don't know what that is... and it'd be helpful if you knew what meds they were going to treat that with.

Be less vague. What kind of issues is she having and what surgery is it?

The Kitten and the UTI 10 Pets! 12/1/14 10:24pm
linx1
This sounds sooo like an obstructed cat to me. Are you sure it's a UTI and not a urinary obstruction? Is he peeing at all? Are you sure your vet is actually good.... because this sounds so much like a blocked cat, males aren't very prone to UTIs... And C/D is the food you put male cats on who have blocked in the past and such...

Advice for the Loss of my Best Friend? (Maltipoo) Long Post! 8 Pets! 11/23/14 6:22pm
Alexandriana Kay
I can't not be rude about this... You/your parents/whoever you think is ultimately responsible here (from your post and how old I assume you are, then it's your parents' fault) watched your dog die. Not only that, but she suffered for weeks and died in an extremely horrible way. If it was CHF then it's drowning, drowning in your own blood. What the Hell kind of people do that to their animal? An ...

I want a cute bunny 14 Pets! 11/25/14 9:13pm

Please just be aware of the problems bunnies can have, medically. Between GI stasis, GI obstructions, and overgrown teeth that need trimming... we see our fair share at the hospital I work at.

I imagine the vet will want to see him and may give you some antibiotics. URIs are fairly common in small mammals/pocket pets. We see our fair share at the hospital I work at.

Firstly, they need to be housed with at least one other glider. Secondly, read up a lot on their diet as you have to make it yourself usually.
