I checked on the bird yesterday and it was just fine and in the nest where I left it. In about a week or two it'll probably be flying on its own. Her kids are like 14 and 16 I think. The younger one is the more cooperative. The older one just wades around and does nothing, pretty much. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea for psychologists to evaluate all potential parents. Especially ones with mental health histories. I feel like they pump moms in and out of hospitals right away now I guess to make more room, a long time ago new moms and babies were in hospitals longer. Yeah, people with such serious mental health issues really should not have children or ever be unsupervised with children. It's such a shame that happened, that poor baby didn't deserve that. Pregnancy and birth really screws up your body chemistry, so for a person with preexisting mental health issues, you'd think someone would watch her more closely. They're pretty awesome compared to what they were living in before (a tank with carefresh, a plastic paver stone, water bottles and no light source). Oh! Or maybe I could overturn a medium-sized terra cotta flower pot and try to grow moss in there! That'd offer some shade and also give the turtles a new hidey nook. I bet they'd like that if it would be possible. I need to find cheap flower pots now. Unless I can scrounge up something else similar.

I mist them fairly often, but less often than I probably should. Mostly because Spotty's spray bottle is small and it's a PITA to fill. I was thinking about maybe trying to dig a hole and place in a water bottle that has holes in the bottom to drip water in slowly. That'd probably be a good thing to try. But they might knock it over... Maybe if I put the water bottle on top of the cage's mesh lid ...
