Tim Burton Movies? 6 Entertainment Discussion 10/25/14 3:46pm

Except that people tend to credit Nightmare solely to Burton. Also, Burton's role wasn't all that different from what a lot of producers do. For instance, the Cinematic Marvel Universe is mostly being engineered by Avi Arad, and indeed directors aren't so much hired to be artists with unique things to say, rather they're hired based on the presumption that they're capable of creating a produc ...

Batman has a (female) Robin 19 Entertainment Discussion 10/24/14 6:28am

It's not going to be based on the TDKR graphic novel. At least not the whole film. The graphic novel does, however, influence the approach on Batman specifically, and the notion that Batman and Superman will fight (which I personally find silly but the sort of cult-like obsession with all things Batman won't allow people to see how one-sided that fight would be in an unbiased depiction). No, ...

Well, you may be disappointed to learn that James Wan didn't direct Annabelle. Or write it. Or come up with the basic idea for the story. It could have been great but ultimately it's just a mediocre cash-in with the occasional kernel of a good idea. Some scares are alright, but it's very by-the-book, and the characters are very lame and one-dimensional. The husband is so bland and wooden and ...

I just had to tip because Spider-Gwen rules. :3nod: I think The Dark Knight Returns has its flaws (I can't stand how horribly they depict Superman, especially because it's informed the opinions of a ton of Superman haters) but there are a lot of things it does pretty well too, and I'm glad to see how it's informing the depiction of Batman so far. I just hope it doesn't inform the depiction ...

In The Dark Knight Returns, Carrie was only thirteen years old. I don't think she'll be THAT young in the film, since Malone is almost thirty, but I doubt she'll be a love interest. In that book, Batman retired after the death of his previous Robin, Jason Todd, and only came out of retirement years later. Carrie volunteers to be his new Robin, which he'srelu ctant to accept at first. Again, s ...

In live-action, no, there's never been a female Robin, but in the comics there's been at least two. Malone is playing Carrie Kelley, the first female Robin.

It hasn't been announced officially, but Jena Malone, known for roles in the Hunger Games franchise and Sucker Punch, has been cast as Carrie Kelley, aka Robin, in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Carrie Kelley first appeared in the celebrated graphic novel The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller, which is indeed something of an influence for the film. On top of that, Malone has been spot ...

I disagree. 1) It's more historically accurate than you may think, including Dracula's depiction. Many elements of the plot are straight from the true story. 2) There's only a couple of things that suggest its place in the Monster Universe, which were added during reshoots. Otherwise it was initially made as a stand-alone thing. 3) All the best Dracula films are under an R rating, inclu ...

Meet Daredevil. Let it be noted that this costume is just an early prototype. It's also straight from one of the most celebrated Daredevil comics.

It's not just getting a sequel. It's the start of the Monster Universe. You know how Disney has the Marvel Universe? Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, so on? Well, Universal Pictures is doing their own with the classic monsters. This is the first one. The next one will be a reboot of The Mummy. They're probably going to do a new Wolfman and a new Frankenstein too. I know what you're thinking. "D ...
