It's a pretty complicated problem in a complex system, so a simple answer will be hard to find. But this video sums up a good portion of it!

We already have what we should call slave labor in third world countries. People with manufacturing jobs in China endure working conditions even worse than what you describe. It's not helping the economy, and it's not humane.

That was my point. We can't keep reproducing like we are. Otarolgam was saying we can keep finding more places to put people, but I'm saying something bad will still happen eventually. Like you said.
And people won't stop breeding on their own simply because there is no room or food. They will breed no matter what, than live a miserable life starving. Just look at any poor nation today, espec ...

Can't you see how scarce these metals are? If we're fighting so brutally over them, there must not be enough to go around! That is, not enough resources for too many people. That is, too many people!
If we reduce our numbers, there will be less demand for these metals. If there was less demand, we wouldn't have to force child slaves to mine them.

Everything's fine now? Did you look up "conflict minerals"? There are children being sent down mines to die! They are being brutally forced to find metals we need for our electronics! Please look it up. Any article or video you find should suffice. It's simply too much for me to get into here.
Here's a good video.

So.... you're okay with murder as a means of population control, yet you don't want to prevent new people from being born while letting the currently living live out the rest of their lives without hurting anyone?

Elbow room isn't the issue. The problem is resources. Just search the term "conflict mineral" to see just how seriously we're fighting over metals.

You're forgetting that population growth is exponential. I'm sure we could feed a population many times the size of our current numbers. But what happens when we get to the trillions? The quadrillions? What if the population never stops growing?

We aren't pro nwo. The world won't be "run" by machines. Machines will simply be used for most labor. "Run by" implies the machines will be making the community's decisions, as a leader normally does. But in a resource based economy, decisions won't be made by one person. Instead, solutions will be arrived at scientifically. This is said many times in the Zeitgeist movies and videos.

First of all, I very clearly said I didn't like the idea. I was merely discussing the possibility of it being necessary. Second, I had people in mind who would either be bad parents, or would be prone otherwise destructive behavior that cannot be corrected. And ONLY if we can prove that it is, in fact, genetic. In otherwords, if the sci fi movie Idiocracy actually happened, something might ne ...

The best, and perhaps only effective and not physically violent, option I can think of would be to find a really good lawyer and beat them at their own game. Find something to sue them for. I bet there are plenty of lawyers who want to take them on, and will all the offensive things they do, there must be something illegal about it!
If not, I say we do whatever we can to try and pass a law of s ...

While sterilization is against human rights, it would effectively reduce the population. Perhaps education would be the happy medium. The people need to know the extreme of our current overpopulation crisis, and just how having too many children effects the community.
And of course, there is the point "Idiocracy" made; how stupid people will breed no matter what, leaving the smart to become an ...

Honestly, I hated the first movie. It had an air of paranoia and extremism that was hard to take seriously.
However, I highly recommend the sequel Zeitgeist: Addendum. It focuses more on real, more obvious problems in our world today, and inspired the Zeitgeist Movement.

As for the issue of people becoming lazy; the designer of the project had this to say...
