Dakota, you've made a few claims from the last three posts that so far are not based on any evidence. I still do not know of this type of hell you are referring to. If this type of hell is real, then how can one enter it and not be damned? This seems contradictory from what the Bible would explain.
The closest thing I can imagine that resembles your views is a phrase people used in the Old Tes ...

So now we're talking about a different type of Hell? This would've been better if you clarified that in your first post because I wouldn't have been able to tell by reading it. Most see Hell as a place after the final judgement, which explains my perspective.
The "Hell" between now and the Final Judgement is what you would call purgatory, no? I ask simply for clarification.
I couldn't br ...

What?
God sends no one to hell? Let's clarify that. According to the Bible, Jesus (God) sends many people to Hell. Consider Matthew 25:31-46. The ones that are cast out go into a place of "eternal punishment," into "the eternal fire..." If you don't believe me, you can read it for yourself. I understand you when you say it's the self that does it, but here we see that it's God who has the f ...

This is a fantastic question. Since we're talking about something in the Bible, I will be using the Bible as a source. (I mean, "dur", but some people don't seem to get that the Bible is a valid source of information on a thread dealing with religion. I always found this incredibly ironic)
There's no place in the Bible where Jesus explicitly uses the phrase, "I am God." But he also never st ...

There is something that needs to be seriously clarified before assessing if your faith ins genuine. This is important because most professing Christians are not actually aware of what they truly believe when confronted with the right questions.
You state a belief in Jesus... At the intellectual level? Many people (especially the younger crowd) have a hard time discerning where their faith t ...

What makes you believe that simply existing is the problem? Adam and Eve existed and God was cool with them until they disobeyed Him.
Fact is Christianity and Islam scare me. They have a God that is angry and petty and will torture you forever just for existing. At least in Islam they just say “God is God, he can do whatever he wants.” Christianity has the same doctrine as well. It's ...

This is a good question, and I personally believe it has a lot to do with ones identity and foundation (what holds them together as a human being in our crazy world).
Let me explain.
When a person considers a belief system, they are doing so in the hopes that it will benefit them. They are making a conscience decision in choosing a belief system that will help shape them as a person. The ...

So Boyarin assumes that the concept of the Trinity originated through ancient Aramaic interpretations or paraphrases of the Hebrew Bible?
And I don't understand the inclusion of the quote. What is the significance of it?

So would you agree to this?
Eastern religion is a group of religions originating in India, China, Japan and Southeast Asia.
Christianity as a significant organized religion began in Europe, Rome in particular. All the Abrahamic religions are considered western by scholars and historians.

If you and I were in a relationship, would others consider it to be the same as marriage? No!
Sexual relationships can exist outside of marriage.
In this case, we are talking about homosexuality in both spheres, but the Bible only mentions one. However, I think what you're asking is, "So if the Bible doesn't mention it, does that mean that the Bible says it's cool beans to marry people o ...

I was kidding. I read it almost every day. I'm currently trying to memorize passages of scripture, one per week. This week I'm on 2 Cor 5:17. Trying to remember the ESV and the NLT.
As for Homosexuality, many people have gone back and forth on this topic for years here on the M&R. Same sex marriage is never mentioned in scripture. But same sex relations are mentioned in the Old and (I'm fairly ...

I never claimed that any branch did...
No, what I am trying to say is that Christianity started as an Eastern religion. There are denominations that have traveled westward, but the original message of Christianity were Eastern in origin. This leads me to believe that Christianity is an eastern religion. Never mind the denominations and branches. We're talking about location of origin specifical ...
