Have you tried booting off a disc? I'm not sure about Vista themes but if you're getting a BSoD not involving drivers, you may be able to back up your files or even replace the old files you deleted by running off a disc and installing/replacing the necessary files.

How would you be able to tell if your keyboard was responding if the whole screen was black? The only way I can think of is through the capslock lights. Still if your screen is black it could be that your video card got jarred loose somehow in which case you would have to get into your laptop and remove it and place it back in securely. Try downloading another media player (I would recommend vlc) and playing it on there. If it works on vlc but not wmp then it's a problem with your wmp or its codecs used to play said files and I wouldn't know how to fix it (reinstalling might work). Interesting. Vista+4GB of RAM should be good. What I would do is hit ctrl+alt+dlt or ctrl+shift+esc to bring up task manager while you are trying to search and check your processes to see if any is using a crapload more than it should. In my experience Velocity Micro makes good custom laptops especially for those who don't know much about coms. Absolutely not. GeForce 6150 has been obsolete for god knows how long now. Even GeForce8 is obsolete and can't play a single decent game on the shelves at gamestop. For Fallout3 (being an old game) the specs are GeForce 6800+ with 1 GB of RAM. But that game is really old and outdated. Well that would all depend on the type of ram you're using. Are you using DDR, SDRAM, or RDRAM? Anyway as stated above, it would probably be best to get a single 2 GB stick for cost, but also as stated, if the max is 2 GB and there are 2 slots, each slot may be only able to hold 1 GB of RAM. Is your drive reading the disc at all? If it is not, the power cable could be loose. Open up your case and make sure that your drive is securely connected to your power source. Edit: Just read the OP again. Didn't notice the last part. But as stated earlier, try opening it while the com is not on.

Umm no. I think what you're looking for is not a router but an ethernet card. If you have a router with no landline internet/modem, it's pretty much useless. It's like getting a universal remote without having a TV.
