It is true that multiple embryos are implanted during IVF, but implanting 9 at a time just seems excessive to me. I went through IVF and when we talked about implanting, the number never went over 3. I understand the odds go down if you only implant a few at a time, but the more you implant, the more you up the odds of something really wrong happening.

There is NO reason for a fertility doctor to implant that many embryos at once. Why aren't these doctors being held accountable? Ultimately, when these children are born (if they make it all the way) they will be faced with life-long health issues, some of which could involve suffering. What happened to "Do No Harm"?

I think it's because it is a relatively affluent community. Most of them are very successful people in business and have probably put off having families until after their careers were secure. Or, women that have married into a wealthy family are probably eager to start a family and become a loyal housewife and mother.
