Happens all the time to me. I consider it to be the characters' way of telling you this is what they want.

Let the character guide you. It's his/her story. My characters are known to grab my plot sheets and run off with them.

It varies on the story for me. I like a little title for each chapter usually. It gives some information when you're reading. When I'm posting things online I only use title ch.# to signify.

What music do you listen to? 44 Writers 6/19/14 1:22am
OGApothecary
I'll listen to most anything. It also depends on what I'm writing. If I'm writing an emotional or romantic scene I'm not really going to be listening to some hard rock or screamo music. My general "default" music includes (but not limited to) Falling In Reverse 10 Years Ryan Star and whatever else tends to feel right. Along with those listed above on my list from NaNoWriMo 2013 are De ...

Writing in School 16 Writers 6/12/14 11:28am
I Am Smartie
When I was in school (middle and high school) I got to write all the time because I made the time. Study hall in high school and any time between notes. Any down time was writing time when I didn't have other things. I loved writing essays. I was that kid who would ask what the maximum page count could be. The most difficult is picking a topic and sticking to boundaries when you're given ...

If I remember correctly babies do not automatically cry when they're born. There's still fluid and gunk in the nose and mouth that are sucked out by a turkey baster resembling thing only much smaller and medical. As far as any information goes, go to google and search in the terms and/or go to your local library and look up information on those topics in the catalog. If you have trouble ask ...

Like Kairi said there's no specified limits per genre. There are guidelines on what is considered a "novel" or "novelette" or "flash fiction" and those can be found online or in any of the writer's market books.

Do young adult novels HAVE to have romance? 44 Writers 6/5/14 6:56am
ninjastriker99...
No, the novel does not have to have romance in it. Does it help? Yes. Most stories these days have at least some romantic aspect even if it's that unrequited love. A lot of authors use love and romance as some base or mix in because it adds more conflict to the story. But you can look at books like Ryan Mecum's Zombie Haiku. Yes there's a little romance mentioned, but it follows the transforma ...

What's your favorite step of the writing process? 52 Writers 7/11/14 5:07am
Shinigami_hunt...
I absolutely adore brainstorming and writing the first draft. I've actually been working on notes lately. I'll go through like 2-5 planning sheets and index cards and lots of random papers. My latest research has had me printing a lot of papers and making me go *squee* because I enjoy researching things.

What are some of your best research methods? 16 Writers 3/13/14 3:49am
Princess Hyacinth
I love researching. Usually I'll use nonfiction books and the internet (of course using several different websites to cross-check) but when I can I'll ask people I know if they'd be willing to talk about something they've been through. This way if they're uncomfortable talking about it they can tell me and no one feels bad.
