I had assumed everytime they settled they planned on getting things but were forced to move. I understand your point though! It does seem weird they weren't prepared at all! the only ones who were were Carol ( learning to help give birth ), Hershel ( the doctor ) and Lori... I'm sure you're not the only one :) Personally my mother and I really disliked her and wanted her dead for ages. I think the thing with Lori is people didn't want her dying in such a depressing manner ( tears, Carl being motherless, the new baby being motherless, etc ).
