That doesn't make you "sick" or a "jerk" at all. That just makes your friend and overreacting fool. If you did not write the story to intentionally hurt your friend, then you have all the right to write about it however way you want. You said you changed everything except for the scenario, and that's nothing wrong. Writers get inspired by what they observe in life, after all.
