What kind of utter moron would turn down a job at Pixar? It's only the top animation company in the world, with possibly the most creative and open work environment ever created. No. No it isn't. The guy who draws Grappler Baki just makes up his own muscle groups and bone structures. It looks plainly ridiculous and every artist with any figure drawing experience at all laughs hysterically at every page of that manga. It is not "exaggerated", it is ******** wrong. Then why did you put it up as an example of your writing? I see this all the time with artists who will say "oh, that's an old drawing" or "that was rushed" or whatever, but these are always pictures that are on the online portfolios they direct people to. You've answered your own question. If elves are no more special from humans, why bother making those characters elves? "Elf", "dwarf", "vampire", etc, these have all become characterization shorthands for lazy authors. A competent author doesn't need them: see, for example, Perdido Street Station by China Miéville, which contains a huge number of nonhuman characters and not one of them is ...
