Mother of Woman who Attacked Pro-Life Activists Plans to Sue 53 In The News 9/7/14 7:24am

I trimmed the post chain for length but I wanted to comment on the parts I quoted. And I'l preface this by saying I have not watched the videos. Due to data cap I usually don't unless I am connected someplace besides my home. Why do you (apparently) assume the protesters knew the woman was autistic? Not every autistic person huddles in a corner or acts like Rainman. Most of the time you ...

Russian bank offers cats with mortgages! 7 In The News 9/4/14 8:57pm

Sberbank's promotion may be part of an effort to present a warm, fuzzy image since getting slapped with European sanctions one month ago. The bank, which serves more than half the Russian population, has been banned from raising medium and long-term financing in Europe. Its shares have plunged by 28% since the start of the year. CEO: "We have been caught doing bad things and these sanctions ...

Student vows to carry mattress around until rapist expelled 61 In The News 9/7/14 6:09pm

Months after the alleged incident, Sulkowicz brought her case to the school ... It is unfortunate she was allegedly raped but waiting "months" to tell anyone doesn't help her case. And before you 'blah blah' me about hard for some women to talk about it etc. --- Yeah, I get that, but it doesn't change the fact that if she waits months to tell authorities the police have nothing to go on unless ...

Honduran boy smuggled into US held captive 1 In The News 9/4/14 7:50pm

But in most publicized accounts, the victims have been adults. But it does happen. About two weeks ago I listened to a news story / interview on NPR about a family whose two boys were held hostage - not by the coyotes but by cops in one of the countries they were passing through. According to the story the coyotes ended up paying about a thousand dollars to get them released so they could co ...

It's hard to say. Sometimes in a town that small a handful of people with opinions can end up influencing local law more than they should be able to. One of our local small towns has a population of about 12,000 now. So, much larger than this town by a factor of about 10 but still very much a small town. Last year I was looking up local ordinances there about keeping chickens for a friend ...

You have some amazingly misinformed views about laws in the United States. If you choose to spew any more falsehoods please provide a supporting link to the alleged "law" you are referring to. And since I asked for links as a courtesy I will provide links for what I am saying to you. Right to photograph / video - In the United States it is legal to photograph any object or person that i ...

I'm not defending the cop - I still think both sides did wrong in this situation. But...just curious... The part I bolded - can you back that up to a link with documentation? I'm not from Minnesota, possibly you are correct. But I doubt it. I don't believe there is any state where you can get a license for chickens or any livestock "pretty much anywhere". All states have towns and citi ...

Mom mum, but Facebook on fire over injured kindergartner 34 In The News 9/4/14 5:13pm

Hah! Not quite like that but I do remember a big metal slide that was almost as tall as the one in the middle photo. And I think for real that tall, not kid memory tall. I did get a dose of kid memory tall once though. When I was a young boy - maybe 6 or 7 so - my best friend and I used to go play in the large field next to our street. There was this HUGE fallen tree we used to climb to ...

Another one died? I heard about the one that jumped into the quarry and died. Which was written up as an ice challenge death but it wasn't really. They have had other kids die from jumping in that quarry that had nothing to do with ice bucket.

Mukai really did wear the shirt on variety show You Knock on a Jumping Door! Well there's your problem. You work on a show called "You Knock on a Jumping Door!" It's bad enough everyday folks wear English words they don't know the meaning of but you'd think if you were going to be on TV shows you'd double check what your clothing says.

Okay, so I had to go Google their population. 1,133 (2012) Atwater, Population I was kind of expecting that. In how many cities does the Chief of Police go out and chase people's chickens around with a shovel? He should have taken the chicken away rather than shovel whack it on site. But it sounds like the woman was at fault too. She acknowledges blowing off previous warnings about g ...

Man charged with throwing baby from vehicle 17 In The News 9/6/14 1:26pm
xdivision_whit...
Because they would not get a conviction. The article says he "ran over" the 8 month old baby with his vehicle but also says the kids had 'bruises'. A defense team could (likely) easily use that to convince a jury he was not trying to murder anyone and the car 'brushing' the kid and causing a bruise was an accident. But the guy sounds like an a** but I doubt he was trying to murder anyone. ...

Arizona statutory rape victim forced to pay child support. 84 In The News 9/16/14 12:23am
Holidazed
From what I am reading in Arizona the statute of limitations for statutory rape is 7 years. So.. basically she is probably past it now if you count the girl's age plus the term of the pregnancy. It makes you wonder if that had anything to do with the delay in seeking support. Or at least of her suddenly remembering who the father was for the state to go after. The article says the guy di ...
