Well, it's all right if I can't find anything on vampire legends. I know somewhat about vamp legends; but my vampires are still my own. I just wanted to know what it was actually like back then. I searched and searched and couldn't find much. Figures the only thing I could find was fashion... But Sadira gave me a pretty good idea regardless. Thanks for the book suggestion. Might have to check i ...

It did. But that's actually very helpful to know. It helps make my story more believable and around the legend. :] I like to be as accurate and believable as possible. Sloppy details piss me off.

Depending on your age. Some vampires are so old they lose touch with their humanity. At least...this is how my vampires usually are. Or how I imagine them. While you might be thinking of legend, I'm going by personal beliefs. D: Sorry if that's the case.

Faith and Pens: How does religion effect our writing? 58 Writers 8/19/10 9:16am

I'm Agnostic; so I'm between both believing and non-believing. Which, in my opinion, helps when it comes to writing about religion. I'm very open to both ideas. I'm actually wanting to write a story about angels and demons, with a lot of religious factors involved. Some are true, some are false. In the end...I don't think my beliefs really affect my writing in any way because I don't have much ...

And I agree. That's why, even in my character sheets, I give full detail when it comes to certain personality traits.

Pft, in this day and age "black sheep" can be looked down on. But just because they weren't fond of, doesn't mean they didn't exist. Not like minds could be read. No one could possibly know if someone disagreed with another's way or opinion. I would imagine a vampire, being immortal and all powerful, wouldn't give two shits about the laws of the world. Not like they could be easily killed b ...

I hate to jump in, but I'd like to share my opinion. I use character sheets. I use them so I can remember details that's mentioned throughout the story, and some character sheets (like the one I posted) made me think about things that I didn't put much thought into before. Such as how a character reacts to certain emotional or situation. I know you're not the one who said this -- but I ...

Also very true. Not to mention, I'm sure that not everybody has the same personality and views. I know people are much different today, but we're all filled with different beliefs and opinions. Even if it isn't very widespread and common in the past, there has to be that black sheep somewhere, no?

What kind of character do YOU like (or hate)? 50 Writers 8/30/10 2:59pm

I love characters who actually have a personality, a history, and awesome reasons for their attitude. The characters I hate more than anything are Bella Swan and Edward Cullen from Twilight...the two dullest characters with no personality (or, in Edward's case, a creepy one).

This is true. I guess I didn't think about that. That they were prey. However, my problem is, if women are such slaves...the reason why a vampire would give them such power baffles me. Realize my vampires are changed by not just being bitten, but need to be fed the blood of a vampire. So biting and leaving them alive wouldn't do anything.

I have always wanted to take part of an offline group. I even looked for one, but Delaware is a terribly small state with little stuff to do. I usually get in the writing mood by role playing. It is pretty much the ONLY way to get me out of writer's block. Plus that motivates me more to create and develop characters.

Now I understand why a lot of people try not to think about their character's history TOO much if they were born a long time ago. xD A lot of things to consider. Women pretty much had (at least it seems) the same role for centuries. Housewife, maid, and meant to bear men children! Would you, personally, find it at all believable (if vampires existed, at least) that a woman would be turne ...

It's your story. Whilst you should always consider your reader, you should always do what makes you happy. Personally, unless it is crucial, I don't see why it would be important. I mean...you don't see straight characters in a book stating that they're straight. Why should gays be treated differently?

Where: France. I would very much like to know what homes were like in the 12th century, how people acted, what the role is of the women in the home, how people were treated, and how the "high-class/rich" were treated over those lower than them. Pretty much anything I can learn about the people. Not specific names, just people in general. I play around with vampire myths a lot. I'm always t ...
