Am I the only one who isn't bothered by the lack of gutters? I personally like the left side better, it tells the story more efficiently because there are less panels. With a trained eye, it's pretty obvious when you see an artist who stylizes without knowing the basics. CLAMP is actually one of those types. They understand appeal and are pretty great with compositions, but they really don't know their anatomy and their proportions (especially their later manga) are just awkwardly elongated. As everyone's saying, comics don't consist of just bust shots/full body shots of characters. Can you draw any pose? How about backgrounds? Can you draw characters interacting with backgrounds? Can you draw a full range of unique emotions for each of your characters? And can you do all this from any angle? Honestly, just jump into drawing/writing them and see how it goes for you. I learned way more about drawing comics from just doing it than all the books I've ever read combined. Manga Studio isn't free, but it's not exactly expensive either (at least compared to Photoshop). You can get Manga Studio Debut for $50 (which has all your bare nuts and bolts), but I recommend Manga Studio EX over it since Debut only gives you a certain amount of layers. Tools are overrated. To make any kind of comic (manga or otherwise), all you really need is a pencil and paper, and probably a scanner and some kind of image editing software so you can get it online. Photoshop is the universally accepted program by all artists around the world, but Gimp is a pretty good (free) alternative. SJ's free accounts has a limit of 500 KB per page (which is unbelievably small) while CF gives an allowance of up to 3 MB, and it allows Flash page uploads at no additional cost.
