Trolling, abuse, harassment and flaming are all grouped together in terms of warnings/bans.
Get warned for abuse and then warned for trolling, the two warnings stack and you get a 3 day ban. Flame someone after coming back from the ban and that will stack with the previous warningss

It's pretty simple really, any system that relies on people will have human error, any automated systems will throw up false positives. No doubt they've done something behind the scenes, but we're not exactly going to see that, are we?

I never said unfair bans don't happen, just that nearly everyone who claims they have been was not actually unfairly banned.

That's not proof, that's just her side of the story.

A lot of people who claim to be banned unfairly are either unwilling to admit fault or don't understand why they were banned. Just because they say they were unfairly banned doesn't mean they were unfairly banned.
If I was banned unfairly, I'd contest it through the official channels, the "Contact Us" link at the bottom of every page of Gaia.
Then again, I have technically been banned unf ...

I just looked at GD and I couldn't find a single thread that I wouldn't have immediately moved if I was still a mod.
So, yeah, the mods are really being bastards by moving all that s**t where it belongs.

Abusive name dropping is a no-no. Posting PMs without permission from the other person is just bad etiquette.
Look, back when I was a moderator my rule was that if it wasn't a viable discussion by the end of the first post that was it. You can't just leave something out in the open and hope it grows you actually have to put some effort in. Mod resources are stretched and it's not their job to b ...

You have to blacklist the website that the images that cause the password prompt are being hosted.
Not an easy solution because it isn't hard to set up another site to host them, matter of fact it's only a patch job unless someone can think of a way to stop attempts to access password protected servers.

The other forums don't invalidate GD, they make it harder for new users to work out what to post there. I know back when I started that I largely used what else was posted to work out what I could and couldn't do, so I can only imagine the confusion that new users have. It isn't the sole factor that causes issues either, but it doesn't help.
The only way to really solve GD's issues is to drag a ...

I was going to write an explanation of what happened with my friends who you've mentioned here, but I don't think I should. That being said, I'm still in touch with the Hawks and I'd like to think they simply stepped down because of how busy their lives are (I honestly haven't discussed Gaia with them in years). I did it, countless other former mods did it, not all instances where someone goes fro ...

There is a much simpler solution to all of the issues raised by the inconsistencies in the Decided Issues sticky.
Return it to the original name of "Frequently Mentioned Issues" and instead of having an iron clad (and completely outdated) list of topics that have explicit reasons stated (reasons which are also completely outdated), instead have a short list of topics that have been posted frequ ...

I got lazy and didn't quote the post referring to the bill of rights which kind of confuses my point. The fact of the matter is, I'm sick of people citing laws that they think are relevant to the situation when it's only due to their complete misunderstanding of what that law is for.
As for the internet service, there's currently a lawsuit in Australia being issued against iiNet (one of the nat ...

I was going to dodgy this thread completely, but I had to comment on this.
How on earth is the Bill of Rights relevant to Gaia?
The 6th amendment was mentioned, but that refers to criminal prosecutions, seeing as Gaia is not a part of the US legal systems it's completely irrelevant.
The rest of the Bill o' Rights? It's pretty much along the lines of "the government shall not make laws to ...
